I'm doing SWF application which will run in browser. And I want to capture CTRL+F key pressing event when Flex application is in focus. In Firefox it works fine but in Opera and Safari browser captures event prior to Flex application and Find Dialog pop-ups. Is there any way for flex application to capture CTRL+F event prior browser?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to capture the redraw event for some MovieClip / Sprite objects that are in a Scroll area.Ideally, should be able to capture the event when Flash Player itself redraws the objects as can be seen with "Show Redraw Regions" in FP Debug.I've tried to use the Event.RENDER to capture this, but it even fires when the object is not visible / redrawn.

If I want to listen to an event from a deeply nested children, I always use the capture phase. Could someone explain to me why I should rather use bubbling, its advantages, and maybe show me a situation in which bubbling would be the only solution?

So clicking any colored shape should produce an alert (except for the green one in IE, not sure why but I hope that's off topic and not related to my issue).
Clicking the Flash container in Firefox will work Perfectly fine. You should get alert boxes in this order containing: span, div and body. Flash bubbles the event to the HTML. But this is not happening in IE.
So why is Flash in IE not bubbling events to HTML?
Edit: As mentioned by Andy E this behavior can also bee seen in Google Chrome which to my knowledge is not using ActiveX to embed the flash movie into the page.
looks like flash has few issues when using transparent mode on different browsers players. Adding and removing eventlisteners on buttons are acting different. In some players everything works OK. FF and Chrome, but in IE, one of my buttons triggers the function even after removing its listener. Is this known issue, and is there any global set I can use to prevent this?
View 1 Repliesthis seems to be a simple task at beginning. I have a mygameboard object which inherited from spirit class. I added eventlistener and handler in the constructor. For some reason, the click event handler only receives some of the clicks when the mouse points to certain area of the mygameboard object. I have noticed that areas receiving mouse events are child textfield objects of mygameboard.instance. Putting this.mouseEnabled = true; in the constructor has no effect. How can I enable the whole display area of mygameboard receiving mouse events?

I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:

When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..

I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..

The object is not necessarily a display object.Although I could imagine this actually being useful somehow, in my particular case it is a learning exercise. View 2 RepliesI have a Flex 4 application which connects to ASP.NET webservice based on FluorineFx. It is authenticated by cookies via RemoteObject.setCreadentials()
Both applications connect to FMS server and talks to each other via RTMFP direct connection (P2P).
I want to debug both instances of this application in Firefox and Internet Explorer at one time by single click (F11).
Now I can debug only in one browser by running Debug in Flash Builder 4. I have created double browser runner with bat file registered as default browser in Preferences > General > Web browser that looks like this:

But this connects the debugger only to firstly run instance of the application in Internet Explorer.

I'm using a custom right click context menu for a flash app (overriding the default adobe menu). For this Uza's right click solution [URL] works well.
However, flash player plugin (for Firefox/Chrome etc) has a bug which breaks usage of international characters when its using WMode for the html embed. WMode="widnow" works.

View 1 RepliesI have a flash site that users can view full Screen video. the trouble is, I am making only the video player full screen (hiding the rest of the site behind it).
my "toggle full screen" button works in that it reduces the video player back to normal size when the user toggles out of full screen back.
but when the user hits the escape key, my flash script doesn't know that the video player should be reduced in size.
it seems there's no way to capture the ESCAPE key as a key event
My flex application has a very bad load time (approx 5 to 8 wasted seconds) but only for FF and IE, Chrome appears fine.I've determined there is some kind of useless idle time before the application's initalization event fires. This is not just my development box, it happens everywhere. It is consistent across Flash version, OS and browser versions too. I've tried multiple. Chrome consistenly works very fast, IE and FF have this strange lag.However locally, whether via localhost or remote IP, it doesn't have this issue. I'm sure you'll think it is the download time, but my SWF is very small (400K) and I've purposely made external images that are very small. I also prefetch the images via JavaScript, and firebug reports the the cache is used later. The download size can't really justify the wait time. Not to mention, why is it so much faster in chrome? Is chrome really that fast downloading images and SWF files?
Also, minimal JavaScript is called from Flex, and I've more or less ruled out that is the issue.So it isn't Chrome's super fast handling of JavaScript.I don't see any large load times with Firebug.I see JavaScript excute in the browser inline during a page load, but then the appliation init within the SWF doesn't fire for about 5 to 8 seconds later.I don't see why flash on Chrome is so much faster, nor what could be taking so long for Flash to kick in.Tried the Flex Profiler, but memory usage spikes AFTER the bad load time.Otherwise, I don't know enough or see enough to recognize a problem with it.
I am using Flex and with the AS3 libraries.I can make calls etc but when i get values returned in the event,they are in RawResult. I am not sure how to turn that into an arraycollection etc so i can make use of it in flex, or if there is a better way of accessing the data, generally speaking.

I have an editable grid and would like to update values based on the edited cell and I am doing this in the itemEditEndHandler such that when they finish editing a cell I update other cells that are dependent on it. the only problem is in the itemEditEndHandler the new value has not registered yet. If I try and get the value of the cell i find that its still giving me the old value and not the new value that I have entered.
