View 3 RepliesI bought an Easy Flash Template from web-flash-template.com. The template consists of a flash file (fully flash based site), PSD files, image files and a .txt file for all the text. There's no problem editing all the files, except for the .fla file. I am trying to edit it to add a new page, embed a youtube video, etc and I see no layers for each screen. When I look in the ActionScript I see some details there which mentions screen 50 or 95, etc, but I can't edit any of those screens. Either I'm missing the boat thoroughly (which could be ) or this is a poorly designed template.So, my question is, would anyone here who is a little more experienced with flash be willing to let me email them the file to take a quick look at it to give me any pointers?

After several minutes (less than 10!) of doing nothing but editing a .as file, I see an impending crash in the form of little pink squares around the scroll bars. Most of the time, if I save right then, then exit Flash, I escape without losing any work. If I ignore the warning signs, or sometimes just by Ugly Surprise with no warning, Flash crashes. It doesn't seem like using the app as an IDE for AIR apps, especially when doing little but composing and editing source files, ought to be that taxing.

I want to have 2 types of advertisements: pay per click, and pay per impression/view.Ofcourse there are many php ad managers out there, but how can I display the ads inside of flash? I don't mind if I manage the whole thing in a php page, but at the end, I want the advertisements to be displayed within flash, and ofcourse have all necessary changes made when a user clicks on an Ad (pay per click), or when the Ad is displayed (pay per impression).
View 3 RepliesI am developing a a game in Flash using the PureMVC framework. From time to time I need to show dialog pop-up window to get a user response back (e.g. "Cancel", "OK" and other kinds of asynchronous user feedback) while "locking" the background for interactivity.
I need some management for my pop-ups: all pop-up notifications should be stacked up, so that if two (or more) pop-up messages are initiated at the same time I show them one by one.
What's the best practice here? Should I employ a proxy to manage my pop-ups (sounds unreasonable). How do I get feedback back from my dialog? using notifications?
I need to make a site 100% in flash but this site has to be update by the client.So my is how to add more pages to the site with a content manager?I read the forums and i understand how to dynamic create more menus without any problem with a CMS using xml, i also know how update a specific part of the site. i mean i can create dynamic text fields and update them with no problem also using xml. Well i can update fields that allready exists on the flahs it self. but in case that my client decide to add a new menu.. it has to redirect to a specific frame where the content of that specific theme is but if it don't exist.

Are there any good tutorials or source code examples for a simple yet effective AIR download manager developed using Flash CS4. I have come across a Flex based tutorial, so how would I go about using this to develop it in Flash?
I've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.
i want to know whether its possible to change the local settings manager of flash programatically?. Earlier when the global settings manager was there i changed the settings by directly editing the .sol file? Will the same work now?
View 1 RepliesI double-clicked on a bitmap-item in the library and instead of opening the properties-windows where you can change compression, import and so on, the focus changed to a random explorer window and flash got "locked". Flash probably thought that it actually opened a new sub-window and waited for it being closed, but there was no such window! Seems like the open-procedure failed and the next window to focus on was just an explorer window. Closing this one didn't get the focus back to flash. What a luck, I could still save the file using ctrl-s but couldn't get back to the application. So I had to kill Flash with the task-manager.

Is there a drawing board in Flash Professional CS 5.5 installed or an extension? I want to use it to display a text string, and the user would be able to draw above the text. For example I could display a question and the user would be able to circle the right answer. Is it possible?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a Flash tool that needs to send some data in the form of a flash.utils.ByteArray instance to PHP (amfphp service class) and get that data back from the amfphp service as flash.utils.ByteArray instance. Now I can do all of these with the php_amf extension enabled on the local WAMP server. And the tool works fine. But how can I achieve this without the php_amf extension? I'm deploying on a shared hosting server and I don't have access to the php.ini and also the dl() function of PHP is disabled for security reason. With the extension disabled, I can send the ByteArray instance to PHP and save the data to DB. But the problem arises when I try to retrieve the data from DB, create a ByteArray instance (amfphp helper class) with the data and send back to Flash. I'm guessing here that proper AMF message is not being constructed because of the absence of the php_amf extension.

Problem: When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash".User specifies the filename.File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's [url]...........)
Possible Duplicate: losing extension when use FileReference download I'm having an issue that looks common when using the FileReference class in FP10 when saving a file. The whole thing works fine as long as I don't change the default filename. If I do, then I loose the extension of the file... which is annoying >_< I haven't found any "acceptable" workaround, but the posts I've seen are from a couple of months already. So I'm inquiring hoping that something's been done regarding this issue since then =)
View 1 Repliesi've got a pic gallery from kirupa which i modified a bit.I've added a download button with filereference. The thing is everthing works when the download button is pressed.But if somebody wants to download a picture and wants to change the name the file isn't recognised because the extension is lost.Flash doesnt read after the dot (example .jpg). If you dont change the name of the file which you save it keeps its extension.

I have a Flash Web site for a small literary journal and am trying to switch over to my hosting service's mailing list manager for sending out newsletters. I see the HTML code for setting this up (available from my host), but do not know how to get it to work in my Flash site. (I did not build the site and know very little about Flash...I'm learning as I go in order to do updates.) It looks like the site currenly links to a PHP file to allow for sign ups to our newsletter. Can anyone tell me h how to get the HTML code to work on my site?

I want to import the filenames, and then create a for loop that goes through and adds some html tags to each name, and eventually I'll spit out a text file of it all for me to copy and import into a search function on a webpage. I think I can work through the latter, but I was wondering how to originally import the filenames into a swf?

For each page, I have a value stored in my CMS that is the "streamName". The stream name corresponds to a flashvars paramenter in the object/embed tags that show the video player:&streamName=my-great-video
On my new player, I'm able to get the video using a URL similar to [URL] How Does Flash (or Amazon???) know to add in the .swf extension? There are several video formats used on the site, and the current player works with them all... But, as I mentioned above, on each page the value store for the video (ex="my-great-video") includes no extension.

If you mousedown inside a Flash element, it never registers the mouseup and it appears as though you're still holding your mouse button down even though you've let go. At first I thought it was some kind of event bubbling issue, that this method was swallowing the event, so I tried returning true (and false for that matter) but it didn't seem to have any effect.
