ActionScript 3.0 :: Checking If An External Swf Is There Then Removing

Feb 12, 2009

I have checked the forums for a solution but I cant seem to find anything that works quite like I need it to. Or maybe I just don't understand?

Code:

function BiographyExternal():void
{
var PageBios:URLRequest = new URLRequest("Biographies.swf");

[Code]....

This works when I want to add a movie clip, but what if I want to try and remove it? I need to check if it exists first right?

Basically in another function I want to check if this file is loaded and if it is, I want to remove it.

The reason I am trying to check to see if a movieclip is on stage or not is to remove it when someone clicks another section of the navigation. say they click work_mc, then they click a button in work_mc, this launches workss_mc. I want to check on the navigation is workss_mc is on the stage or not, if so remove it. This is what I have so far but it doesn't seem to be working..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Checking And Removing Clip (inside Parent Clip)

Apr 14, 2010

I'm having problems with something somewhat simple. We're going to a trade show and needed a video that would randomly load a SWF clip on one scene, then I have the timeline move to another after a delay and then go to the next part to load an image, then I have it restart and do it again, for a never-ending looping video at our booth.

I'm running into an issue though, when it loops and plays the SWF for the 2nd time, the old content still remains and the new content plays over the previous one. I figured the issue was I needed to remove the previous clip before loading a new one. I found some code that I thought SHOULD work but can't seem to get it right.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Checking For External File?

Apr 10, 2009

I want to use an external actionscript file for a set of variables for a movie I'm working on.

However, as I cannot guarantee that the external file would be available (it's for our sales reps to use on their own laptops) is there a way of testing for the #included file?

My idea is that the integrated script looks for the external file: if it finds that file, it is used. If the external file is unavailable, the internal script defaults to its own variables.

What I'm attempting is to load content for a portfolio into the main swf. However, if the "home" content is already loaded and the "home" button is clicked, I don't want it to reload.

By the way, I'm using AS 2.0

Also, is there an easy way to split the scenes in a .fla into separate .fla's?

var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("section1.swf"); [code]......

Do I add this to button click events? for every section? and a remove method for the other sections that are not in use? or is there a better way to setup this more reusable and checking correctly if a swf is loaded or not?

I want my main timeline to be able to tell where my loaded movie is, and when the loaded mc (myclip.swf) reaches frame 20, i want my main timeline to do another action (like, start playing a sound). How do I accomplish that? How do I check what is the current frame of the external mc?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing External Swf ?

Feb 18, 2009

i have a main .fla file which i shall call projectthing.fla for example purposes, and on one of the frames in projectthing.fla i an nesting a movie clip called "childgalleryholder" which currently resides in my library. within this "mychildgalleryholder" i am... importing?... an external .swf which is located in the same folder as my main projectthing.fla . The .swf that i speak of is called stack_gallery.swf and essentially the same file that im using can be found here. Now then, to pull said .swf into the holder movieclip i mention above i am using this code:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.display.Loader;[code]....

Now then, this all works fine (well good enough anyway), BUT when it comes to changing frames, no matter what frame i switch to, the holder mc DOES NOT go away, or at least i assume its the holder mc the point is that the imported .swf stays on the screen and renders my project unusable until i close it then reload it and avoid that frame.So i decided to set up a button which uses this code to remove the holder from the stage:

ActionScript Code:
removePhotoSlideShow.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onClickremovePhotoSlideShow);
function onClickremovePhotoSlideShow(evt:MouseEvent):void{
    removeChild(mychildgalleryholder);[code]....

It works fine and the thing goes away, BUT it leaves the photos in place for no apparent reason.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing An External .SWF?

Feb 19, 2009

I have a extremely simple page that I am making... [URL] Upon going to the site you should get the same error that every one gets which is what is bugging me..

ActionScript Code:
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
at mainbodyflash_fla::MainTimeline/frame2()

Basically, the "Gallery" section has an external SWF being loaded into it. I call it in by putting the following code onto Frame 1 of my actions layer...

ActionScript Code:
var myrequest:URLRequest=new
URLRequest("viewer.swf");
var myloader:Loader=new Loader ();
myloader.load(myrequest);

And I display it in the actually "Galley" stage by using this code on the content layer in the "gallery" frame...

ActionScript Code:
stage.addChild(myloader);

If I just leave it like this it loads fine and I don't get any errors.....but if you click on any of the other tabs the external swf overlaps what is in those parts.... so I tried to just use this code in those frames....

ActionScript Code:
stage.removeChild(myloader);

And it does make it so that it doesn't overlap anymore...but thats when I get that error mentioned above.... so basically I want to know how to remove the external SWF when going to another frame without it overlapping or giving me this error....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding/removing External SWF?

May 20, 2008

I have a list of buttons that each load an external SWF when pressed. When a button is pressed, the SWF loads into a movieclip on the main timeline, and the list dissappears (so only one is loaded at a time). The main timeline moves to a frame with a back button. When the back button is pressed, I'm trying to remove the loaded SWF and make the menu visible again to load another SWF.This all works, but when I get back to the menu and try to load a new SWF, I get the error:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at CrystalBall/PL_LOADING()rystalBall being the first SWF I tried to load. The error fires like, four or five times too. I know it has something to do with the code trying to remove the loader before it loads it again, but I'm not sure how to fix it

Code:

import flash.display.*;

CS3 - Key Checking Function Not Working?

Sep 8, 2009

I must admit I have struggled with this thing for a bit. It seems simple but for whatever reason I can't get it to work. I just want to make something move in AS 3 right now, and so far I've tried puzzling together two different tutorials, but both of them are missing either some source files or further explanation.

Anyway, here is the code (The bit I am having problems with)

Code:
//event listener checks for key presses
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, checkkey);
//Create keyHandler function

[Code].....

The problem is the checkkey function in the update function. If I leave the parenthesis empty it tells me it needs an argument, if I leave it like that it tells me I need a right paren before colon.

Basically it should check whther the variable has any of the above words loaded on it dynamically so that it loads a movie that corresponds to it. I put the trace on the above so I can track whther it was reading or not. Obviously it wasnt. My publish settings are Flash Player 8 with Actionscript 2.0

Variable Checking Isn't Working?

Jul 14, 2009

Google is ranking my site preety high BUT (bigBut) in MOST searches it lists my swf-s not html pages. So when clicked they are shown in a browser window as single swf-s, not as part of html page. I am trying to workaround this by means of some variable to inspect if swf is opened as standalone or within a html.Here is the problem. I've set up a swf (swf_01 for example) in html page that loads another swf (swf_02) which is in swf_s directory. Swf_01 establishes a variable _global.isActive = 1; when html loads swf_01. So if swf_02 is loaded into the swf_01 variable is TRUE and that is OK and if the swf_02 is loaded directly from search results as a standalone swf it's not OK. That works so far. In swf_02 there is a code that checkes if variable is undefined (meaning that swf is loaded directly from search results) and, if it is, loads the right html into "_self".Somehow it's not working. Maybe my code isn't right.

Code in swf_02 (loaded one):
/if(isActive==undefined){ loadMovie("http://www.mydomain.com/index_services.htm", "_self");} // meaning: if variable is not true > this swf is loaded into browser directly from search

[code]....
