ActionScript 1/2 :: Linking Gallery To Xml File Using A Http: Link?
Jul 9, 2009
as everything is all database driven on my site i link the flash file using swfobject like but inside the swf file it calls an xml file that is local. Now because i have linked to the swf using http: the xml file will not load. Is it possible to link to the xml file in the same way as i have with the swf using http:?also when i export my flash file from the fla it comes up with an error on output saying " There is no property with the name'displayState' "???here is the actionscript code
function initGallery(){ function loadXML(loaded) if (loaded)xmlNode = this.firstChild; total = xmlNode.childNodes.length;
for (i = 0; i < total;
Load the link in as a flashvar and allow the Flash to open the URI
Load the link into the Flash file using AJAX/AJAH and allow the Flash open the URI
Just have the Flash file call a Javascript function that opens the URI
Is one of these methods better than the other(s)?
I'm working in a CMS, so each method requires a different process to edit/control the link. In #1, the editor needs to open the Flash node and add the path to a flashvar. In #2, the editor just needs to add the path as an anchor with a specific ID to a page (or XML). In #3, the paths could be stored in many different ways. The links aren't known when the Flash files are created, so they can't be embedded in the Flash. Is there a performance/efficiency/compatibility/good reason to use #1 over #2 or #3, etc?
I'm very new to Flash (using CS3). I created a button instance out of text but I don't know what to do next. I'd like for the button to link to a different place in the timeline of my website. Right now, when I click on the text link and go to actions, it says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it". I'malso not sure what the script should read and if all the script goes into one "actions" layer or separately. This is what I'd like for it to look like: [URL]
The button that I'm trying to create right now is the "print" button which would bring up the section with the clickable thumbnails that you see on top. It's my first time using flash. I already placed everything in the document. Should all the different links just be different places in the timeline? Sorry if this is a n00b question but I'm still trying to understand how flash works as a website (my previous experience is only web banners).
I have a website where my Home, About, Work and Contact pages are on four different frames on the time line. Once you click on the Work link from the opening Home page, your brought to the second frame where a little tween brings a bunch of thumbnails into view. When you click on the thumbnails, it brings you out of the .swf and into a new HTML page. The problem is getting back to the Work page in the .swf with out being brought to the opening Home page. I have used an anchor on the time line and changing my publish settings to HTML with anchors, and they do work! But, its opening my .swf in the Work frame and running through the movie back to the Home. Iv tried putting a stop(); on the Work frame, which does stop it but its a dead page, my tweens, buttons, everything is frozen.
I've got a website with three links to three different thumbnail galleries. When I click the link to a gallery that has a lesser number of thumbnails, it fills the difference in numbers in with thumbnails from the previous gallery.
I need help figuring out the code that will allow a button that is outside of an XML gallery to go to a specific image in an xml gallery. Specifically, i need to link a thumbnail, that is on a different frame then my xml gallery, to the corresponding image in that gallery.
I've gone through Kirupa's Photo Gallery tutorial and set it up to work on my site, it's here: [URL]
What I want is to be able to click on the big image after it's loaded, thus launching a new window leading you to that project's URL.
This gallery's [URL] images link to an external URL, that's what I want my big image to do. What do I need to add to my actionscript and XML file to do this?
I wanted to know how to link Button within a movie clip linking to Frame Label?I am using Action-script 3.0
I am trying to use the following AS inside the movie clip from where i want to go to the other frame labeled as advt_sms but i am not able to go to that page[code]...
I'm trying to load an xml file from via http into my flash 8 file. Locally it works fine but when on the server it fails. I assume this has to do the flash security sandbox. How do I get around this. I own the servers so is there some sort of fix that I upload to allow the swf to receive the data?
Im building a flash banner that takes dynamic xml data from another domain and displays them as links. To make the swf reload the xml (the xml links change all the time) every time Internet explorer is updated (instead of loading from the cache) I added +new Date().time to my URLrequest, and suddenly the links takes 9 seconds to display. Firefox doesnt have the cache problem and without the +new Date().time it displays the updated links almost instantaneously. Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I can fix it?? a 9 seconds loadtime is too long.
Here is the first parts of my code: __________________________________________________ ____________ var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var xmlData:XML = new XML(); //en trace variabel til hover state. Fjern da ogs variablen de steder den benyttes. var hover:Boolean;
[code]....
After that I use the linkList to dynamically create the links as textfields, with some formatting, hoverstate, linebreaks etc. only thing I changed was adding the +new Date().time, and it displays the links so slow.
i am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?
i have created a flash animation for my homepage, i want to make part of that flash animation a "enter" button so when clicked would go to my page 2 on my website.
i have never done any script before and only used dreamweaver on a mac. is there an easy way to create this button to link to my next page and to stop my file to stop looping?
In my "actions" layer I have a function that loads a gallery of a external file called gallery.swf. The swf loads successfully but I cant remove that. The only way to remove is to call removeChild(mLoader.content); I noticed that the movies loads without addChild.
But sometimes also calling removeChild(mLoader.content) the content of mLoader is not removed and still appears in the stage.
he big thing I want to make work here is the linking of images to a separate url. So when the images are rotating through, I want the image to be clickable. This link relates directly to the files attached. This actually shows three separate swf files linking to three separate xml files. Now I would love to incorporate this all into one swf and xml, however, I'm happy with what I have been able to do up to this point (although I feel it is somewhat of a workaround to what would be best.'m anxious for some guidance from this point. I've found a lot of tutorials, but they all seem to be slightly different and therefore make it challenging to figure out how this should work.
