ActionScript 3.0 :: Array With Empty Space?

I've been programming a simple shopping cart. The system has several product categories, and in each one, appears a list of products. Each product listing has a numeric stepper, for the client to put desired product quantity.
Now I have two Arrays (lets call them "arrayCat6" and the other "arrayEncomenda6"). arrayCat6 tells me the quantities for each product, even if the quantity is zero. The other is supposed to put only those whose quantity is different from zero.
The question I have is that, if in the products you choose two products, that have another one with zero quantity between them, the arrayEncomenda6 will have and empty entry, between the two products, and I don't understand why. Both Arrays are refreshed each time the numericstepper (of any product) is pressed.
Please does anyone know if this is a bug, or am I forgeting something. The code follows:

I'm filling arrays from a XML. These arrays have dynamic textFields inside them, and these textFields are childs of a movieclip.
I tween this movieclip, therefore making the array of textFields animate on the stage one by one. There are two sources of XML, one from an actual site, and another from a XML stored in the hdd. First i fill the arrays of textFields, and then animate the movieclip. I do this for the first one, then animate it, do it again for the 2nd one, animate it, again for the 1st one, animate it, so on so on.
myTween = new Tween(mc,"x",None.easeNone,sizeOfStage,0 - mc.width,mcSpeedAuto,true);
my tween ends at 0 - mc.width, the problem is, if i tween first the
"bigger" XML, when the next one which is smaller gets tweened, there's loads of empty space before it tweens the big one again (tweening whitespace?).
myTween.addEventListener(TweenEvent.MOTION_FINISH, onFinish);
onFinish i clear all the arrays (otherwise the tweening of the 2nd one would still have information of the 1st one e.g: 1st has 25 fields, second has 10, 1st shows it's 25 fields, 2nd shows 10, and the 15 that were left from from the 1st one) and call the tween on the 2nd one. I thought that by doing this i'd be clearing all that white space too, apparently not. I think the mc.width just keeps the "bigger" value and always tweens with that, taking longer to end in the 2nd case. I've tried setting the mc.width as the sum of textfield width's everytime i fill the arrays, but this hasn't worked either

Is there a way to have a rollover's listener trigger it's method as long as the mouse is in bounds of the target movie clip? I have a rollover being listened for by a movie clip that contains multiple children and none that fill the entire space so the rollout event that is also registered to this same movie clip will trigger when I roll into the empty space.
I could probably add a new child that fills the movie clip and set it's alpha to something low like .01 but I was wondering if there was a different way to do this. So the question again is, how can I have a mouse rollover trigger as long as it is in the movie clip's bounds even if there are empty spaces without children in them?

The empty space of a canvas does not fire events. My problem is I have a canvas in an application that shows a diagram consisting of different figures, but the canvas empty places do not trigger the events that I need, as the rollover. How I can make my canvas trigger events even in the empty spaces? I have set the background Color, mouseEnabled, color, border, alpha, opaqueBackground, etc, and nothing works. I'm using Flex 4, and I have to use only a mx:Canvas.

I have a multiple choice quiz designed for a client. I have an array that works thruout the questions, that if the user answers incorrectly, it stores the question number in the array. When the user reaches the end of the quiz, I dont want this array to always display at the end, since the user could have all the asnwers correct (which means the array should be empty). I have tried several different ways, but it seems that it never sends the empty array value to the server
_vars["myObject[array_list][]"] = null;
_vars["myObject[array_list][]"] = [];
It only seems to work if I provide a value (which I am trying to avoid). What I would like for it to do is send the url param: myObject[array_list][]=& (i.e. an empty value)

I'm trying to make a question game with 30 question divided into 3 dificulties, so i'm using arrays to have my questions randomized but not repetitive.
I made the code use the first parameter of the array (array[0]) then remove it from the array.
So, my array will have no more elements after a time. But, when my array have only 1 element, i cant play this element, and i need to use the representation of the empty array to get it to play.

