I know the way to add flv file by creating FLVPlayback component. But in this case we always need to depend on the source path of corresponding file. View 1 RepliesI can use flash ok to build stuff, but I usually just build a flash presentation with movieclips and buttons all contained in the one file. I have never had to put my creations onto cd-rom before. So now I am looking at a CD-rom and seeing how someone else has done it and I see that all the .swf files are separated, as will as sound and video. I thought the only reason to do this would be to be able to access and change for example and mp3. without having to open the flash file, but I am thinking there are other reasons?

The contents of myText.txt are <a href=(not sure what to put here)> Product 1 </a> But all that does is put it in the text output section in flash.It does not show it in flash. I need help getting it to show up in a text box.That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
Is there a way when using Actionscript 3 to embed the video player skin into my document so that when I publish it, everything I need to launch the file onto a website is in one swf? When I publish it as it is now, 2 swfs appear, one for my file and one for the video player skin. Can I embed the video player skin so this doesn't happen and I only have to upload the one swf to my website?

View 3 RepliesI thought it was a problem with my Try / Catch statement, but in reality my issue is really just trying to do a check in an If / Else statement to see if my Flash player can obtain any data from a flashVar. If flashVar VID = great, Else read from an XML file.Basically this is what I need to have happen:
Check to see if there are flashVar values
If so then load the other Class files and DO NOT get the XML file
If not then run the code in the Catch statement and load the XML file

We're currently developing a small Flash application to display our company's capabilties. This application will be stored on a small USB thumb drive that we give to our potential clients. When the thumb drive is accessed, users will see two folders "Media" and "Other"; and an SWF file entitled "Start." There is; however, one more file that displays: the interface/skin file that we used for our FLV videos (entitled "SkinUnderPlaySeekStop.swf"). If this file is not included in the same location as the main SWF file, the interface/skin will not display on the video.
We would like only the two folders and the main SWF file to be displayed on the root of the thumb drive. Is there anyway to move the interface/skin file into another folder (for example, the "Other" folder) and call it up from that location within the original FLA file?

I am trying to embed a facebook video on my website but it gives "Video Unavailable. this video has either has been removed from facebook or is not visible".video is public to everyone, is not deleted and I can watch it on facebook via other browsers that I am not logged in. I tried both below embed codes, neither is worked.

I imported a .mov file into a .swf file and it works great. Then I embedded the .swf file into a web page. Again, it seemed to work fine--at least works fine when I open it in a browser locally. However, after I upload everything to the server, the .swf file seems to be okay, but the embedded video no longer works. I triple checked that all of the links are correct, all of the files are uploaded (including the embedded video) but nothing works.

I have two mc's on the stage, the first one is called missiles and the second one is called boxes. So accordingly I put boxes in the boxes mc and missiles in the missiles mc. My problem is how to detect whether any of the missiles collide with boxes and make damage to the box.
I am using simple and effective algorithm which works but it is very slow when there are many missiles and boxes on stage. I am using two nested "for" cycles which is a bad practice, but I don't have other idea at the moment.

I'm looking into implementing the flash player detection kit onto our website. I found a good resource about this but had a question: [URL]. It looks like the flash player detection kit is focused on flash player 8. Are there any differences as to how to handle this situation for flash player 9 or 10, or will the kit work for all? Please note that I am not a flash developer, but am doing research to advise our IT folks as to how we should go about setting up proper flash detection on our site.
View 1 RepliesWe run surf camera streams on our website, which are played via the latest version (5.4) of JWPlayer on our pages. Recently we switched over to another streaming service, and H.264 streams, as we are planning on streaming out to iOS devices in the very near future, however this introduced a bug on the client side where users to not receive vision (they only see a black screen where the video is normally seen).
We have discovered that disabling the Hardware Acceleration (which was introduced in Flash Player 10.1+) fixes this issue, and given the spectrum of environments where this issues is happening I would wager that this is related to specific graphics cards, their drivers, and how they handle the vision decoding etc.
The documentation we have found relating to disabling Hardware Acceleration only indicate that this can be done via the wmode param, i.e. by setting it to wmode="opaque" or wmode="transparent" however this doesn't seem to work in all cases (for the most part the issue is no longer there) however we are still seeing 30% of our users getting this issue.
We can ask the users to disable hardware acceleration themselves, and we have provided details on how to do this, however to me that is only a temporary fix, and I was curious as to whether or not there was something more permanent we can put in until Adobe fix up this issue?
Some of my flash buttons do not work in FlashPlayer 10 but work in 10.1 So I wanted to alert a user to upgrade to the most current flash player 10.1 if he/she has 10 and visits my website. What is the best way to do it? My entire site is done in Flash and I am using AS3.
