ActionScript 2.0 :: Empty Movie Clips From Multidimensional Array?
Oct 3, 2006
Does anyone know why I keep getting "undefined" with this code? I'm trying to create some empty clips - each using the name of the "holder" element in the array below:
Code:
var DIR:String = "";
var groupinfo:Array = [{mc:overview, display:"overview", toload:DIR+"overview.jpg",
I am trying to set up a script that will generate a matrix repeating the same symbol X by Y times. For example, b(3,2); should generate...
OOO OOO
...and after many days of being tested by this problem I have narrowed the location of my problem down to what can be seen up in the following.
Code: for (a=0; a<4; a++){ for (b=0; b<4; b++){ var z:Number = ((a*4)+b); _root.attachMovie("Light", ("L" + z), _root.getNextHightestDepth(), {_x:(a*45), _y:(b*45)}); } }
For some reason, that loop will only attach one copy of my "Light" movie. I cannot seem to figure out why more are not added. I am putting that code on the first frame of my movie. There is nothing else in my project yet.
I've been trying to reproduce an animation effect I've seen on the Armani website, but I'm stuck trying to duplicate an empty movie clip with image loaded into it. The duplicates exist and I can move them, but they are invisible. Since the duplicates reside on depths above the intitial clip I'm confused about why they are invisible. The duplicates are scripted to follow behind the initial clip - each offset by 30 pixels (though I don't have that working perfectly).
I have a project in which I am using classes.I want to use a class in where from a xml object I create an array of movie clips using createEmptyMovieClip.[code]
Ok so basically I have a button that will create a empty movie clip and attach some things into that clip When the button is first clicked. My problem is that when the button is clicked a second time. The clip will reload itself and I need it to duplicate. So if I hit the button 5 times, there would be 5 items on the stage.Here is what I'm doing.
Code: hold1.onPress = function(){ trace("your hit me");
I am in the process of building my new website and am having some loading issues. Here is a bit of info. gallery_stage This is the main movie that I am loading everything into. This movie is places in the center of an html page in the portfolio section of my site. gallery_menu.swf this is the navigation menu that I am loading onto the 'stage'. Currently it loads insode of a container 'menuload'. This is the code that I'm using to load it.
I'm still having some problems with loading an .swf into multiple empty movie clips. The AS that I'm using loads all the clips into empty movie clips at different depths on _level0. When I run the main .swf everything starts fine but when I rollover or rollout of any of the loaded clips it only effects the first MC loaded.
I have an empty movie where I load some content (images), but i need the reference to be on bottom right of the content, while flash load the content with reference point at top left. I think that it is possible to change reference point with as2. Working with as2 and flash player ver. 9 on flash cs3.
I tried it and it just doesnt work, it creates the first one but the other five dont work and createTextField wont work after the first createmovieclip.
I'm working on an isometric-view prototype game, and I thought a good way to do the collision detection would be to put four empty movie clips on each of the character's base corners (it's a cube), convert those corner's _x and _y to the Stage, and go from there. Problem is, how to get it to work.My character is on the stage in an otherwise empty "clip" MovieClip. Here's what I have inside my character:
Code: onClipEvent(enterFrame){ var point:Object = new Object(); point.rightX = right._x;[code]....
Whenever I trace any of these, it always traces the local coordinates. Otherwise, everything is fine.
I am building a project that loads 30 images in to empty movie clips. I want one of the images to apear on top randomly. What is happening now is that the first swf in my loop always shows up on top.Here is a link to waht i am doing:Here is some code i am working with:
Code: // Random range function randRange(min:Number, max:Number):Number {
Is it possible to create a completely dynamic menu by creating empty movie clips and loading external images into them? I'm experimenting with this, but it seems there is no way to create rollover/release functions for these dynamically created MC's.
I have a list of 99 item (something like a phone book) and I will like to sort them in different method. Part of the 99 item might be empty, so the requirement is to move the empty field behind the sorted data in every sorting behavior, here the code we have so far:
they can have any names, this is just an example. so..and in my actionscript panel, i have the code:
the var bit... myxml.ignorewhite = true; max = 40
[code]....
following this code, still in the for loop, i tried to create an empty movie clip, which loads a secondary swf, called "button.swf". as follows
this.createEmptyMovieClip("myMC",i) // "i" being the depth myMC._x = 40; myMC._y = max;
[code]....
so...when i run the movie, it all appears blank. just for your information, if i take the whole ''movie clip creation'' bit out of the whole loop, it works fine. just once, but fine you got the idea what i'm trying to do here.. it's a list of buttons... because i don't want to use the list component. anyway, continuing. i don't know how to make it work. i've been guessing the problems might be with the same instance myMC bit, and i don't know how to create a different one each time(i've been trying though ) or with the depth..which still i can't figure it out.
i am making a sidescroller and i'm working on the collision and the way my teacher suggested was to give all the movie clips an instance name (which i did), but i'm not too sure on how to put them into an array for collision detection
the movie clips are within a movie clip simply named levelOne (and lvlOne_mc for as) which is exported for action script. the pieces within are well named and have an instance name (for example the first platform instance name is Pf01) but i don't know how to set up the array so i can set up collision detection between the character and the objects
I am working on an interactive quiz type game using arrays and multidimensional arrays.
