ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating Multiple .swfs From One Publish?
May 19, 2011
I am not even sure this is possible but I thought I should ask anyway. So I usually have to create several different template ads that have the exact same content but have different stage width and height. To do this I just have 5 flash files that have the exact same code except different stage size and publish them out.I want to make this process faster (if possible) by having only flash file that when it is published, the code will create the 5 templates at once with the different dimensions. Is there such functionality in AS3 that lets me do that?

I have a fla file that has a hardcoded variable which is used to validate that a user has permission to run the swf.The variable hold the number of days from the start of the year. If the current date is later - the swf will not play.I need to generate mutliple swfs each with a different day-code (possibly 100s). Apart from editing the .fla and publishing each time,is there any other method of doing this. For example, the code being read form a file and built into to the swf when publishing.

I am loading multiple .swfs into multiple .swfs, but the .swf are never being properly unloaded. I thought they were unloading until I started monitoring my Page File Usage and seeing it increase everytime I loaded another external swf.
In using this function to load my content, what would be the proper way/function to unload the content?

I've tried publishing CS4 swfs in both Flash 10 and 9, but the pages are acting strange in various browsers. For example:
On PC FF and IE when hitting back button in browser the site disappears.
Sometimes PC site won't load. Says "Done with errors."
In FF, the page is coming up blank.
What is the best way to publish swfs for cross-browser support?

Can you save/publish a .swf from a .swf? For example, I want to make a .swf where the user can move around X's and O's representing players (say basketball) in order to depict a set play. There's a button to create keyframes for the X's and O's to tween between. And then an input text box to name the play. Can the play be saved? Something like this: [URL] Except I want anyone to be able to author plays online from my .swf rather than only me from my copy of Adobe Flash CS3.

I've noticed an issue while creating one way (A publish B play) stream through RTMFP. When I try to create connection between computers behind the same NAT (same IP) stream playing is not fired at all, but on the other hand the same code works on remote computers (different IPs).This issue arose after releasing final release of Flash Player, in a beta release everything works fine.We checked NAT settings and there are no differences for this cases.

I am trying, and have started to create a movie with 3 external swfs, and one nice chunky one to start. I am combining some aftereffects video stuff, so the files are kind of large. What I am doing so far, is setting up a simple preloader (one that I got from here) and then on frame three, embedding the first segment of my movie. Once that first segment plays, and gets to frame 220 or so, I then have a container placed with the loadmovie command, to load the next swf. And then so on, and so on.
It works fine, however, there is a pause when the _root gets to the next frame container to load the movie. The reason being I am sure, is that the movie isn't loading while the initial _root movie segment is playing. Is there a command I can use maybe on frame 3 of the _root, right after the preloader, to trigger the download of the next movies? I would like the preloader to still only load what is on the initial _root timeline, but as i said, have the other swfs loading while that first part is playing....

I can't understand why when I publish my flash app. it creates one html file (name.html) and two swf files (name.swf & name_scene1.swf) with different sizes! I have problems with my app when I upload it to my server, but it works fine locally.

I'm creating a site that loads external .swfs as pages. I have little understanding of how Loaders and instance names work with AS3 (even after reading the documentation), so I'm having some difficulties.
I'm loading the .swfs in a movie clip named "container." I want to replace the contents of "container" with the web page .swf that the user chooses, but I don't know how to write the condition to:
a) check to see if something is already inside "container"b) remove the contents by instance name or method of MovieClip. I'd prefer to remove whatever is inside of "container" rather than switching cases for different instances.

I have to create an app for iOS from an existing Flash project. On the stage of the main flash multiple swfs are loaded dynamically . Is it possible to compile, in addition to the main file, all the other swfs too? If I load the swf in the "Included files on Setting AIR for IOS menu, they are copied as swf, making impossible to use the app on iPad.

Does anyone know of a way (e.g. similar to those of which allows my swf to be divided into multiple swf based on the frames? So if the swf is 10 frames long, there will be 10 SWFs, each one containing a frame.

What I have is a SWF that loads multiple smaller SWFs into an array and then uses buttons to switch between them in a movie clip container on the stage.
Everything works when I pub my main SWF and even when I run it in a browser from my desktop.
When I upload to the server and try to run it online, I run into this problem. All the SWFs load, but only the last one to load actually plays in the container. The others seem to be stuck in frame 1.
The clips have no code in them, they are simple animations. And if I change the load order, still only the last clip plays. So I know it isn't the SWFs causing the problem. I am locked into using IE 8 and the flashplayer is version 10.3.
Anyone know of any issues with IE 8 or a reason that only the last file loaded would play?
here is my code, but as I said it seems to work fine until I run it online.
Code:
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.Event;

