ActionScript 3.0 :: Changes To Vector3D From Number3D Breaks Away3D Code?

I'm working with the 3D in Flash book and the code examples are throwing errors because of changes to the Away3D library. Away3D changed their Number3D to the native Flash Vector3D, which has caused the following errors in my code:

I'm attaching the fla file for view and playing pleasure, I seem to be running into an issue where I have a myriad of KEY_UP and KEY_DOWN events that work beautifully the first time through the swf. When I hit either of the "Play again?" buttons, which are coded back to the first frame with a gotoAndPlay(1) function, the swf plays again but all the keyboard events don't work. The third time through the if/else function that decides whether or not your little spaceship crashes or not doesn't work.

I found a reference to CS3 Flash's auto format breaking AS3 code on kirupa back in May 2007 but was surprised to find out that it still breaks code by removing parenthesis.Beforetruescale=Math.pow(8,(1 - i) * scaleit);Aftertruescale=Math.pow(8,1 - i * scaleit);Obviously the results are devastating. Would someone check to see if CS4 Flash's auto format still causes the same error when editing .as file? Might be worth the price of an upgrade if it does NOT mess up the format.

I've created a game in Flash and I'm using Matrix3D and Vector3D. It works perfectly locally, but as soon as I put it on a server, the graphics don't render and I only see a thin line where a sphere should be.

I've done all the imports, but nothing seems to get it working!

I always thought this (mixed arrays) was possible, but now as I want to use it it won't work. I'm trying to create an array consisiting of 4 Vector3D objects and a Number. Yet Flash won't let me create such an array like:

Am I missing something here with the creation of the Array or is it just not possible and will I have to use an "Object" instead. Of course I could also just store my Number in the .x a fifth Vector3D-Object but this doesn't seem very practical to me.

I am building a website which loads some collada objects for each area. But I couldn't manage to clean the memory. It seems impossible to kill the objects.

I've found some samples implementing destroy() methods for away3d internal classes, but they're not working as well.

Flash :: How To Get The Top Level Child In Away3D

i have a small question concerning away3D. I have some cubes with the exact same dimensions that are positioned in the same place. When i click on the stack of cubes, i want to register a click on the cube i added last. Instead of doing this, the click is registered on the cube i added first.

I have found a way to alter the cubes position in the container and have tried putting the element at the end (code below) and start of the childrenArray, but nothing seems to work. I am kinda really stuck here, so if anyone knows how to get the top level element when clicking on the stack, i'd be happy to hear.

[URL]..why it's impossible to me to center the pivot of this container? if I do container3D.centerPivot() all my cubes are moved from they're position and still the pivot it's not in the center, but at the center of just ONE cube (the last on the bottom-right corner). Flex - VideoMaterial Appears Pixellated In Away3D?

I'm working on a spherical movie viewer in Away3D & am having a problem when I apply a VideoMaterial texture to a 3D primitive. The video appears heavily pixellated, like it's being scaled or hugely compressed. When I apply a BitmapMaterial of a single still image from the video it appears fine, so I don't think the resolution of the video is the problem.

I found [this discussion][1] suggesting a solution by specifying the "fixedHeight" & "fixedWidth" when I call the constructor, but those arguements seem to have no effect, and I can't find them in the API either. I do see something called "lockH" & "lockW," [in the API][3], but I they don't seem to have any effect either.

I want to attach spheres to rotating sphere but I've encountered some rotation problems:

In application u can rotate mainSphere in both x and y axiss'.

If I rotate main sphere in only x axiss or only y axiss, it works correctly. But if I rotate main sphere around both x and y axiss, sphere is attacing the wrong place.

I have a question regarding my implementation of a collada 3d file. This is really my first venture into the realm of 3d and I've read some of the basic tutorials so I'm not 100% clueless, but I am a bit confused by what is appearing with the following class (this is a document root class, loaded by the .fla file): the images I loaded to skin the board with are showing up, but just in specific triangles. I want it to skin across the whole board. Is [code]there something special I need to do to achieve this?Also, my final goal with this project is to skin (texture map) one side of the board with a bitmap (drawn from an MC) and the other side with a different bitmap.

I've been trying to test out Away3D engine on Flash CS5.5, and I've been getting lots of errors. I have downloaded playerglobal.swc and placed it, edited player xml file and configured it for flash to use FP11. In Flash, I have chosen Flash player 11 to be used. But when I try to create a new View3D object:

How do I update my Elevation Object when I change the bimapdata of its height map? I noticed that getHeightAtPosition() updates to the values of the new bitmap, but the Elevation still looks the same..

(I know it is possible to loop through all vertices in the geometry mesh and adjust them based on the bitmap, but the nice thing with Elevation is that you don't have to do that. If it can adjust to the bitmap on creation it should be able to update..)

I have a Plane and I try tweening a MovieClipSprite on it. I run into trouble when I try to tween near the points where both segment triangles meet (I have kept both segments as 1), While moving near these points the Sprite disappears. I can tell it goes beneath the Plane because when it reappears it does so gradually and I can see it's lower half appearing as it moves away from these points. Increasing the segments obviously deteriorates the performance further as this begins to happen at other points as well. The problem relates from trying to create BitmapMaterials from scaled bitmap images. Away3D is being used, but I guess the principles at work are general. The source images are of different sizes and scales. The idea is to map the images onto a 400*300 mesh, adding empty space to the sides of the image when the scales differ - so, for example, an overwide image would be scaled down to have a width of 400, with blank space being used to fill gaps at the top and bottom of the image. An initial function creates a mesh, and adds two faces using the material. This works perfectly. However, a near identical function is used to remove the faces and replace them with new faces using a different image, and this produces an incorrect scale - the faces end up displaying the zoomed center of the source image.
