In ActionScript 3.0, there are a few ways to check a class's extension. For example, if I want to know of a custom class extends Sprite I could use the is operator:
trace(MyClass is Sprite);
Or I could use flash.utils.getQualifiedSuperclassName:
trace(getQualifiedSuperclassName(MyClass));
I would like to accept a class as an argument and check to see if the passed class implements an certain interface. Is there an equally simple or common way to check if my custom class adheres to an interface? Perhaps something like:
trace(MyClass implements IMyInterface);
Is it possible?

View 2 Repliesi'm trying to check if a movieclip has an event listener with a sepecific function bound to it. The hasEventListener function only accepts one parameter (the listener). What i would need would be an hasEventListener that accepts a second parameter, namely the function that is bound to it.

How can I check if the stage contains a movieclip on a specific x and y location on the stage?I'm building a colour-guessing game. The purpose is to walk a path through a generated field of hexagons, each assigned a random colour (yellow, red, blue or green), based on what soundfile you hear. So if you hear "yellow", you have to click a yellow tile etc.But because I want it to be a path, and the colours of the tiles are randomly generated, I have to check which colours border the currently active tile. I literally have no idea how to do this. I thought this might work but it doesnt:

See [URL] Now there is a button called Answera, which when clicked should have a symbol (movie clip) called Check appear at the cordinated specified. Check exists in the libary (but does not have an instance name) and no where else on the stage. when I run this code I get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Check. -> var rightCheck = new Check(); How is it undefinded if it exists in the libary?
View 7 RepliesThe following is my codes. This is still work in progress; so, you will see some functions with empty contents. Plus, this is my first Flex application; please bear with me. This is a quiz application that gets the questions and answers to each questions from a ColdFusion web service. There are three types of questions, True or False, Multiple Choice with single selection, and Multiple Choice with multiple selections. So, based upon the question type, the application would dynamically generate the appropriate amount of radio buttons or check boxes for the users to select. I got these working. The problem that I am having is, I am not sure how to check what the users have actually selected. In some other forums and posts on other web site, it said that I can use event.currentTarget.selectedValue to get the user selection. But when I actually do it, I got a run-time error saying, "Property selectedValue not found on mx.controls.FormItem and there is no default value." My question is, what do I need to do to capture the user selections?

What I want is a hint how to make a specific thing happen while clicking a specific button. Like "if I click button 1, do this". Would like to use this script though I'm gonna add buttons over time and this is an easy way to have the functionality working.

i need to change the colour of a graphic in a specific movie in a specific frame. if i have a movie clip instance-named "sidetext" thats 15 frames long, and i want a graphic in the movie, called "letterp" to change to one of four colours that i want it to randomly at frame 10 and stay that colour uintil frame 15, how can i do this?

I have a sliding menu, and need to loadMovies when specific clips are in specific positions. For gallery, for example, the code I'm using is:

But with that code, gallery.swf loads by itself, regardless of the position of SLI.

Basically once my animation loads I want to pull in an external SWF at a specific frame, basically like the "home page" swf that will display first. Underneath that I will have "About Us, Contact, etc..." and those will each load an external SWF into my movie clip. My movieclip right now is called mcHolder. I currently have a flash file and a php file. The flash file sends a byte array to the php file and the php file creates a .jpeg from it.
I'm now looking for a way for the php file to tell the flash file that it's done creating the .jpeg so the flash file can do something else.[code]...
OK so I have an .FLV playing in a div container. After and only after the viewer watches the complete .FLV I want a feedback form to come up. Now, should I use flash for this or html? What actionscript would I use for this ? Event.complete if thats even a valid command.
