i'm working on an app (flash/As3) that lets the user upload and edit an image, and then save it to the computer, using FileReference. it's posible to know if the user computer have the option "hidden file extensions" (windows system) selected? How can i do it?

If ExtensionDll.dll uses the functions in the other Dll, the extension won't load. DllMain is not called. It seems like DllUsedByExtensionDll. dll is not in the Dll search path when the air application uses the extension is running. How should I make the application find the extra Dlls, if I don't want to put them into some common Dll path?
Is it possible to edit the .mxp-files that you install with the extension manager? The extension I have in mind is an API with some functions that need to be tweaked.

If I declare a window this way, and then call this.open(false);, the window will quickly open and then hide, and then be reshown when I actually display it, I want to do this to be able to load content and fit the window to that size before showing it.
A quick question really, is if possible for Flash to detect PC environment variables?
View 4 RepliesI'm developing an AIR application which uses multiple windows. I'm running into an issue where I want to open new windows (toaster notifications for example) when the primary application window is not visible, but the behavior is different depending on how the window is closed.
When a user hides all application windows with CMD-H, opening a new window causes all application windows to come back to the foreground (instead of just that new window, like I would expect). If the user closed a window with CMD-W, however, that window does not become visible when I open a new window.
Is there a way to either 1) tell when the user uses cmd-h to hide all windows OR 2) tell whether a window is hidden using cmd-h vs. closed cmd-w?
i have one list box in my movie. I want that it should show all the files with the extension with .JPG in the local folder where my fla file is. Is it possible? All the files will be saved in a indexed way like jpg1.jpg, jpg2.jpg, jpg3.jpg.
View 2 RepliesFor the past while, my developer has been working with me on a small project to put together a live interactive whiteboard app, powered by Flash Media Interactive Server. Well, everything is finished & ready to go, but there seems to be a big problem:
The app was developed & tested on a windows machine, while my server and all my website files (to integrate with) is on a Linux system.
It's been a month since this problem arrose, and there had not been any further progress with this project for the time. My developer doesn't seem to know much about how the 'conversion process' works, if there is one.
Do you know if this is possible (to convert a windows-programmed app to work on a linux system)? If so, do you know roughly how it should be handled?

I've decided the best approach would be to detect the average colour of the webcam image, and through this it can be converted to grayscale and if its closer to black the background will be dark or if its white it'll be brighter.

Why on earth doesn't Safari on Windows use cached files...
When the movie's been downloaded and cached for IE & FF, on a refresh, Safari insist on re-downloading a fresh file from the server, again & again...
If it does, where the hell in Settings can you set it so that it'll favor cached files if they exist, rather than downloading a fresh one from the server...

The main movie loads an intro flv, and it has a button to skip which loads another swf.When I run the .app in MacOS, it works fine. The video is displayed and the button jumps to the mentioned swf. However, when running the .exe in Windows, no video is showed and the button does nothing.I think it's a path problem. I'm using relative ones, and have tried in all forms:

I'm trying to set up a preload system that can load multiple XML files and manage an overall progress bar but got immediately screwed by ProgressEvents not bubbling. My basic code set up is: Document Class
XMLManager extends EventDispatcher
XMLloader extends EventDispatcher
So document class up an array of xml paths and passes that to the XMLManager, that then iterates through the array and creates a new XMLloader for each path and stores those XMLloaders in another array. The XMLloader goes off and creates an URLLoader that loads the XML. It has listeners for Event.Complete, IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR and ProgressEvent.PROGRESS which is fine.
I'm getting the correct progress data in my progress handler but what I want to do is broadcast that progress data straight back up to the Document Class which I had thought would be where dispatchEvent would come in by doing something like this in the XMLloader class:

I'm going to load some external files in to my main fla-file. I want the code in my main fla to be executed when all files are properly loaded.

I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?
Is there a way to detect the total size of all files in a fileReferenceList?
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if it is possible to make and App capable of listening when the user "adds" new files to a directory.
Example:
The User opens up our Application. The user adds new files on the desktop (using the Microsoft Explorer). Our application automatically detects that new files have been added and executes a function or whatever.
Maybe, this could be done using a programming language like Visual Basic and open the executable with the NativeProcess api and listen for an stdOut event.
