View 1 RepliesI've been working on a small simple air application and an interesting question has come up. Assuming the application will be a stand alone item when installed on the client's computer - what is the best way to store and present the associated dynamic data with the project?
Right now I have the data saved as three external XML files. I suppose the question is - how do I make the XML data an integral part of the app? Should I keep it in a separate file system or should I put the XML data directly into an AS file - or - should I consider some other method of storing the relevant data. (An Array or ?) The data is not a huge amount, but it is adding up to be several hundred items.
I am using sifr 2.0.7 and here's the deal. The sifr is working (I can see it in the DOM) however, the font is wrong. It doesn't pick up my swf font (DIN) unless you have it installed on your computer? The css font style is: HelveticaNeue which is what the sifr seems to render if you don't have DIN installed.I see it on my computer but my friend see DIN.

View 2 RepliesI'd like to provide alternate content for my site (a basic blog for example) in case the user does not have flash/does not want to see the flash site. Is this possible? I'd like to do it without creating a splash page that requires input.I would also like this to work for a mobile device like the ipad. I know ipads/iphones cant read flash files, so is there a way to detect that it is a mobile device and route the user to the alternate content?

Is there any way to detect whether sound card is installed on a machine using AS 2.0? I am embedding my swf in an html (javascipt)file. If this is possible in javascript, even then it will solve my purpose.
View 4 RepliesThis is really a two part question. First, is it possible to detect if Flash is installed on an Android device? Second, if it is installed, is it possible to display a flash video in an Activity? I'm thinking you'd have to use a WebView widget within your Activity to display the Flash content instead of something like a VideoView. Is Flash even supported within the WebView widget or is it only supported by the actual Browser app?

View 3 RepliesI made a swf that is heavy on graphics, it works great if the computer is good. But for the older, slower computers I'm hoping there is as3 code that can detect if the playback rate or quality is being compromsed due to processor overload? I'd like to use it in an "if" function that removes some of the uneccessary graphics when it finds the computer can't handle them all.
View 1 RepliesI'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

The navigation buttons in my .fla file are set to the font, Arial MT in Bold. It displays no problem on my desktop computer. However, when I view the website on my laptops, the font changes to what looks to be something like Times New Roman. The same thing happens with my "Read More" button text. It's also originally in Arial MT Bold. On my desktop it appears fine but on my 2 laptops it appears to be in Times New Roman. This is more of an issue because I have these buttons underlined. When viewing in my laptops, these underlines appear to be too long. If I shorten it, it'll probably appear to be too short when I view on my desktop. How can I get the font to be one consistent font for all computers?
View 3 RepliesI'm using the update function of Adobe Media Encoder and see that an update is available. I click on download and install it. Everything works fine and I get the message that the update was installed successfully. But when I start AME again it still shows 4.0.0.374 instead of 4.1.0 - what's wrong? I never had this problem before. I also tried to download and install the update by hand. Same result.especially when I see that the contact form of Adobe's customer support portal is offline.

View 2 Repliesnew to this and need a very basic push in the right direction.I have FMS 3.5 installed on my server and I am ready to begin testing with it.My website has a page with descriptions of videos and links to those videos. When a link is selected, I want a new page to open and the video to play in the FMS player.I have absolutely no idea how to go about this. I need some meaty information here. I read tom Green's tutorials, and although I found that they were informative, they are also quite general.
View 6 RepliesI'm developing a game for iOS with Flash CS5.5 Air API's. I need a way to detect if another of my Apps is installed on the device. On xCode it's simple:
I add a custom URL name with the "url types" method and I check if is installed with this code:
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] canOpenURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"myApp://"]]
