View 2 RepliesI'd like to provide alternate content for my site (a basic blog for example) in case the user does not have flash/does not want to see the flash site. Is this possible? I'd like to do it without creating a splash page that requires input.I would also like this to work for a mobile device like the ipad. I know ipads/iphones cant read flash files, so is there a way to detect that it is a mobile device and route the user to the alternate content?
View 1 RepliesI am so stuck with this I have a full flash site and a HTML5 site (made in Hype)All I want is the index file to detect if Flash is installed, if yes go to the flashsite and if not, then it should, load the html website.Here is my index file. Where do I put the redirect code?

Is there any way to detect whether sound card is installed on a machine using AS 2.0? I am embedding my swf in an html (javascipt)file. If this is possible in javascript, even then it will solve my purpose.
View 4 RepliesThis is really a two part question. First, is it possible to detect if Flash is installed on an Android device? Second, if it is installed, is it possible to display a flash video in an Activity? I'm thinking you'd have to use a WebView widget within your Activity to display the Flash content instead of something like a VideoView. Is Flash even supported within the WebView widget or is it only supported by the actual Browser app?
View 1 RepliesIs there anyway to detect if the browser has a flash player installed or supported by the html5 ?

View 4 RepliesI'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.
View 1 RepliesA quick question really, is if possible for Flash to detect PC environment variables?
View 4 RepliesI'm having a bit of trouble implementing a system that can detect night and day through webcam.
I've decided the best approach would be to detect the average colour of the webcam image, and through this it can be converted to grayscale and if its closer to black the background will be dark or if its white it'll be brighter.
What I'm having trouble doing is working out how to achieve this, I've been using the kirupa webcam tutorial but I've got no idea how to actually go about working out the average colour.[URL]..
I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:
[URL]
When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..
this is the code called sound control
onClipEvent(load)
{
_root.soundstatus="on";
_root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);
[Code]....
then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..
I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..
I build a web site in flex that some time take input. Will this website works on Touch Screen environment(KIOSK).My question is we have to make any change to handle input such as prompt on screen keyboard when input fields are get focused or it will manage my device and OS of system(KIOSK, Touch screen system) itself.
View 2 Repliesi'm working on an app (flash/As3) that lets the user upload and edit an image, and then save it to the computer, using FileReference. it's posible to know if the user computer have the option "hidden file extensions" (windows system) selected? How can i do it?
View 3 RepliesIs it possible to get list of installed AIR applications, optionally only by one vendor?
Or, is it possible to check, whether is one application (checked by name/some id/vendor) installed (this method would be preferred)
whatever you wan't to call it. Nevertheless, curious to know if Air can write inside it's own installed package. I'm referring to the OSX '.app' files found in great numbers in the applications folder. Since every one of these can be opened as a regular folder, i'm guessing that's what they are.
What other fancy filewriting tricks am i missing out on?
I'm compile a .air file of my AIR application in FB4 and i'm getting that error when I try to install. I tried creating a new app, and just copying the code over and I get the same error. What am I doing wrong?I've even recreated the certificate multiple times.
View 3 RepliesI want to detect if the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed on the machine using Adobe AIR.
How do I detect that the JRE has been installed on the machine?
Adobe AIR is pretty heavy. So is it necessary to be installed on my phone? Are there any alternatives to it..something lightweight.
View 2 RepliesI have a Flex 4 application which connects to ASP.NET webservice based on FluorineFx. It is authenticated by cookies via RemoteObject.setCreadentials()
Both applications connect to FMS server and talks to each other via RTMFP direct connection (P2P).
I want to debug both instances of this application in Firefox and Internet Explorer at one time by single click (F11).
Now I can debug only in one browser by running Debug in Flash Builder 4. I have created double browser runner with bat file registered as default browser in Preferences > General > Web browser that looks like this:
start "IE" /b "c:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe" -private %1
start "FF" /b "c:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe" -private %1
But this connects the debugger only to firstly run instance of the application in Internet Explorer.
How can I attach to and debug both instances?
I'm doing SWF application which will run in browser. And I want to capture CTRL+F key pressing event when Flex application is in focus. In Firefox it works fine but in Opera and Safari browser captures event prior to Flex application and Find Dialog pop-ups. Is there any way for flex application to capture CTRL+F event prior browser?

View 1 RepliesMy flex application has a very bad load time (approx 5 to 8 wasted seconds) but only for FF and IE, Chrome appears fine.I've determined there is some kind of useless idle time before the application's initalization event fires. This is not just my development box, it happens everywhere. It is consistent across Flash version, OS and browser versions too. I've tried multiple. Chrome consistenly works very fast, IE and FF have this strange lag.However locally, whether via localhost or remote IP, it doesn't have this issue. I'm sure you'll think it is the download time, but my SWF is very small (400K) and I've purposely made external images that are very small. I also prefetch the images via JavaScript, and firebug reports the the cache is used later. The download size can't really justify the wait time. Not to mention, why is it so much faster in chrome? Is chrome really that fast downloading images and SWF files?
Also, minimal JavaScript is called from Flex, and I've more or less ruled out that is the issue.So it isn't Chrome's super fast handling of JavaScript.I don't see any large load times with Firebug.I see JavaScript excute in the browser inline during a page load, but then the appliation init within the SWF doesn't fire for about 5 to 8 seconds later.I don't see why flash on Chrome is so much faster, nor what could be taking so long for Flash to kick in.Tried the Flex Profiler, but memory usage spikes AFTER the bad load time.Otherwise, I don't know enough or see enough to recognize a problem with it.
I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.
View 3 RepliesI have a flex component like this:
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
...
width="100%"
[code].....
I use a flex app (A) to load another flex app (B) using SWFLoader (both built using Flex Builder 3 sometime ago).Everything works fine as expected across all (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari) desktop browsers.However, if I use a TabNavigator within the flex app (B) then when you click on any of the tabs it unloads the flex app (B) and re-starts flex app (A). This behaviour appears to be limited to Webkit based browsers (Chrome & Safari) the rest of the browsers (IE, FF) work fine.
View 1 RepliesThis maybe a bit of a 'wide' question, but am putting together a brief overview of a new system I'm proposing at work. It will be a POS style system, that does quotes and invoices + crm for our work enviroment across 100 + locations.
It will communicate with server via the Internet. Flex / Air feature set (offline SQL is Internet goes down, Rich communications, rich client environment etc), the fact that we run Macs + PC makes it looks like a great choice. I know HTML 5 has offline SQL and stuff, but flex feature set is way more comprehensive / usable etc..Is anyone doing any big corporate Flex / Air projects that need to last a long time? Or are you pushing HTML and its new technologies to provide a more safe investment.
