Sep 22, 2010I have a fla file that has a hardcoded variable which is used to validate that a user has permission to run the swf.The variable hold the number of days from the start of the year. If the current date is later - the swf will not play.I need to generate mutliple swfs each with a different day-code (possibly 100s). Apart from editing the .fla and publishing each time,is there any other method of doing this. For example, the code being read form a file and built into to the swf when publishing.

May 19, 2011I am not even sure this is possible but I thought I should ask anyway. So I usually have to create several different template ads that have the exact same content but have different stage width and height. To do this I just have 5 flash files that have the exact same code except different stage size and publish them out.I want to make this process faster (if possible) by having only flash file that when it is published, the code will create the 5 templates at once with the different dimensions. Is there such functionality in AS3 that lets me do that?

Oct 29, 2004I am trying, and have started to create a movie with 3 external swfs, and one nice chunky one to start. I am combining some aftereffects video stuff, so the files are kind of large. What I am doing so far, is setting up a simple preloader (one that I got from here) and then on frame three, embedding the first segment of my movie. Once that first segment plays, and gets to frame 220 or so, I then have a container placed with the loadmovie command, to load the next swf. And then so on, and so on.
It works fine, however, there is a pause when the _root gets to the next frame container to load the movie. The reason being I am sure, is that the movie isn't loading while the initial _root movie segment is playing. Is there a command I can use maybe on frame 3 of the _root, right after the preloader, to trigger the download of the next movies? I would like the preloader to still only load what is on the initial _root timeline, but as i said, have the other swfs loading while that first part is playing....

Jan 28, 2009I'm creating a site that loads external .swfs as pages. I have little understanding of how Loaders and instance names work with AS3 (even after reading the documentation), so I'm having some difficulties.
I'm loading the .swfs in a movie clip named "container." I want to replace the contents of "container" with the web page .swf that the user chooses, but I don't know how to write the condition to:
a) check to see if something is already inside "container"b) remove the contents by instance name or method of MovieClip. I'd prefer to remove whatever is inside of "container" rather than switching cases for different instances.

ActionScript 3.0 :: IDE Published SWFs Won't Play In Release Player?
Nov 23, 2010I'm not sure when this started, but when I publish any movie (fp9 or fp10) in the IDE, my SWFs aren't appearing in my browsers (release player 10,1,102,64) ONLY WHEN I'm viewing the swf/html that are on my web server.I can view the local SWF/html if I open those files locally in the browser? I'm on a Mac and I've deleted all my Flash CS4 preferences.

Jul 6, 2010I have written a basic piece of code to load and unload different swfs, now on their own they're pretty smooth (opened independently) , but when you load and unload them a couple of times in the main fla, just like as a user would navigate through a website, it causes the whole flash player and the movies to slow down quite dramatically and looks very bad as if about to crash. Now i know this problem was reported in FP 9, but anyone else has encountered this in FP 10 as well ?

Im trying to create one similar, but isn't all the way fancy, it just plays the music, I just want it to have a playlist, volume, stop, next track, previous track, and a picture for each song.
i dont really have a clue how do this. So far i created a 1600x1000 skin completely similar to the link above, now i just need to know the right coding for the buttons, and how can keep adding music every 2 weeks. and tommorow (which is in a couple hours), i will have a chance to work with cs4 in a studio.

My my case it's a video player. We've built it to be *very* generalized and flexible so that it can be used by us, but also be licensed to third-parties.
I'm working on a new feature now where content on the page (relating to the current video) gets refreshed via a jQuery AJAX call when a new video in the playlist is cued, so I'll be having the player make an ExternalInterface call to a javascript function in the page in order to let it know when and what to update.
The problem is, how do I generalize such a thing? There are many cases where we *won't* need this functionality, and our clients will likely never need such a thing, either.

Oct 19, 2009I'm trying to create a flv custom player with scrollable playlist, much like youtube's. Anyways, I have a scroll bar with the buttons inside of it. The problem is the buttons that are inside the scroll bar do not want to communicate with the main timeline. So I want to press the button inside the scroll bar and have the selected video play on the main time line. So if the buttons are three movie clips deep into the timeline how do I tell it to play video1 on the main timeline when that button is clicked?

I would like to create a custom flash player for my website to display and control this movie.The player needs the following properties:
1. Play the movie transparently (using "wmode"?)
2. Play, pause, volume and exit buttons on the control bar
3. Autohide control bar
4. Logo / text on the control bar

Flash - Creating Persistent MP3 Player Using SharedObject
Oct 8, 2010I'm trying to create a persistent MP3 player using SharedObject. Initially I tried using frames and while it worked, frames suck so I continued looking into it. I came to find out about Flash's SharedObject. It seems easy enough but I can't nail down the logic correctly. I've attached a sample .fla for anyone interested to look at. I need the song progress to be stored and retrieved when necessary to keep the same song playing whenever links are clicked within the HTML page.

Feb 11, 2011So Im developping a video player that I can reuse in my projects.
The video player contains both .as files and graphical assets (buttons, loading bar, etc). And the graphical assets need to be styled for each project.
Right now the approach Im thinking of is having a base videoplayer.fla, and importing the library items into my new fla, and modifying the graphical assets manually there.
The other option Im thinking of is compiling a swc, but afaik the styling would become more complicated and more limited to colors, fonts, and such.

So each note has a time attached to it, but how can I use these as triggers that fire dynamically in relation to the video's duration?

I have a client who wants multiple players on a page, each playing a different video. The tricky part is that they want to be able to add videos to their website with this custom player on their own, without having to go into the flash file.
Anyone have an idea or where I can find out how to do this? I dont' think XML would work, because it would still have to call a specific node inside flash...and this one swf should be able to work with any .flv they want.
