I am working on a Flex mobile project and am using a TileLayout to layout a bunch of groups. The problem is, if any text in one of the groups spans several lines, ALL tiles get resized to the same height. I need the tile width to be the same for all tiles, but I want the tile height to be the tallest only on each row.
I'm doing an xml image gallery. The bitmaps are loaded using a loader and loadClip. What's the easiest way to read the bitmap width and height? Is it worth trying BitmapData? PS I'm tracing the _width and _height of the container mc on onLoadComplete, but it's giving me 0, 0.
When I publish my FLV video using Flash CS3 and the "SkinUnderAll" option...the player controls are not visible unless I change the height & width in the html file Flash created.But, Flash shows the height & width 3-times in the html.
Question-1: Why 3-times? What does each of the 3 Height & Width references do?
Question-2: How should I modify the code to be able to see the entire video and the player controls?
It seems if I change all 3 everything just gets bigger and bigger.
1 - I import it into Flash CS3 on a PC w/XP Pro using... File | Import | Video take all the defaults and choose "Skin Under All" as the player option.
2 - In "Properties" panel at bottom of screen Flash shows the video as 640x480
3 - I then click File | Publish to publish the video. Flash creates all my files for me.
4 - I then put the folder with the files on my website.
5 - The video plays but the player controls are not visible.
6 - I see the Height & Width referenced 3 times in the html file Flash created for me (and none are 640x480, they are 550x400 !)
7 - I try changing the 550x400 to 640x480 in all three places... no good. Even at 1000x1000 the entire player is not visible. Everything just gets larger.
What are each of the 3 references to Height and Width in the html file Flash Creates and which should I change to simply show all the player controls?
I have a 50x50 fixed rectangle in the center of the stage. I am using this rectangle as a "hit area" to copy pixels of a bitmap that is draged by the user to line up an area of the image he/she would like to crop.I have preview of the hit area displayed while the bm is being dragged which works well. However, once the bitmap is scaled using the slider component the preview area no longer reflects what is in the hit area.
Code below:
function mouseDownHandler(e:MouseEvent):void { // Contraint #8 - Define drag bounds[code].....
I am trying to reference to top level (stage) width and height of the main stage for the placement of something located inside a movieclip on the stage.
My code is: Code: my_loader.x = (stage.stageWidth - my_loader.width)/2; my_loader.y = (stage.stageHeight - my_loader.height)/2;
But this seems to just relate to the width/height of the mc that my_loader is nested in...
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
I am wokring on a movie and I want to tile a movieclip instead of a bitmap in AS3. I have figured out masking and the bitmap tiling in AS3, but am still encountering trouble finding a good solution for simply tiling an MC symbol across a set width and height in AS3.

I am looking at the SimpleButton entirely wrong. Here's what I'm doing (inside of a MovieClip):
[Code]...
the close_btn.width and height remain 0. Am I supposed to just rely on the DisplayObject members of the SimpleButton completely and ignore width/height/x/y or what?
I have a list with tile layout,I have given the item renderer's width as 100%, but the item dosen't resize to fit the content . The same scenario works well for horizontal and vertical layout.
How would I make it so that Flash will only tile this one line horizontally to fit the width screen, instead of the whole stage? (Right now it tiles Y as well as X)
Code: stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; var tile:Sprite = new Sprite(); stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, reTile); function tileBG():void{ tile.graphics.beginBitmapFill(new Tile(0, 0)); [Code] .....
The size of the original MC is 300 x 200. Using the above code how can I convert it to a bitmap 5 times larger as the original MC? (the original MC is a vector drawing)
I've got a timer event which seems to once in a while call itself before the ENTER_FRAME event handler which I made to force a Bitmap object to be top-most at all times by adding itself to the stage again.
The timer event fires every 50 milliseconds.
I tried setting the priority of the ENTER_FRAME event to 1, which reduced the ugly flickering, but did not remove it.
How can I force this Bitmap object to be top-most at literally all times with no flickering whatsoever?
I'm making a game where you place tiles on a grid. When placing a tile, I need to check the existance of another tile to the left, right, or above and below, otherwise the tile should not be placed.. Here is a function I thought would work, that accepts one variable (the position of the tile just as it is about to be placed) :-
private function checkSurroundingTiles(gridPosition:uint) { var t1 = gridPosition - 12; var t2 = gridPosition - 1; var t3 = gridPosition + 1; var t4 = gridPosition + 12; for(i = 0; i < gridRefArray.length; i++) { var checkTile = gridRefArray[i]; if(checkTile == t1) { return true;
I have a flash banner graphic that I created at 1000px wide by 420px tall. I want this to be fluid and fill the browser width, so that when the browser is rescaled the swf fills the horizontal space. My problem is that there is content below it that needs to touch it, but the height is trying to fill 100% so it is creating vertical space between the flash content and the div below it.
I guess a better way to describe it is that I don't want to define the height I just want the width to be 100%. At 100% height there is unused space so I need to make the height maybe undefined or something smaller then 100%?Also, if you make the browser too small vertically the width will not fill. So I want 100% width regardless of the browser height.
I'm trying to change the position of a movieclip I've added to the stage. When I try to access stage.width or stage.height I get 0. I've tried MovieClip(root).stage, DisplayObject(root).stage, root.stage, stage, and simply width and height. All of these are equal to zero.
I want to write a shell that creates instances of an app and scales it down for animating. Well, I created my shell class and instanced the app and set scales for x and y and then I traced the height and width because I wasn't sure what they'd be. I thought they'd be based on the stuff on the stage or whatever, but they both came up zero. So I'm not sure how that works, am I supposed to have set those values?
I have an empty movieclip in the stage that holds a backgroundbg._width = Stage.width;bg._height = Stage.height;the background is loaded from XML and works fine since I'm not set the width and heightbut if I set: bg._width = Stage.width and bg._height = Stage.height
I have two Canvas A and B, A is the child of B.A can be resized by some user actions like adding some UI components to its base.A is bounded by an other Parent canvas B which should show scolling handles if its child A gets too large.I would like A to have the same width and height of B (or really close) while the calculated width and height of A is smaller than those of B.If w or h of A get larger than those of B then A should grow and B will show scrolling.
I'm a student for design and want to build myself a portfolio, showing pictures and being able to jump between fit_to_screen mode to actual_pixel_size mode. The following code is just the beginning.
I've wrote the code mixing some tutorials (sorry, but I didn't find a good way to clean it so it'll be more focused) - I'm a really new about action script.
myFile is a mc waiting for an external parameter run_url - a string contains something like "/projects/illustration/alice_in_wonderland.jpg"
You can see the trace command marked as red. I'd expect it to give me a number of the movie clip's width, yet i get "undefined"
import mx.utils.Delegate; var streamingID:Number; var fileLoaded:Boolean;
