1) I bought a photo gallery that works well, but when I use it in a project I'm working on, the thumbnail images don't display, but everything else does including XML loaded text so I'm pretty sure it has to do with the actionscript and the level it's targeting.
2) I also can't figure out how to shrink the size of the full view photo which seems to also be loaded somehow with action script to a blank MC, but it may not be in the script below... there's a lot of script here that I don't understand.
I am trying to display the title of the thumbnail image, which is being loaded from the XML file. If i trace the title then it is printed, but it is not displayed in the TextField.
Below is the code, i used so far.
Code: var Current_page:Number; var Total_pages:Number; var Detail_mc:Array = new Array();
I'm having issue to display from a selected thumbnail a bunch of images by their category which I loaded from a xml file. I don't have any issues to parse them.[code]...
I have a MC filled with button thumbnail images. I am trying to tell the thumbnail to display the corresponding fullsize image. the script I have for the first button is
on (release) { picts.gotoAndStop(2); }
Picts is the name of the MC containing full size images. There is no response to the button.
We bought this Flash template to save time:to make this siteI knew a template would limit us (especially since I only know HTML/a little CSS), but of course, we need a few tweeks. To save time (and if anyone is interested), I have uploaded the source files so you can see the structure here:The flash file is set up like this:Fla file for all the image souces & layoutIndex.html File has some sort of fancy javascriptText.html file is the editable file where non-flash-knowing dingbats like me can just edit the text and POOF! Magic!I know I have bastardized them from the original and some stuff is probably wonky.The biggest problem is that the "thumbnails" that you click on at the starpage are auto-generated, cropping the top left 100x100 square. I don't know why this is the case, and honestly, I think it looks awful.
Is there any way to manually set the thumbnail images, so they are cropped artistically rather than randomly? I asked the template tech support and they told me to "make my images 100x100". I did that for the first blue logo, and it looks like CRAP! Sure, I have the icon I would like, but when someone goes to browse the gallery, they get a 100x100 icon displaying instead of a lovely fullscreen pic.
i am building a digital portfolio and i have managed to get the thumbnails on a horizontal scrollbar but i want to be able to click on one to load the full image. I dont know where to start though. The code i have so far is:
This is a code that open a XML file, containing a small list of images, and place them as thumbs on the page.It kinda work now, but the funny thing is, the order of the thumbs is totally scrambled compared to the xml list, and I can't just see why!It has something to do whith when the loaders gets transfered via addEventListener to the placePics function, more than that I cant find out!There may be the better way to put up this code. I just feel putting it up in two nested addEventListeners like this is not the best of practice. But I see no other way here.
package { import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.*; public class thumbHolder extends MovieClip { var xmlRequest:URLRequest; var
I have completed the excellent Flash Thumbnail Gallery Tutorial (and the Picture gallery Tutorial). I have been able to update the dynamic text content, and basically customize the look and feel of the .swf. That works when I upload it to my website.My problem is that neither in Preview mode (via Flash) nor once uploaded to my website can I get my XML file to call my own images up. It will call the tutorial images from Kirupa if I leave them in there.
I have tried to use relative and absolute file paths for the image URL, and neither is working. I even tried using "image ID=" tags inside the node, to no avail. I have an image directory that is a few folders deep, so I tried putting the XML, FLA and SWF (all together) in different places, updating the SWF on my html page, and then republishing. In the place where my image should be, there is nothing.Flash reports an error when I hit CTRL+Enter that it cannot find those particular files.
I am trying to create a dynamic menu for a video player. Much like the one found here (MTV OverDrive. )Obviouslythis is a Flash site and I can only assume the video list is being generated via XML. I am trying to accomplish the same thing, only I am not using FCS.
I just want to create the buttons dynamically with thumbnail images and text via XML, and in turn load the video based on a button click. I have the video part working fine, using a video object, I just need to know how to create the buttons WITH THUMBS from an XML file. I can figure out how to load the video once the button is clicked. The problem is the menu itself and loading the different thumbnail with the button.I am sure it has something to do with "attachMovie,DuplicateMovie, or CreateEmptyMovieClip" but I am not sure how to do this with XML.
I am calling 18 images into the empty .mc from local drive. MasterHomePage_mc.ImgButton1_btn.Img1_mc.Img1Holde r_mc. ist working fine and images are NOT blinking when they called up.
But, once I have done a simple thumbnail image bar with spinning 18 images they start blining.
I think there is a probles with speed of loading images.
I have built a gallery similar to the one found on Kirupa with a siding thumbnail gallery that references xml. Everything works great except that the images I want to load at their large size vary in width so when they load referencing the upper left hand corner they are not centered. I would like to load them so that each image in centered in the "picture" image area. I created a new movie clip and gave it the instance name of "picture" and center justified it but the images now load with THEIR upper left corner in the center of the "picture" image area. do I have to add code to the xml? is there anything I can ad to th AS to load pictures centered?
I wanted to modify the XML Portfolio Tutorial to be able to create a grid of images with the thumbnails.I'm not sure how to control the x and y coordinates of the thumbnail images using the method shown in the tutorial.
How would I go about editing the code for this tutorial: http:[url]......so that there are 8 thumbnails displayed at a time and instead of scrolling based on mouse position, the user clicks a next or previous button to display the next set of 8 thumbnails in the xml?I attempted to get it to display the thumbnails vertically by changing some x values in y and a width variable into height, but that failed miserably.This site is an example of what I am trying to accomplish: http:[url]....
Ok the fourth page of the website is a portfolio page with 16 thumbnails (4 across 4 down) which opens a larger pic on the same page to the right.