What is the most efficient way to empty an Array or Vector in ActionScript 3?I've always just re-initialized them:
vector = new Vector.<T>();
array = [];
It doesn't look like there's an empty() function or anything similar.

I don't know why, but for some reason I'm not getting the contents of an array with the whitespace included on them.
Eg. "NewYork" instead of "New York"...

I'm working with SWFAddress and I have a split function but its also adding empty elements to my array which I want to remove or stop been entered in the array.
Code:
var str : String = '/home/'
var split = str.split("/");
trace("split = "+split.length);
tracer.text = split;

As you can see the split is coming back with 2 empty elements in the array.The string value could change depending on what the user enters into the url for deeplinking. It could be var str : String = 'home' and this returns the correct value but if the add a slash I need to make sure that is not registered in my array as an empty value. how I could stop these empty elements from showing in the array?

Basically, there are 24 movieclips with 2 states, empty and full. Their instance names are from space0 to space23. When each movieclip are in the first state, empty what I am "planning" on doing is setting a specific variable for that movieclip called var space0empty:Boolean = true; and when it is in the second state make it false. I would have to make 24 variable for each movieclip. Is there a simpler way to do this with Arrays, also, could you please explain any code given on arrays or at least tell me how to use arrays as the equilivant for what I said with variables.

Is there a simple way to check if an associative array has anything in it whatsoever? Not looking for a specific key/value, but rather if there's *anything* in it, similar to checking if a normal array is empty by checking it's 'length'.

I have been working with htmlText and everything is loading and appears fine with one minor exception. For some reason there is no space between paragraphs defined by the <p> tag. There will be a line break, but not the extra space between the paragraphs.

I am making a space invader game as a uni project. Please seee attched file.I am getting an error:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at MethodInfo-19()It only happens sometimes when an invader is removed in the moveBullet method I think but basically the game behaves incorrectly and sometimes goes to the You Win frame even if the user has lost or just lost a life.

I'm using Flash CS4 and AS3 and trying to get this cube to look as though it's actually in 3D space. [URL]. I know that because it's really two dimensional I'm dealing with the panels being on set layers and I need them to dynamically figure out what panel should be brought to the front. I don't really even know how to tackle this... Is there code I can use to get it to constantly check what should be on top? How would it even test this?

I'm trying to get used to the new way of doing things in CS4. Once I've created a MC and rotated it in 3D, how can I move it across the screen w/o rotating it further? I have a MC that rotates over several frames, and once it reaches the last one, I want it to stop rotating, then begin to slide in an X direction (while reducing the alpha). But no matter which tool I use or what I do on the timeline, the object is stuck in place and will only rotate and not move. Even the 2D X and Y settings in the properties panel are grayed out.

I have a web design for a client that was pretty much complete. They decided that they wanted to replace one of the graphics with a flash animation. When I added the swf file to the layout in Dreamweaver it apparently is adding some space around the swf which breaks the rest of the design. It looks to be about 4 pixels or so of space that is getting added. I experimented with padding, margins, borders on every element in the design. I tried changing the Scale parameter of the swf to "no border" and "exact fit". I tried enclosing the elements in a table. To simplify things I created a new blank page in Dreamweaver and added the two elements that are giving me grief. The original width of the design was 792.
On the top I had 2 graphics, the first was 212 wide and the second was 580 wide. The first graphic is the one that got replaced with the swf file. The swf is also 212 wide. But for some reason there is that extra space on the right side of the swf that forces the second graphic to the next line. You can see the example here: [URL]. This shows what happens when the original graphic was replaced with the swf. (The swf doesn't do anything as I actually replaced the client's swf with one I made that has the original graphic as the only item in the movie). If you look here: [URL]. I changed the width of the second graphic to 574 wide. That kept the graphic on the same line, but you can clearly see that the swf has the unwanted space to the right.

I am trying to delete some copy but when I do it, it leaves a huge black space (previewed in Firefox and Safari on Mac) which is the space left when I deleted the script and I don't know how to close up the black space (like I would do in indesign or Word). I am doing something wrong but I don't know how to fix this simple thing.
