I have a Flash movie which fills the whole browser window. This means that always the key events are catched ("stolen") by the Flash movie only, when using Firefox. IE7 seems to be working as I want.
I want for example ctrl+w (close window), ctrl+n (new window), ctrl+t (new tab) to work in Firefox while the focus is on my Flash movie. How to accomplish this?
I want to be able to capture Ctrl + another key. How do I do this?

But I can't seem to be able to capture key combinations like Ctrl + another key.
For what I need to do, I really need to capture several key combinations. At the very least, I want to be able to capture Ctrl + another key.
The flashplayer catches all keys pressed by the user. I'd like to know if there's a way or workaround to pass them to the browser. For instance, Ctrl-T (open new tab in firefox). I'd like to re-enable this shortcut. Maybe with javascript?

I have the shortcuts on the Windows side working, but the same application on a Mac doesnt seem to trigger the commandKey property on a Keyboard event when the user is also using another key in combination (ex. command+g doesnt work)

In my application, I need to detect a CTRL-C event. I can detect CTRL-K , CTRL-T , CTRL-U, and a bunch of others, but it seems that CTRL-C is reserved ! First it detects the CTRL , but as long as the CTRL button is held down, it totally ignores C when it's pressed. I know that there was a key combination detection script here on kirupa offered by someone (Michael), but it has this problem as well. how I can detect this combination?? Here is the code Im using to test which key is being detected (Note that debug is the variable name of a textfield on the main timeline, because testing key combination events inside of flash sometimes causes problems):

When a user visits my page, they currently have to click inside a textfield within the movie to type in an ID number.How easy is it to make the movie 'live' so they don't have to click on the swf file itself Once this is sorted, I am ok with making the keyboard input populate my textfield as that already works, I am just trying to make the mouseclick on the movie non-existent. Apparently, ADA means they don't want the mouse click event to activate the movie.

If I want to listen to an event from a deeply nested children, I always use the capture phase. Could someone explain to me why I should rather use bubbling, its advantages, and maybe show me a situation in which bubbling would be the only solution?
View 5 RepliesI'm tracking the keyUp state of the CTRL key and I'm okay with the results except when it comes to key combinations. The code I wrote below is for you to see what the issue is.
Press the CTRL/Apple key and you'll see it traces "CTRL on". Release it and you'll see it traces "CTRL off". No problem there. Now press CTRL and then press the A key (as in select all), now release A, then release the CTRL key and you see nothing traces. Does anybody have an idea about a workaround to that? I prefer not to use a continuous ENTER_FRAME hack for that if any.

hold Ctrl key and start pressing C. From some point you will notice that there is no KEY_UP event for the C key (there will also be no event for A,X,R,V and maybe more). For most of the button the KEY_UP event will still be dispatched.
Here I have given the code what I used to detect alt key is pressed, but i cant get that..
I can only get altKey is false, even i pressing alt key..

How to disable Ctrl+W or Ctrl+C and Tab for .swf file
ctrlKey = false; in KeyBoardEvents but how to apply it to the stage.
I am trying to capture Ctrl+C. I have noticed that many times, there is no KEY_UP event for C key. I believe it happens in cases KEY_UP event for C key should be thrown just before or after KEY_UP event for Ctrlkey.
Why does this happen? How can I catch the KEY_UP for C key?
I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.

and i checked with [URL]...?newspage=6249 and it looked more or less the same, so why is it that when i move my character and when i hold down a key, it just keeps on listerning to that keypress event listener, instead of just executing the other event. So say, i tap left and after which i tap right, it will work just fine, but if i hold left and tap right, the event listerner will still be listening to the left key. So, i was wondering could anyone point me in a direction as to how should i make my code stop listening to an event as soon as another event has been dispatched?
I am doing this inside a module containing viewstacks and their childs.Calling onInit() on creationComplete of module.When I am inside one of the childs of a viewstack of this module and press Enter, it doesnt not invoke the listener function at all (bp inside this does not get hit).

When game starts, the car runs automatically. Then we click the SPACE button, movement of car stops. And the door of structure near car is available to CLICK.
But in coding I got this error code:

I have a question about making a function for two different kinds of event. It's not critical but I would like to reduce my lines of code and just be more efficient. Basically I have a button on the stage called "Enter". I also want the user to have the option of hitting the enter button. I don't have a problem making these two separate handlers for these events (i.e. one handler for the KeyboardEvent and one handler for the MouseEvent):

i know that u have too define key up and down functions and in the beginnig give the keys we are using the false value, but how to make it that after i pess of a key you cant press in again unless you go to the next question that is the enable_disable in the following code. this seems to be a simple task at beginning. I have a mygameboard object which inherited from spirit class. I added eventlistener and handler in the constructor. For some reason, the click event handler only receives some of the clicks when the mouse points to certain area of the mygameboard object. I have noticed that areas receiving mouse events are child textfield objects of mygameboard.instance. Putting this.mouseEnabled = true; in the constructor has no effect. How can I enable the whole display area of mygameboard receiving mouse events?

In Firefox it works fine but in Opera and Safari browser captures event prior to Flex application and Find Dialog pop-ups. Is there any way for flex application to capture CTRL+F event prior browser?

In Flash Air, I want to be able to capture the Right Click Mouse Event, i'm sure this is very simple but i've checked the documentation and looked on google but can't seem to come up with a result.
