this is my first topic, i registered a long time ago with another name but i have been working on a project, actually, creating flash clocks for my flash clock blog. I have a problem, i created a digital clock to display the time zone from Sydney, in Australia, which is +10 hours now in UTC. Everything is working, but i can not find a way to insert the AM/PM status on the digital clock, and i am tired of trial and errors, i want o go to sleep, i am tired and exhausted, plus i must finish this clock by Sunday.
I want to set them up with packages but tried before and failed.At the moment, I've made a folder,
C:/flash/mbl
In there, I have all my classes that I want to reuse. what do I do next? I'm using Flash CS3, would also be useful to know how to do the same in Flex Builder 3.

I am just about to pull my hair out - please help as I don't have that much hair to pull out. I created a flash file in Flash CS3 and was told I need to add a click tag for an agency who want to keep track of the click throughs for the ad.
I have created the invisible button layer and set up the 'hit' and tried and tried and tried to select the button and add some action script to it. (which I have seen three different codes to use)
Each time I export it or publish it I get the error message: mouse events are permitted only for button insances on release. I have read and understand I need to assign the code to the button and not the frame but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to do that.
I select the button (which I have converted to a 'button') and F9 or left click to get the Actions panel and once I am there and try to use the '+' to add code, it automatically shows 'Current Select/Frame 1 in the left side of the Actions panel. I get that it is adding the code to the frame but how do I get it to add the code to the button???
All now works exept the height doesn't seem to work; that is, if the text goes on for pages all of it prints to screen. I would like to contain it to 350 px and then have the user use the scrollbar.

In Adobe's documentation, it states that 'measuredMinWidth - Specifies the default minimum height and minimum width of the component, in pixels. Flex cannot set the size of a component smaller than its specified minimum size.I've tried setting the measuredMinWidth as well, same result.Eventually, I tried every combination of minimum width settings I could, but they were all ignored when I set the width (or explicit width).
Additionally, what is the difference between width and explicitWidth, in every case I've tried, they have performed identically (couldn't find any help on this either)
I'm using this after my file has preloaded the swf: mcLoader.loadClip("sceneAll_1.swf", holder_mc);
what I want to do is set sceneAll_1.swf inside holder_mc to _x = -500 _y -250 to get it in the center of holder_mc than the default 0,0. I tried the usual technique with attachMovie but it didn't work for this.
What i need is to set some values for a few movie clips and then use them all at once. Eg, i'll have 5 mcs in my movie, each with either variable = 1 or variable = 2 etc assigned to each of them differently. Then i want to run some code kinda like

has anyone had any experience building or setting up a web-cam? i feel like this is old technology and should be easy to do. however i dont really even know where to start as far as company to go through for streaming it what to buy etc. this will be something that at points there could be 30,000 or more people watching because it is for a radio station in chicago. so i have to think about traffic?
I am having a problem with my stopwatch, it starts at 04:00 seconds. This probally because of the timer script executing to early, so could anyone help me with a script that sets the timer to 00:00 without stoping it?

I am attempting to create a map that has the ability to zoom in and out as well as a click and drag feature.What I need help on is setting boundaries for the map. I can set them for the map when it is zoomed out, but they need to change as the map zooms in. I've been searching lots of forums lately to see if anyone can help, but no luck yet...

I don't know how to test this and I think I'm over thinking it, but here is the situation:Let's say I have a styleSheet that is assigned as a public static var of a Class.Then, in various other Classes, I'm dynamically creating TextFields and assigning their styleSheet property to the static styleSheet varI eventually remove those said TextFields from the DisplayObject they're on and delete all references. Even though they've been removed/cleared, are they retained in memory because they still contain reference to the static var styleSheet? i.e. should I be setting textField.styleSheet=null; before removing?
I currently have a script that allows the user to click on a right or left arrow to scroll across a movie under a mask, but currently they can scroll it so you don't see anything in the middle. How can I add an X and Y axis limitations so this doesnt happen to the following script:

i am having problems with setting the default value of the numericstepper. what is happening is that each time i change the value of Ath in the numeric stepper then change the frame the Ath value changes to it's max value. this happens with all of the numericsteppers that i set a default value with using actionscript. all relevent code is bellow along what each frame is for/does
I am trying to control some of the global variables in my script through an external text file.I have a variable called "_global.scrollOrNot", which determines whether I want flash to use the text window with a scroll-bar or the one without a scroll-bar. I am trying to control that through an external text-file called "ScrollCommand.txt". Here is my code:

this is were I have a problem. It will always choose "MCtextFeldSB1noscroll". I have tested the whole thing with other variables, which were not changed by any LoadVars function and it works just fine then. As soon as I change the variable using the LoadVars function it will not work any more.
How do I set/access the "Text File" variable as shown in the two pictures. _root and _global don't work.I also tried to access it from _root.CrosswordPuzzle.cp_words_textfile.I don't get components.
I used to dynamically set some variables using a FOR loop kinda like so PHP Code:

Second question, using that code in a function would set the variables at the root level making them available throughout the timeline. Without "_root" how do I get that variable available to everything?
