View 1 RepliesI have a movie clip (with instance name rectangle_mc) on the stage. Within this movie clip there are two separation animations on the timeline. The ROLL_OVER animation starts on frame "over" and the MOUSE_OUT animation starts on frame "off." If I roll over the movie clip, the initial animation plays, and when I mouse out the other animation plays to restore it to it's initial state. However, once the rollover animation has played once, it will not play again when I roll over it again, but for some reason the MOUSE_OUT plays every time.

This should work! I cant figure out why it doesn't. Fortunatley I discovered that it worked perfectly in Flash Player 9. But I guess it must run on FP 10, snice I was thinking to implement this in an AIR for Android application. On the stage I got a button with the instance name of: submit. In the library I have a MovieClip with the linkage of: radioButton. This MovieClip is just to frames with different grafics. It is supposed to work like a checkbox or a radiobutton.

Here's the site: [URL] From feedback I've gotten, it appears that under certain circumstances the first image in a set of images does not load properly, although I haven't seen it myself. I'm told this happens only in Firefox. And I believe only Flash player 8. Works fine with FF and Flash player 9, or IE with 8 or 9 I believe.
View 14 RepliesI've just stumbled upon a case when Flash app freezes in production Flash Player and works smoothly in a debug version. It doesn't throw any errors or exceptions. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? Why is it happening or how one is supposed to debug in such case?And a side question - what exactly is different in debug version from internal point of view? Any good writeup on the topic?
UPDATE:I didn't mention, but the trouble is with Flash Player 11, it probably matters, cause Flash Player 10 doesn't have any problems with the same code.
look @ the source for this page [URL] It works great in all Webkit/Mozilla browers but in IE 9 we can only see the top half of the swf and in IE 8 it doesnt load @ all. I searched all the other threads and nothing seems to work
View 1 RepliesIn The Flash Application, my gallery is working as it is meant to. Yet, when I upload the swf to the live site, the first image, text and movie of my gallery works but it refuses to scroll to the next item in my XML.
I have given it an absolute path to that server which works in Flash but not when it is online.
I made this BlogFeed.swf file. Everything works just fine in Flash IDE. It loads the XML, renders it, displays fine and that's it: the world is filled with love and data.
The problem occurs when I try to use my swf online.
Here's the scenario:
SERVER A (Altervista)
hosts the swf file, trying to read the RSS Feed from...
SERVER B (my client's server)
serves the RSS Feed of his blog
[ things I already tryed ]
1) I wrote a crossdomain.xml file (allowing SERVER B domain to access the swf), place it at the same level of the swf file on SERVER A;
2) Set System.security.allowInsecureDomain("*") in the flash file
3) checked on both servers the server-to-server permissions (Altervista lets you do this via its own control panel; the client's server needed me to email the support: did it and they allowed me to connect)
4) moved the swf on ANOTHER server, on which I am completely sure that server-to-server communications are allowed, since I already did something like that.
Nothing changes: always getting the damn HTTPStatus = 0 and no items are shown.
What I really don't understand is why it does work from Flash IDE connecting to SERVER B and it fails (with NO IOError and HTTPStatus = 0, so no debug hints at all...) when I use it in server-to-server mode.
I have a FLASH portfolio that opens up with 4 options. The 2nd option works. But if you click on the first or fourth option, instead of going to their respective scenes it goes to then 2nd options scene. Here is the kicker though - if you refresh the page Control+F5 everything works fine How come it only works after you refresh the page? here is link FLASH PORTFOLIO. Then click on personal portfolio link.

