ActionScript 2.0 :: Sort A Sub Array Based On One Element Within It?
Aug 23, 2004
how to sort a sub array based on one element within it? I have an array which contains a number of sub arrays. The sub arrays each have an element consisting of a single number. I need to sort the sub arrays within the "mother" array using this number as the key.
but it didn't work. I guess length is not a property of each array element.
By the way, the array is already large (270,000 elements) - so I need the sort to work very fast, and I don't want to be adding anything else into the array.
sort an array by a specific prorpiety of his elements. For example, i've an array in which in every sector is placed a Loader. Every Loader have an url, then i want to sort alfebatically the Loaders considering the contentLoaderInfo.url prorpiety of each of them
Is it possible to, if you have an array of class names like ActionScript Code: var city01names:Array = ["pic_01", "pic_02", "pic_03" ...] make a new array which would read these names, instantiate them, and push them into a new array containing the instances of all these pictures, which I could then use for a slideshow?
Normally, I'd just like to sort the array alphabetically using the name field, which is easy enough using the following code. However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?
I have an array of n Movieclips placed in a circle rotating around the y axis. I have to make sure that the MCs with the higher z values are behind the ones with a lower value, i.e childIndex. I tried a couple of approaches but I don't seem to get it right.
I've been trying to sort objects depths based on their Y position but have not been able to do it efficiently. I was able to successfully sort objects with a selection sort algorithm and a quick sort algorithm; however, both have only been partly successful. Selection sort gets about 8-10/30 FPS with 13 objects and gets about 14-18/30 FPS. This is not good enough as I figure I could have as many as a hundred objects to be sorted at once.
After digging around, I found that array.sort() is more efficient than a quick sort implemented in AS3 and that calling swapChildren() or swapChildrenAt() at every swap was bogging it down. So now I am copying the objects array and sorting it with sort() and then comparing the two and swapping displayObjects so as only to call the swapChildren() or swapChildrenAt() method once per element. It appears to be running, and at full speed, though it won't swap correctly. Here is my code:
I have two arrays. One contains numbers and the other contains strings. I want to do a sortOn(DECENDING) for the number array and then have the string array sort to match. if my string array is
Updated question: Is there a way to sort dynamic texts based on the variable (or simple value) they represent? Old dribble: I'm looking for some pointers for a problem with making a table. It may be that I have started off in the wrong direction - anyways, I'm stuck now. The .png displays my objects, and how they are connected/grouped. The highlighted (red) shows the variable containing the points.
The pink with the most points should be displayed higher than the rest, and 2nd most points should ofc be 2nd highest. I have tried taking the red variable out of the pink, but I could not think of a way of moving the red variable based on its own value. I'm going to edit the red variables (as the world cup goes on), and there is no need for cookies and such. And if there is a simpler way of doing the setup, let me know. I'm using SwishMax3 (SM2 up till a few days ago, so I'm more used to as2..)
I have 2 arrays: [6,1,4] ["apple","pear","orange"]
how to sort the fruit array base on the first? If the first array was sorted as ascending order:- [1,4,6] the second array follows the first:- ["pear","orange","apple"]
if it was sorted as descending order:- [6,4,1] the second one follows the first array order ["apple","orange","pear"]
I have an array called dropTarg1 which stores dropped-in items.I want to loop through this array and in a textfield, display each array item on a new line of this text fieldI think I need to use something like Array.join("/n") but I can't get it working properly. I hope that the /n would create a new line of the text field called reviewBoxContentText.
Is there anyway to take take a "screenshot", "save" or "capture" the active SWF element on a page as an image? I'd like for users to be able to simply click a button on my page, instead of having to need to manually take a screenshot of the entire page and then crop the image to show only the SWF element.I found a Jquery method, although I am unsure if it could work with SWF files. It basically captures an area of an Image element on the page and allows you to save that as a separate image. What I would need however, is to capture the SWF as the image instead. Note: I do not have access to the SWF code so I cannot achieve this using Actionscript or anything like that
I want to sort an array by another array, so it returns the new array in the order of the array to sort by e.g. its for having a flexible priority of some kind of quantity.
I have a problem positioning a Flash element inside a div tag. The problem is, that the flash element is changing it's size based on the user input. I need a way how I can dynamically get the actual size of the flash element, and to change the behavior of the div element the flash is integrated in. actually I want to place it in the middle of the div. right now I gave the flash element width and height of 100% but that way I can not center the element inside the div...
I have 4 buttons and an empty array. When a button is clicked,I'm adding a element to an array with array.push. However, I want to check the array 1st to see if that element exists. If so, then don't add it. Here's what I have thus far
[Code]...
Now I'm taking it I'd have a conditional statement to see if the element already exists. Unfortunatly I cannot just disable the button. I searched the AS dictionary but oddly enough it doesn't have an easy way to search an array. And IndexOf seems to only work for a string.
I'm using a Coldfusion Dreamweaver template with cfinclude tags. The header contains a flash movie where I'd like to pass 2 variables via a query string to load the correct image and menu button based on the variables in the ActionScript.
pic variable can be 1 - 3 and button variable can be 1 - 7 depending on the each pages body element id. So the logic would be something like this for my flash movie:
if body id =home, then pic=1 and button=1 if body id =about, then pic=current variable and button=2 if body id =page3, then pic=1 variable and button=3
[Code].....
What's the best way to pass these variables depending on the current page body element id?
I am trying to sort XML data based on an attribute "price" (or p). I'm trying to sort the prices numerically so that, for example, 1230.00 does not show up before 19.00. I have defined a preliminary price sort function as follows:
[Code]...
How do I edit this function so that the prices will display in numerical order rather than string value order?
I have a two-dimensional Array of ID's and vote count - voteArray[i][0] = ID, voteArray[i][1] = vote count
I want the top 3 voted items to be displayed in different colors, so i have a 2nd Array - sortArray.
Then when i diplay the results i plan on using the data from sort array to find out what color the voteArray data should have. The data from voteArray should be in correct order by ID.[code]...
What would be the easiest way to do a multi sort in AS3. Something similar to array_multisort() in PHP... like this: sort a multidimentional array using array_multisort[code]....
is it possible to sort array elements using more than one sorting function? My problem is this: I want to sort an array firstly for one property of the objects inside, then with the help of a function and again with the help of another function... I've tried doing this:
EDIT::Just realised I could of asked this a lot shorter =/How / Can I use array.push() to make an associative array that keeps its order the way I added the item?Sorry if this is confusing!!
ORIGINAL:So I have this Multidimensional array that stores objects that are sorted into groups.
The array structure looks like this:
[Code]...
So I thought about adding them using the array function push() but how do I do this do its associative?
I have XML file with a item categoryName. I put these into an array - menuArray. But there are duplicates in the array and I need to know how to sort out the duplicates so just one of each of the items remains in the array to build my menu.
I have an array of colors that i want to sort from light to dark. currently I am reading them in as uints and sorting the array decending using colors.sort(Array.DESCENDING); It almost works the way I want it to but there are always a couple of dark colors mixed in with lighter ones( black in a range of yellows for example). Anyone know of a good way to compare rgb values?
