Jul 9, 2009as everything is all database driven on my site i link the flash file using swfobject like but inside the swf file it calls an xml file that is local. Now because i have linked to the swf using http: the xml file will not load. ActionScript 2.0 :: XML Store Locator With A Link To Google Maps?
Jan 17, 2008I was asked by my company to make a store locator for our website but I only have basic knowledge of Actionscript and XML. What I would like to do is have an Input text box with a search button and an dynamic text box to display the results. Whatever is typed into the input box is what I want to search the XML file for.
I would like to have 6 variables to search for and 1 variable that holds the URL infoStoreName, Address, City, StateShort, StateLong , ZipCode, Link).
Now For example if someone typed "CA" or "California" all entries that have CA as its StateShort or California as it's StateLong atribute would be displayed, something for the rest as well.
In addition to displaying the info in the text box I would like the output to be links so that I can link the location to a popup of the location in google maps.
Here is how I my XML file looks:

I can display an entry in the XML in flash. However it keeps displaying only the last one. I think I am going to need assistance fixing this.
I am still trying to implement the search feature but I still don�t know how yet. And last but not least, making the text clickable.
My guess is that I need to make invisible movie clips and place them over the text box in rows. Then add some sort of generic on (release) function that grabs the link of the line of text beneath it.

Apr 21, 2010Im building a flash banner that takes dynamic xml data from another domain and displays them as links. To make the swf reload the xml (the xml links change all the time) every time Internet explorer is updated (instead of loading from the cache) I added +new Date().time to my URLrequest, and suddenly the links takes 9 seconds to display. Firefox doesnt have the cache problem and without the +new Date().time it displays the updated links almost instantaneously. Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I can fix it?? a 9 seconds loadtime is too long.
Here is the first parts of my code:

only thing I changed was adding the +new Date().time, and it displays the links so slow.

Currently I am sending the 'link' child value to a dynamic text field and it works fine and I can get it to link, but I don't want to show the link, just a 'read more' but still have it linking. The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. Feb 17, 2012I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:

So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.