View 1 RepliesMy Preloader works fine when I preview in Download mode BUT only loads the first frame of animation.I have attached my file- just a simple image fade ( it has a lot more images but no space here!)Here is the code in the Actions layer:
Code:
stop();
this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onWatch);
this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onTotal);[code]...........
I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.
I've been working on a couple of media viewers/players which use XML playlists to dynamically generate their content.
One is this mp3 player: [URL]
The other is this image viewer: [url="http://tav.ind.in/stuff/comicexperiment/comic.html"]http://tav.ind.in/stuff/comicexperiment/comic.html[/URL
Both work fine in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer, neither one loads the information, and all text fields read as undefined.
I've started my first flash movie and it works in IE but not in Firefox. Can anyone help me out? Here is the code that I am using (I pulled the syntax from a web site and modified it):
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/
cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"

It's not exactly that, but it works the same way. It's about a login form with Flash and PHP. It must send data (username and password) to PHP, PHP has to check for a record in MySQL and then to return data to Flash. How does it works and how to return the data to Flash?
View 1 RepliesI have 2 'getURL' functions on one keyframe, one a text (converted) button, the other an image. They are both next to one-another however only the text (converted) one works. The top bit of code is the text (converted) button:
bt_url.onRelease = function (){
getURL("[URL]","_blank");};
bt_ethicaltrading = function (){
getURL("[URL]","_blank");
};
The code for each is exactly the same, I have checked instance names, tried different url's and even created an invisible button for the image based one. I have also tried putting the buttons on the same layer.
I've been working on redesigning our site for the past few day snow and I'm probably just getting tired/burnt out so I came here for some extra opinions and eyes. I have a flash file that will simply fade in and out logos of companies we've dealt with in the past and they are being pulled from XML so I can update it more easily later. Anyway, I bring it over to our developer machine and the SWF file works fine if I few it just as it is in the browser, however, the second I embed it, no matter what method I use (SWFobject, old school embed tags or whatever) it shows there's a flash file there but the XML is obviously not reading.
I've tried using relative and absolute paths (again only on a test server so the absolute path is a localhost path) and still nothing. Our site is dynamic, but the page its on, our default/index page, is pretty straightforward. Here's the online of our folders.

When the loader finishes, it send the data to a plotter function. the plotter function clears the graphics in a shape called graphLine.It then draws a line from one plot point to another using the lineTo function.Basically ever 3 second it makes this request and redraws the screen and updates the value of a textfield to the current y value. In flex builder 3, it works great in debug mode. The screen updates just fine. However, when I make the release build and test it out in a browser, it loads the data fine, but will not draw it until I stop the graphing process.Here's the code for the graphing function
Code:
public function graphData(data:Array):void
{

My swf is on a secure server (https / Apache). It makes calls to a php script in order to connect to a database. This works fine in firefox, but for some reason doesn't work in Internet Explorer (have tried using version 6 & 7).
Now I've read Gary Rogers' page about going to Internet Options> Advanced> Disable the option "save encrypted pages to server". The problem is that this option wasn't checked when testing the games in IE, meaning that it was not the cause of the problem, however, most other people said this fixed their issue.
I set up an ease array using an older code to scroll to different X/Y coordinates on my site through button clicks. However it only works if published in Flash 6. Here is the code:
/*EASING ************************************************** ********************/
function ease (objet, targetX, targetY, speed) {
if(!easingArray) {
easingArray = [[],[]];