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get a number of external SWFs loaded into one main SWF in successive order, the next one playing after the other has ended. To complicate matters, the external SWFs have FLV files in them.
using Flash CS3
Actionscript 3.0
So, here's essentially what I'm looking to do: - I have one main SWF file (call it main.swf)- load several SWF files into this file so they play in order (let's call them movie1.swf, movie2.swf, movie3.swf, and so on) - these external SWF files all have FLV progressive downloads (not embedded, becuase then my audio doesn't sync up) - I want movie1.swf to load and play in the main file, then detect when the movie is complete, and unload that audio/video then load in movie2.swf, and so on.
This script seemed promising, but loads all of my SWFs on top of each other, making for some ::interesting:: audio... (i have it pasted in actions on first frame in main.swf)
var a:Array = new Array("movie1.swf", "movie2.swf", "movie3.swf");var tl:MovieClip=this
var index:uint=0;
loadF(new Event("nada"));
[Code]....
Maybe there's some code that can be pasted in the individual SWFs?

how to load external swf files(9) into my master.swf file one after the other. This is the Actionscript i have written so far.....(AS2)
var myItems:Array = new Array("swf01.swf", "swf02.swf", "swf03.swf", "swf04.swf", "swf05.swf", "swf06.swf", "swf07.swf", "swf08.swf", "swf09.swf");
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var myListener:Object = new Object();[code].......
The first swf loads alright into my master swf but i can't for the life of me work out how to load the rest after each one has finished loading. Don't know if i need a for loop or what?

I have a project that loads SWFs as "slides". I'm running into a problem where I have some very large SWFs that use shared resources within each other. I would prefer not to post my source (because there is a TON of it ...if you've worked with SCORM, you know), but basically, the project is setup to use a "master" SWF to load in children SWFs. Those children SWFs can be quite large due to one specific symbol in the libraries that each share. This symbol is about 5MB in size and is used in several of the "slides". I want to be able to load this symbol into memory and use it across all the slides that need it so the user doesn't have to download tons of 5+MB files.
I am able to create a movieClipLoader object and a container for the object and load the SWF that is just the symbol object I need to share. I am attempting to put it in the _global namespace for use later. When I do this though, the library seems to switch to this new loaded SWF (this shared object) and I cannot access the library objects from the parent slide. So, the slide that is using this shared symbol must load up, start to download the SWF for shared use, then it must be able to load objects from it's own library to continue on. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong, but when I have several SWFs that all use this shared symbol, and I have to compile that symbol into each SWF, it only hurts the user that has to download all these large SWFs.

I have a page that can be seen here: [URL]
As you should be able to see, it seems as though the Flash file on the left is causing the one on the right to reload upon final loading. The one on the right will reload itself once the one on the left finishes loading.
I have tested the flash files by themselves and both load only once when loaded by themselves. It seems as though one is causing the other to re-load which is just mind boggling to me.

I was wondering if someone could help me. I've spent months looking for an AS2 preloader that does the following:
1. Preloads multiple external swf files into a single movie holder.
2. Starts automatically preloading once the parent file is launched.
3. Contains a progress bar with % downloaded.
4. Can be placed on a "Preload" scene.
Working on the file in Flash CS3, AS2. I've looked at tutorials, scanned the web, etc. And I still can't find the right one, or even how to make one.

I'm kinda stuck on a project I'm working on and need some guidance. I've been making educational Flash Videos and all the lessons. Each lesson is it's own SWF. I know how to make each SWF into it's own AIR application, but don't know how to get all of them into one AIR application.
Basically I'd like to create an Interface like this:http://bit.ly/h9OKPH Where I have a menu screen where you have all the lessons. When you click on a lesson it will take you to another frame and load the SWF for that lesson. I know I can import all the SWFs into a new Flash File, and then publish an Air Application, but I was hoping for a less time consuming and more resource efficient way to do so (I want the app to be optimized for speed).

I'm currently planning out the UI for a game with a complex UI system. I have done some runtime sharing tests using fonts that are setup for sharing in one fla, and I've setup the import in another. Both files are exported as swc files and are included in the flash develop project (the font is included completely). This worked fine.What I would like to do is have my UI loaded on-demand. I was planning to have a general UI elements library that contains elements setup for sharing (similar to the font), then have separate swfs that are loaded into the main swf when they are needed. These separate swfs would use elements from the shared library. I can get this to work exclusively in the IDE, or exclusively on the server, but not both (making development awkward).
The big stumbling block I'm hitting is to do with setting up the URL paths.I think that all of the runtime paths will be based on the running 'Main' swf location. So all import/export paths need to use paths that work from this root location.for example 'data/ui/top_ui.swf' might import objects from 'ui_elements.swf' (effectively 'data/ui/ui_elements.swf'). This import will function fine when testing from the IDE, but when running on the server, this will fail as it will try to load 'ui_elements.swf' from the root folder. Worse still, it will not fire an error (as it has found 'top_ui.swf' fine) but the load will never complete as it cannot find the runtime swf.
The reason for this folder structure is that we would really prefer to keep our assets in a folder that could in theory be re-located to another server (should the bandwidth usage dictate it). To put these ui swfs in their own folder then causes all the linkage to break in the Flash IDE making editing a kludge. Fix it in the IDE and it will no longer function on load.At the moment it looks like we will just have to export swc files and embed the lot in the main swf to keep this easy for code and art.