I'm just new to the flash and not so familiar to the action script in the flash, i'm making a portfolio using the flash now but my problem is how to add links and change the font size&color to this XML photo gallery.
I'm looking for a tool to facilitate mulitple webpage file uploads from a single file browse dialogue. I know this has been asked previously, but I can't find anything current.I'd like to check file size prior to upload, and I gather Flash is still the only way to do that cross-browser? Ideally, I'd like an upload progress metre.I'll be using Linux and Apache servers, but don't have access to install add-ons such as PHP APC. Again, I assume something flash-based is the only option there?
I've looked at SWFUpload, but that appears to be another of these projects where the developers have become quite zealous and turned a simple concept into a full suite of tools for the masses.It seems quite cumbersome and I don't think I want to use it for my purpose.I'd prefer not to have to write something from scratch for this.suggest a non-Flash alternative if there is one? I do need full cross-browser compatibility without too many layers of degradation, so anything HTML 5 probably isn't what I want.
I am new to flash and trying to find out how to link from one page on my flash site to another. My example is: I am constructing an accommodation site and have 3 pictures of 3 different rooms on my 'Rates' page. If a user clicks on one of the pictures, it should take them to the photo gallery page for that room so they can view all the photos for that one room. How do I link from a photo to a page in my gallery. I have got as far as turning the photo images into buttons. My gallery is all set up with the photos. I have looked at the URLRequest, but my flash site is not uploaded to a server and I don't know what the link would be to the gallery.
I have an XML based photo gallery which I'm using to present my portfolio. I'm trying make the "title" to work as a link. I am attaching the two files: FLA and XML. I'm not including the pictures.
I amusing the great Kirupa Flash gallery and have tweaked it so that I only am using the thumbnail scroll box to link to external html or asp pages.The xml file all loads correctly, though when I pass the "link" to the getURL the output is the entire XML "link" node.[code]
im trying to load some HTTP URL from a xml file into a actionscript function..Its xml gallery i was successfull in loading the pics the description but im stuck at the url....The XML file is structured this way....
<Node myURL="images/cow.jpg" myTitle="Cow" myDesc=" libero sed dapibus aliquet, quam risus luctus lacus, vitae tincidunt dui diam dictum mauris. Morbi tempor, Nunc eleifend sapien ut odio pharetra eu aliquet eros fermentum. Proin et nisi vel risus eleifend pulvinar. "myThumb="images/thumbs/cow_thumb.jpg" onlinelink="http://vaughntucker.com/exflowers/"offlinelink="projects/web.swf"/>
I need to place the on and offline links into a onclick button fuction in flash.so i imported the xml data it works fine for the title so i used the same code for the url
here it is... allOnlinelink.push(element .@onlinelink); allOfflinelink.push(element .@offlinelink); the next function pulls the url of the current index var currentWeb:String = allOnlinelink[currentIndex]; var currentCD:String = allOfflinelink[currentIndex];
I have been trying to insert flash file but I keep getting error messages that: Not Found The requested URL /annimations/Snow.html was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I firstly publish flash into both swf and http files. Then, I opened view source of the http file and pasted the code onto the dreamwaever file. <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="[URL]" width="700" height="500" id="Snow" align="middle"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /> <param name="movie" value="Snow.swf" /> [Code] .....
In addition, I deleted code that swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) on the http file. The dreamweaver gave an error message that the code swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) can cause error when downloading the flash. Finally all http, swf and flash files were uploaded. But I still got the error message above. In the past, I managed to upload flash using the method above, although I did not get any message regarding swfobject.registerObject(FlashID).
I'm trying to build a workaround for embedding my (downloaded) flash videoplayer. (it's the JWplayer...)
At the moment, when somebody wants to embed the videoplayer they have to include the swf with all the added flashvars (url...). That's messy, and it feels a bit risky... people who know what they are doing can also just remove the plugin and other added data, resolving in me not being able to track pageviews etc.[code]...
Turns out that, when I use file_get_contents on a regular test file, info.php, that responds through a $_GET['var'], the above stated code works, but when I use it on the flashplayer, it doesn't...
As in: the flash file does not seem to be accepting (or responding to) the added header variables...
I'm having some troubles getting my xml gallery to work properly. The gallery works almost fine though, it finds the images from the xml and shows it as it should. The problem is that when i click on the images which all have a link, it does not go to the link but shows me an error:
I'm attempting to create a gallery viewer similar to the Apple on here: [URL]. Where the slide indicators are linked with the forward and back arrow controls. What I have is my forward and back arrows controlling the content, newsHolder MC. I also have the dot indicators controlling the newsHolder MC correctly. How to link the forward and back arrows to sync with the dot indicators?
PHP Code: function dotPressHandler (e:Event):void { changeIt(e.currentTarget.id); //current selection history code if (currentButton) { TweenMax.to(currentButton.dotCenter, 0.25, {removeTint:true, ease:Expo.easeOut}); [Code] .....
I am new new to flex development.I am building a flex application which uses rest APIs. Right now I have created different for different API calls (login, logout, search etc.) And all these services are in main mxml application file.I am wondering if I can create a separate mxml file like services.mxml that I can use to call any service.