I'm having an odd issue with a swf I'm trying to create with as3.
The swf file, when I test it in the flash enviroment, is working just fine, also when I open the swf file using a program like winamp it is also working just fine.
However when I use a browser, like IE, firefox, or opera one of the objects that I'm looking to use is lost. I have no idea why.
I have numerous swf files which work except one that is rather complex. When I debug the FLA of this problem file in flash CS4, it works fine. When I publish the FLA and open the subsequent SWF in Flash, it works fine. I open the same file in Flash Player or when I open it on a browser, the screen is white and nothing happens. When a right click on the browser frame and it offers me all the possibilities of a fully loaded movie, except that there is just a blank screen
View 1 RepliesI want my drop down menu put over flash area and it works but only in FF. Unfotunelly IE and Opera shows my menu under flash. The DHTML menu system is the simplest as possible and it was wrote from scratch by me. I've been trying everything, and still it doesn't work like it should. I tried to put the flash element by jquery.flashEmbed script and by standard code with param transparent, but it never works. Here is the xhtml: [URL]
View 3 RepliesI made a preloader for a flash slideshow with different announcements in AS 3.0.When I export the movie to preview it everything works fine. The loading rectangle fills up and then you see the slideshow. The problem comes after I embed it in HTML. Instead of the Preloader to show all i get is a white rectangle the size of the SWF and then the slideshow begins. It's as if it was ignoring the preloader completely. I don't understand why it works when I export it but not on the actual site.
Heres my preloader script:
Code:
stop();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loadingInfo);
function loadingInfo(e:Event):void {
[code]....
[URL]
In step 13 it's says:
Quote:
Before we test the final effect you will need to adjust some of your flash movies settings. First load up the File -> Publish Settings menu, select the "Flash" tab and set the version to "Flash Player 6" (this setting has to be applied as for some unknown reason the firework effect script will not function in any other versions) Now click "OK"
[URL]
there is any way to run this effect in flash player 8? I need it to be able to use filters.
Building a website and the navigation menu is flash (.swf file). The mnuLoader.swf file retrieves information from settings.xml file. Everything worked perfectly when I tested in localhost/website/page.html. When I upload to hosting server www.website/index.html the mnuLoader.swf displays but does not load (its like it can't find the settings or picture files and displays the same as when you are waiting for something to load etc).
I have tried changing the xml file path from relative to absolute and no change. All three files index.html - mnuLoader.swf - settings.xml are in the same directory and the mnu_imgs folder contains the img icons for the menu. I don't understand why it would work on localhost but not on the actual server? Also directly underneath on the website I have another flash banner (just looping text pretty much) that works fine both on localhost and actual server so am pretty sure is not an access issue etc.
The mnuLoader.swf is Flash 8
flash works on local machine but not server?
View 1 RepliesI made (or copied) this XML 3d Carousel: [URL]
I changed some settings, just what I needed like stage size, thumbnail size and so it doesn't spin too fast when mouse rolls over.
I replaced the images with my own, so I have like four now spinning around. It works fine when I hit Ctrl + Enter to test my movie and aswell the carousel.html works in the browser.
I uploaded all files (four images named c_img(number).png, carousel.xml, carousel.swf and the AC_RunActiveContent.js) all in the same folder to my website through FileZilla but the god damn movie doesn't work on the web. It just shows the background so it must be the images are not loading in correctly, but I can't find what's wrong. I've checked the file paths and they are correct, I don't use any cross-domains. Honestly I can't find the problem, it works on the tutorial site so why not on mine? I basically just copied all, nothing more.
I did notice a strange thing though. If I write the direct address in the browser address field [URL] so it loads in full screen, the image carousel shows but very far outside to the right of the screen. I used Firebug and changed the size of the flash movie so I could see far beyond, it's very f'ed up..
Direct link to it: [URL]
If you have Firebug, use it and change the size of the flash and you'll see the carousel to the right of the screen, outside the main flash content area. :/
Experience with Flash: very very little (very) Version: CS4 Operating system: XP Pro. I was given an FLV file to display on the web. I imported the file into flash and exported it as an html file.
The movie worked great online, but then I was asked to save a copy of the movie on a CD to send it to a client - I saved all the files in a folder. I tested it on my computer and I was able to view the movie, but when the client loaded the html page, all they saw was a bar (that has the volume & play buttons) and a green line that scrolls across it. Here's what it looks like
Some people can load the html file and view the movie and others cannot (on their desktop). On some computers I tried updating the flash player (I removed the existing one first), but it still did not work.
As much as I'd like to be, I am not a Flash developer - I just use it to the extent that I must (the nature of my job) Did I provide enough information for someone to be able to tell what the issue is and how to resolve it?
I am new to flash and have created my first flash video, a simple set of fading photos for my website front page.I am using Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks all CS3, The flash video is embeded in the webpage and works fine in preview mode in Dreamweaver but does not appear at all in the uploaded webpage.The flash video works fine through the link on the webpage.I have uploaded the AC_RunActiveContent.js script to a scripts folder and to the folder where the webpage is and also the folder containing the flash video file.