I can't figure out what to change. The first and third thumb down seem to be linked and open the same image. Same with two and two down from that and so on. I want to separate them so each open their own image. If I edit it in PS both thumbs change...
I click several times and well thumb one and the third one down is:
I'm working on one current project, I don't have any issues to load a SWF into a main SWF but I can't figure out how to apply dynamically the scale down and up into a thumbnail images size while using the Resize event handler to fit in any browsers sizes.
I load SWF into a Loader object then add it into a container => currentMC. I want to size it and keep all the pieces inside this container. Therefore no matter browser size, I just want to be able to apply scale on it to fit it.
Does anyone know how to do that? How would I deal with stageWidth and stageHeight?
I have a flash image gallery that loads images through xml. Images have to be croped for thumbnails. So u have to have two folders, one for the thumbnails an another file for the big size images. I would like to know if there is a way to load only one image ( and not this image's thumbnail too) and with a script or something, to resize this image to get the thumbnail. To make my self clearer here is the xml code:
image../gallery_flash/imageGallery/images/watches/i1005.jpg image thumb../gallery_flash/imageGallery/thumbs/watches/i1005.jpg thumb
(For some reason it doesnt show the xml right...) I dont want to have the line (thumb>../gallery_flash.), but only load one image and get the thumbnail also.
I am going to create a scrolling panel with quite large image. The height will be 400px and the width will be different from image to image.
If I do this in only flash the swf will be too large for use on the Internet. So I want to load the images from a xml-document. And this is my problem:
How do I load my images into the panel from an xml-document? And the width of my panel should be as long as the total width of the images are.
i am working on a website where i want certain images to load whenever a user clicks on a thumbnail. I want a preloader to appear before the image is displayed. I created this so far:
I am working on a website where I want certain images to load whenever a user clicks on a thumbnail. I want a preloader to appear before the image is displayed. I created this so far:
mcLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); loadListener = new Object(); mcLoader.addListener(loadListener); mcLoader.loadClip("foto.jpeg", placeholder_mc); loadListener.onLoadProgress = function(placeholder_mc, loadedBytes, totalBytes) { [Code] ....
When I preview this of course I see my image, but I want to know if the preloader works. So I hit ctrl+enter again and... nothing. The progress bar (bar_mc) blinks once and then blank... a white screen... Besides, I want this code to be executed when a user clicks a thumbnail, how can I implement this on a button, while at the same time, the first thumbnail should load automatically, so there's no exmpty page when the user first opens the website?
I have implemented a thumbnail. Then when I click on the thumbnail images, i want to create a popup window in flash. But the problem here is that no action is performing when i click on the thumbnails.
function createThumbnails(xml,MC){ var totThmbs = xml.firstChild.childNodes.length; var Hldr = MC.createEmptyMovieClip("Hldr",200); Hldr.attachMovie("thumbnail_bg","thumbnail_bg",100); Hldr._y = 235; [Code] .....
I'm trying to find a way to use the Twicsy API to load a fullscreen of thumbnail images in Flash. When you use the Twicsy API to look for the pics via the [URL]. You get the following results. [Code] ..... How can I write a script to create a wall of images based on the results above?
images skew when loaded up using loadmovieclip fuction thumbnail images should load at resolution 150x150 but display at 150x175 cant find scaling as in my code (couldnt get scaling to work right with my looping function so left it out)
How would you guys go about creating an horizontally scrolling panel of thumbnail images? I want a panel that scrolls for ever in both directions and it also needs to be controlled via two arrow buttons not a mouse over type scroller. I would also like to animate with Tweens in action script to get a nice smooth scroll.I know some as3 but I can't work out how to make the scroller repeatedly scroll in both directions.
bit stuck on something here and hoping that someone will be able to answer this question. i have a gallery generated via xml - i have three text fields on the stage that display the title and description of the thumbnail item.
[Code]...
not quite sure of the best/easiest way is to do it - call from the library and attach to mouse or something along those lines?
I have a flash file sitting inside of a web page in our company domain. There is another server (used to store images) that is part of the domain but is not running any web services (for security reasons). A folder on the images server is however shared in such a way that any site on the web server can display images from the images server as long as the user is plugged into the domain. For example, both I and my boss can pull up a web site on the web server and see all the information, but only he can see the images because I have Vista Basic and no domain support. This is done via "<img src='\serverNamedirectory.'/>"
That's ok, but on this particular instance I don't want to display the image on the webpage, I want it in a SWF on the page. However the SWF can't seem to load the images even though the page it's sitting in could. I've tried tons of variations of URLRequests and Loaders, most resulting in security errors. Since most of the online discussions about these errors revolve around cross-domain access, I can't seem to find any tech support for our specific situation.
I am creating an image gallery where the user can select from several thumbnail images. Once selected, the thumbnails will enlarge and load the full sized image. My problem is that while the user is waiting for the full sized image to load, he may decide to close that image and view another image. I am trying to find a way to stop a loader from loading.ere is the code I have used. My problem is that even though the user has clicked on the unloadBtn, the loader continues to load the file. Is there a way to disable that?
I can't seem to wrap my head around this image loading problem with my actionscript 3.0 project. I suspect it has something to do with how I have the crossDomain.xml set up. The problem is that I can load youtube movie thumbnail images from [URL] into flash and display them completely fine when testing/running the SWF in a stand alone (local) player. But when I upload the SWF and test it through the web I receive Sandbox Errors and Security Violations. Here is my crossDomain.xml (stored on the root of the server):