I am trying to make a dynamic textfield say "the current question" + "Sorry, the correct answer is..." + "the second answer in the first string of answers in the array".
I think I am pretty close, but there is an error in the syntax.
Here is the line of code where I try to do this:
questionHolder.question.text=(String (cat4Questions[0]) + "Sorry, the correct answer is "+ String (cat4Answers[0,2]));
I am getting this error:
VerifyError: Error #1030: Stack depth is unbalanced. 1 != 0.
I'm trying to make my portfolio XML-driven. What I'm trying to do is similiar to a photogallery. The difference is that I want "sub pictures" to every item in the gallery. Example: If I click on a project name in the portfolio an image should appear. Then I want to be able to browse between different images within that project. When I click on a another project a different set of pictures will be loaded.My XML file looks as exemplified below. What I'm having troubles figuring out how to do is getting the array right.I want to access the data something like this:
imageArray[0].path[1] would return "http://www.pic.com/picA1.jpg" imageArray[0].title returns "Title A"
I fail to parse the XML into an multidimensional array like this..
<images><item title="Title A"><pic path="http://www.pic.com/picA1.jpg"> <desc>First A picture</desc> </pic>[code].....
ive got these clips on stage and add event listeners in an array :
[Code].....
but i want to have nothing on stage and attach the same clip from the library a certain amount of times and have them put themselves into the array, is this possible?
its possible to have an array of movie clips? what i've been trying to do is to make a variable equal a random number between 0 and 10 and that variable is put in as the array number and it then loads that 1 movie clip chosen randomly from the array of movie clips.
I put all my Movie Clips on an array and I can't access it very good
[Code]...
It removes the last movie clip and other actions that I applied to those mvoie clip the last movie clip is always selected.Of course j is initialized with array.lenght How can I access it in a different way?}
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// first off, for those who don't know, a normal array is a set of data contained in a variable, created like so: var myArr:Array = new Array("data1","data2","data3");
[code]...
(because it starts counting from 0, not one) A multidimensional array is just an array of arrays.created like so:
var myArr:Array = new Array(new Array(1,2,3),new Array(4,5,6));
and called like so:
myArr[0][1] which gives: 2 \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I have a set of 24 movieclips, which I'd like put into a multidimensional array containing 8 arrays, each containing 3 movieclips.
Code: Select allfunction addArrayDimensions() {//takes the clips array on root, and makes it an 8x3 multidimensional for (i=0; i<_root.clips.length/3; i++) {//while i<8... //assign the first three items of clips[] to a new array, and put it at the end of clips[]
[code]...
Right now, it's taking the clips array (which we'll pretend contains this data: [1,2,3,4,5,6.....])and then runs through the function, and then returns it exactly as it was before. (1,2,3,4,5,6....)How can I take an array, and make it into a multidimensional array?
In the following code, the on1,on2,on3,on4,on5 are instance names given to 5 buttons. all five of the buttons ARE SUCCESFULLY responding to the Press1 function below.
Code: var ONarray:Array=new Array("on1","on2","on3","on4","on5"); for (var i:uint; i < ONarray.length; i++) { var ON:MovieClip=getChildByName(ONarray[i]) as MovieClip;
I have a movie the attaches movie clip linkages to an array with buttons, the idea is to attach the clip to the stage and when you attach another clip ,the one one the stage moves down in the y position 25 px to allow the next movie to go in its space.I cant seem to get the movie to drop down and all the clips stay at the same y coordinate.I have tried using a variable to update the y value also to hard code the y value nothing seems to work below
var warnArray = [""]; mybtn.onRelease = function() { warnArray.unshift("movie1");
I've got an array with four movie clips that I would like to move onto the screen separately (the first one, then the second, etc). Is there a way to do that?
This is the code I have to move the whole array onto the screen:
arrCSnav:Array = [cs1_Button, cs2_Button, cs3_Button, cs4_Button] for(i=0;i<arrCSnav.length;i++) { var enterTween:Tween = new GCSafeTween(arrCSnav[i], "x", Strong.easeOut, arrCSnav[i].x,arrCSnav[i].x+180,12,false); }
i stored 8 mc's in an array an i put them on the stage. now I want to apply to these mc's a blur effect. My problem is that i don't know how to apply for every mc the blur effect by clicking on it. So for example I have all the mc's on the stage and if I click on one of them the clicked one should have the blur effect and so on. How to apply the filter to the mc's?
in my program the user can create multible movie clips so i stored them in an array. now the problem is i need to find the ._x of all of them. so i have tried to create a for loop that will go through at a certain amount of times (pending on the number of created movie clips)
