Flash - Popup Dialog Box Manager Using PureMVC

I am developing a a game in Flash using the PureMVC framework. From time to time I need to show dialog pop-up window to get a user response back (e.g. "Cancel", "OK" and other kinds of asynchronous user feedback) while "locking" the background for interactivity.
I need some management for my pop-ups: all pop-up notifications should be stacked up, so that if two (or more) pop-up messages are initiated at the same time I show them one by one.
What's the best practice here? Should I employ a proxy to manage my pop-ups (sounds unreasonable). How do I get feedback back from my dialog? using notifications?

If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?

I am trying to get the Privacy Settings Tab to show in our flash/flex4 video chat application we are building.I have 2 systems with latest Flash installed (currently 11.1.102.62). However, the player always shows this (privacy popup question) instead of this (privacy settings tab) when loading the app.The reason i want the settings tab to show is because i need the end user to easily check the "remember" box. I have tried to call Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.PRIVACY); before as well as after the getCamera/getMicrophone calls but all that happens is we get 2 popups instead of 1.and still no "remember" option.Actually it doesnt show the privacy tab at all!Searched tons of forums but have come up empty.I have also searched the adobe docs but all I find is a paragraph stating"if your computer or device doesn't support audio or video recording using Flash Player, you don't need to allow or deny access, and this panel doesn't appear".Which is hardly true since one of the systems we are testing with is a new Macbook Air running latest OSX.Does anyone have any insight into why this might be happening and how to display the "Privacy Settings" and not the "Privacy pop-up question"?

Is there any kind of a standard for the location (padding) and size of the usual "ok" and "cancel" buttons on a Flex pop-up dialog box? In another stackoverflow question it was suggested that the approach be host operating system dependent (e.g. Windows vs Mac vs Linux).

I'm using MATE on an Adobe Flex project for MVC. On one of our pages, we have a dialog window that is presented to the user that displays them information that comes from RPC. The pages where this dialog pops up is unrelated to the data being displayed so this is a separate model. How do I create a MATE mapping file that will create the dialog window, make it visible to the user, and then inject in data from a model?

I dont have any experiencie using this pattern when developing a game, except on a data driven website made mostly in Flex.The question is, are there any drawbacks of this pattern?, let say, performance for example?If anyone implemented a game using this framework.

I'm making an app with flash AS3 and puremvc, the way to correctly handle view mediators is sort of throwing me a little...I have 3 or 4 distinct views, each governed by it's own mediator.Each view is only displayed on its own - ie. when 1 is visible/on stage - the others are invisible/removed from stage (over simplified, but I guess could be thought of as seperate pages, viewed one at a time, a nav bar allows a user to change views when they like)
At first each view mediator I had creating and added to stage it's own view component, and as such, when it was 'turn' to show or hide that view, it was simple - addChild and removeChild for it's view component.However, I read over at puremvc.org that it's not good practice to
a. pass round the stage (which was the viewComponent for each mediator in my case - where each view was added to - eg. viewComponent.addChild(foo)
b. create its own view - which allowed me to add and remove it in the first place.
So I changed to the recommended way - when I create each mediator, what I pass in is the view component it governs (rather than the stage/main doc class eg.

facade.registerMediator( new MyViewMediator( view ) );
viewComponent.addChild(view);
with that the case - I have no idea how I would go about removing/adding each view when needed.I could easily enough set the visibility from within each mediator, but I sort of wanted to avoid doing that - prefer removing when not in use for resource management...how I am 'meant' to go about this (as in, when a view is no longer needed on stage, remove it - temporarily, and add it later on when it is needed?)

I'm at the verge of starting a (for me) very complicated project and I am confused about in what way I should setup my code.EXPERIENCE:- I've been programming AS2 for almost 7 years now- Finally switched to AS3 a year ago- Have beworking with the PureMVC framework in my last couple projects nowPROJECT DESCRIPTION:I have to make several templates for a dynamic quiz game.+ Information about the quizzes comes from a database+ quizzes can have different kind of question and there are also other types of screens (information, video, etc)+ All quizzes are dynamic and therefor different+ there have to be several different templates (design, animations and dimensions)MY PROBLEM:I don't really know how to tackle the different templates in the right way.I want all the templates to make use of the same basic code, but only look different (design, transitions and dimensions) terefor I think I should use a MVC pattern.But how do I implement it in such a way that I:- can have 3 different templates- add extra features to the source code without needing to update all the templates- easily add other templates when neededI'm a bit stuck in the MVC way if thinking (which is quite complex for me).
- Do I need to create different sf's = SWFs for every template (and thus the need to update them all for every new feature we implement)- Or should I use a core template, on which I can expand a new "skin" by dynamically loading a theme-swf?

