i have this javascript tracking-code I need to place in our flash-banner in order for our third-party tracking company to track clicks and that sort of stuff, but I'm not sure how I need to place it in our flash-banner. I thought I coudl simply place this javascript into a top layer or the like, but seems I cannot directly include it like that inside Flash. Then I thought perhhaps I could simply save the javascript file as .js file and call it from within the Flash file, but not sure how to go about it...

As the site will be totally in flash, there is no use of JavaScript required. So, what is the best way to embed a SWF file into a web page without using JavaScript. And why do you consider it to be the best one?

View 5 RepliesIs there any way to embed Flash completely in HTML, without reference to an external SWF file? I ask because I would like to send an HTML file as an email attachment that the recipient will open in a browser and fill out as a form. The last step is that they will copy the result to their clipboard, paste it into a new message, and email it back. I cannot reliably copy to the clipboard with JavaScript because of the security issues, but there are simple Flash apps to add that capability.
I know I could just display the response text (which will be Base64 encoded) to the recipient and have them copy/paste, but it would be nice to provide this small convenience to them. Also, so you are aware, the text is often too large to include in an email using mailto. Yes. This needs to be done via email. The users have slow, occasional satellite email access and no other data connection to the interwebs. To make things worse, I cannot make them install anything. It is a difficult situation.
i have to embed my flash file in my html using satay code since my html has to be xhtml compliant. my problem is when i try to embed 2 different movies on the same page, the first movie loads in both containers. does anyone know how to fix this or if there is another xhtml compliant way to embedding flash?
View 3 RepliesThere are cases where shipping javascript code with your flash video is not an option. One of these cases is when you've bought space on a website to place your ad banner. In those cases I want to use the 1x1 pixel image tracking method on Google Analytics or Yahoo Web Analytics to track the amount of views on my banner.I have heard that flash blocks any attempt to load data from a third party host (frankly I don't see why they would do that) which presents a problem. I would love a solution.I can picture several methods and their downsides.I could host the banner on my own server, counting the downloads. Unfortunately this would prove to be a tremendous load on my server when possibly millions of downloads would happen per day.
I could write a PHP script, hosting it on my own server, that when requested tracks a page view in GA or YWA. I could place a crossdomain.xml file on my server allowing the flash banner to request my script using a Loader. Unfortunately, the problem of server load still exists as my private server probably can't handle millions of requests per day.Possible solutions are other tracking hosts that allow for flash cross domain file requests, or perhaps a method I haven't thought of.The challenge here is to be able to track the number of views on a flash video without using any javascript. The problem is the sheer amount of load this would put on my own servers if I were to track using my server as a proxy. The best solution would be a tracking service using crossdomain.xml
Tracking software requires that you insert their code into the page you want to track (I'm using StatCounter). I installed a Flash website template and it just has one .html file where I can insert the code. That tracks visits to the first page with no problem but if a visitor clicks on different pages of the site, it doesn't get tracked. Does anyone know how and where to add code so that each page of the Flash site can be tracked?
Note, in my template a part of each page is found in different symbols. For example, the first column of every page is located in a symbol called PAGES1 and the second column of every page is located in a symbol called PAGES2, and the third column located in PAGES3. Different layers within each symbol correspond to the different pages. So I'm at a loss of how I could get this tracking code to be able to track each page visit, since each page shares a symbol with another page.

Is there any way I can embed HTML in flash? I know I can do this with text boxes but is there any other way I can do it? If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

What's the correct way to track mouse position, from Adobe Flash, when someone has: Started a drag within the Flash application (a MOUSE_DOWN event), Dragged the mouse outside the app or even the browser window (a MOUSE_MOVE event), and Released the mouse button (a MOUSE_UP event)? For example (imagine Stack Overflow is a Flash application):
Within the app, I'm able to track the mouse X and Y positions with a MOUSE_MOVE event listener, but I lose it when it goes outside of the browser... So, how do I track the position of the mouse no matter where it goes? For a good example, try Google Finance. Try dragging the chart around; it'll still drag around if you move your mouse out of the browser window, and the mouse will be outside of the browser when you release it.
Also, check out KOKO KAKA; If you click on the scrollbar (make the browser window really small) and move outside of the browser window, the scroll bar moves just like a real one would. I believe both only work because the MOUSE_DOWN event "captures" the mouse, allowing the Flash application to track the position of the mouse even when it is outside of the browser.
I'd like to know how to use the JavaScript onChange event on <input type="file"... so that when a user selected files, onChange will call Flash to return the file's size and decide what to do next.2nd. How to use JavaScript to exclude this check, if the browser doesn't have Flash.

I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded. I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right. Having read the following documentation [URL] I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time. However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step! The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.

I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.

View 2 RepliesWith all the recent hype about JavaScript and HTML5 replacing Flash, I wanted to know - How would it be possible to protect client-side js code? Of course, it is possible to obfuscate it, but that would only make it a little harder. Also, for games which submit high scores to the server, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to modify those scores before they are sent to the server? I know even Flash files can be decompiled, but they can be obfuscated and flash decompilation is not as easy as modifying data in JS - could be done easily using a plugin such as Firebug. I'd like to know everyone's views on this.

I have an image of type '.bmp' (NOT jpeg or png). I am trying to embed it using the following code.

On compiling, the code throws following error.
'door0091.bmp' does not have a recognized extension, and a mimeType was not provided Unable to transcode door0091.bmp.
To overcome that I tried to give a 'mimeType' which is giving a type coercion error during runtime:

I've been using Flash for a few years now and I've recently (5 months+) started using CS5 package.My query is how do I successfully embed accented latin characters into a "classic" dynamic text field in my compiled Flash movie that are called from an external text file. I've searched the various forums online and all the methods demonstrated have not worked.
What I've done so far is to to select my dynamic text field, click on "Embed" within the PROPERTIES area, choose the font and the weight, then add any of the foreign characters and/or glyphs to the "Also include these characters:" area then finish up and compile. When I run my SWF file, the glyphs and accented fonts are missing but all the other typical Latin characters show up.
I tried this same method in CS4 (because we have an old Mac in the office too), and almost the same thing happened except instead of completely missing out the glyphs and fonts, it showed a box (almost like an image placeholder) instead.
Is it possible to somehow tell what scripts/intervals/onEnterFrames are still running in a flash file while viewing the .swf? I seem to be having some possible RAM issues with the .swf and just curious if there is a way to track this.
View 9 RepliesI have a single page site that has a flash interface and a html nav bar that changes content on the site without a page reload. The problem is the client wants to see the click paths users are going though to access content ( using html nav bar or flash ui to get there ). I know I can use the externalInterface in flash to callback to javascript on click events but there seems to be no custom way to trigger building a click path.
Basically on a page that doesn't have per-page content I want to track the path users are navigating the site ( not per-click tracking but full on path tracking ) through. Is this possible through custom events of some sort or just not possible?

when i test, the flash loaded. The code goes through everything and show "SENT" in the flash text box.