Im running a flash website, Im getting around 15,000 visits per day, and I have allocated 4 areas of the site for advertisements. I want to have 2 types of advertisements: pay per click, and pay per impression/view.Ofcourse there are many php ad managers out there, but how can I display the ads inside of flash? I don't mind if I manage the whole thing in a php page, but at the end, I want the advertisements to be displayed within flash, and ofcourse have all necessary changes made when a user clicks on an Ad (pay per click), or when the Ad is displayed (pay per impression).

I need to make a site 100% in flash but this site has to be update by the client.So my is how to add more pages to the site with a content manager?I read the forums and i understand how to dynamic create more menus without any problem with a CMS using xml, i also know how update a specific part of the site. i mean i can create dynamic text fields and update them with no problem also using xml. Well i can update fields that allready exists on the flahs it self. but in case that my client decide to add a new menu.. it has to redirect to a specific frame where the content of that specific theme is but if it don't exist.

I want to develop an AIR application that will let users of my website download multiple files in a single process. My database stores details of all the files uploaded by a user so I want them to be able to simply choose a location on local disk then download all files they have uploaded to this location.
Are there any good tutorials or source code examples for a simple yet effective AIR download manager developed using Flash CS4. I have come across a Flex based tutorial, so how would I go about using this to develop it in Flash?

I've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.

I double-clicked on a bitmap-item in the library and instead of opening the properties-windows where you can change compression, import and so on, the focus changed to a random explorer window and flash got "locked". Flash probably thought that it actually opened a new sub-window and waited for it being closed, but there was no such window! Seems like the open-procedure failed and the next window to focus on was just an explorer window. Closing this one didn't get the focus back to flash. What a luck, I could still save the file using ctrl-s but couldn't get back to the application. So I had to kill Flash with the task-manager.

i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.

I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

I have a Flash Web site for a small literary journal and am trying to switch over to my hosting service's mailing list manager for sending out newsletters. I see the HTML code for setting this up (available from my host), but do not know how to get it to work in my Flash site. (I did not build the site and know very little about Flash...I'm learning as I go in order to do updates.) It looks like the site currenly links to a PHP file to allow for sign ups to our newsletter. Can anyone tell me h how to get the HTML code to work on my site?

I just created a xml editor in Flex that works perfectly, but i'm having trouble with save option. In fact he's saving quite well, the problem is that it is displaying a dialog box for saving the document, and i want to save and replace the file automatically when i click the save button without displaying the dialog box.
NOTE: I am using the FileReference class to use the method Save(), i read somewhere on the internet that FileStream class can be used for this, but i don't know how...

So, I'm pretty sure this is impossible, but is there any way to "re-skin" the box that pops up asking you if flash should be allowed access to your mic and webcam? I'd really love to make that box fit with the rest of the design of whatever I'm building.
Also, if I have several swfs that use the mic/webcam inside one larger shell swf, will the dialog box appear once for each of the sub-swfs, or just once for the large one, and those settings will be applied to all the sub-swfs?

Currently I am working on flex using puremvc framework. Actually my question is related to where to register mediator in puremvc framework. One of my colleague is registering mediator in views(components) creationComplete method only (inside view). While my preference is send some notification from creationComplete method which could be handle by some command and command will register mediator. So which one is better approach in terms of best practice ?

This vo is also a BlazeDS entity and is mapped to a remote java object. When shell loads first module everything is ok. The second module is a list of ShopRegionVOs and item change is handled with the following code:

A project requirement is that it be 1 way deeplinkable(a specific query string will load a section within the swf).I have a URLProxy that I use for all external linking. It makes sense to me to put the query string logic in this proxy. So in the constructor, I check for a querystring, and then send a notification if it equals a predefined value.One problem with this is that I'd like to predefine this query string key value I am checking against in an external xml file. So another proxy, loads-parses this config xml, then the URL proxy checks against this.

I have a web application which contains a data grid. Double clicking on any row of that grid will open a popup (lets call it popup1). Now this popup1 again opens a new popup(lets call it popup2). When I close the popup2, I need pass an Object to popup1. Which is the easiest way to do that?
(PS: While opening popup2 from popup1, I am adding an event listener on Close event of popup2)

I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?
