View 1 RepliesI am developing a a game in Flash using the PureMVC framework. From time to time I need to show dialog pop-up window to get a user response back (e.g. "Cancel", "OK" and other kinds of asynchronous user feedback) while "locking" the background for interactivity.
I need some management for my pop-ups: all pop-up notifications should be stacked up, so that if two (or more) pop-up messages are initiated at the same time I show them one by one.
What's the best practice here? Should I employ a proxy to manage my pop-ups (sounds unreasonable). How do I get feedback back from my dialog? using notifications?
I'm working with a very old version on Flash (Flash 8 Professional) and need to show popup windows similar to JQueryUI Dialog Boxes [URL] How can i get similar objects using this version of Flash?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to get the Privacy Settings Tab to show in our flash/flex4 video chat application we are building.I have 2 systems with latest Flash installed (currently 11.1.102.62). However, the player always shows this (privacy popup question) instead of this (privacy settings tab) when loading the app.The reason i want the settings tab to show is because i need the end user to easily check the "remember" box. I have tried to call Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.PRIVACY); before as well as after the getCamera/getMicrophone calls but all that happens is we get 2 popups instead of 1.and still no "remember" option.Actually it doesnt show the privacy tab at all!Searched tons of forums but have come up empty.I have also searched the adobe docs but all I find is a paragraph stating"if your computer or device doesn't support audio or video recording using Flash Player, you don't need to allow or deny access, and this panel doesn't appear".Which is hardly true since one of the systems we are testing with is a new Macbook Air running latest OSX.Does anyone have any insight into why this might be happening and how to display the "Privacy Settings" and not the "Privacy pop-up question"?
View 1 RepliesIs there any kind of a standard for the location (padding) and size of the usual "ok" and "cancel" buttons on a Flex pop-up dialog box? In another stackoverflow question it was suggested that the approach be host operating system dependent (e.g. Windows vs Mac vs Linux).
View 1 RepliesI'm using MATE on an Adobe Flex project for MVC. On one of our pages, we have a dialog window that is presented to the user that displays them information that comes from RPC. The pages where this dialog pops up is unrelated to the data being displayed so this is a separate model. How do I create a MATE mapping file that will create the dialog window, make it visible to the user, and then inject in data from a model?
View 1 RepliesIf you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?
View 1 RepliesWhat happens when an object which has a function currently being executed has all its references removed?I want to have a dialog box type object held in an array by the main class for my program, and when the dialog needs to be closed, I want it to be removed from the array during that close-screen function. My question is, assuming the dialog box object is in all other ways eligible for garbage collection, what happens to the code it's supposed to be executing?
Edit for clarification:The array is a layer of visual elements in my program, of which the dialog box is one. The idea is that the "OK" button (or whatever) that closes the box will also remove it from the array of objects being displayed at the same time.
Learning as I go but basically what I have are two windows. The "background window" displays content to the player and a "popup" window shows in front of it to explain the window currently displayed. I have close functions assigned to both windows to close their respective display objects, but what I really need is for the popup window to close when the background window closes.
Here's the relevant code for the popup window that displays info on the background window:
Code:
package com.view.windows
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
[code]....
Important thing I forgot to mention is that I removed some of the code from the above files to hopefully cut back on reading. Only the relevant stuff (or what I believe to be) is posted.I think what I need to do is include something within the "closeWindow" function within the WindowHolder class that relates to the popup class.
i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.
View 1 RepliesI need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a popup alert modal window thing with an external class. I have a simple swf set up with just some random sample text, a rectangle, and a button. What I want to happen is for the "alert" class to initialize upon startup of the swf and then when I click the button (instance: btn), the alert will show up. If I get rid of all AS in the swf and set alert as the document class, it shows up just fine, so I think it should be working, but for some reason I get this instead when I try the button function:

I would like to have a quick message displayed on the screen for a few seconds after a user clicks a button. I can't seem to find an Alert Box or Dialog Box option in Flash CS4.
View 1 RepliesI just created a xml editor in Flex that works perfectly, but i'm having trouble with save option. In fact he's saving quite well, the problem is that it is displaying a dialog box for saving the document, and i want to save and replace the file automatically when i click the save button without displaying the dialog box.
NOTE: I am using the FileReference class to use the method Save(), i read somewhere on the internet that FileStream class can be used for this, but i don't know how...
So, I'm pretty sure this is impossible, but is there any way to "re-skin" the box that pops up asking you if flash should be allowed access to your mic and webcam? I'd really love to make that box fit with the rest of the design of whatever I'm building.
Also, if I have several swfs that use the mic/webcam inside one larger shell swf, will the dialog box appear once for each of the sub-swfs, or just once for the large one, and those settings will be applied to all the sub-swfs?
I have a web application which contains a data grid. Double clicking on any row of that grid will open a popup (lets call it popup1). Now this popup1 again opens a new popup(lets call it popup2). When I close the popup2, I need pass an Object to popup1. Which is the easiest way to do that?
(PS: While opening popup2 from popup1, I am adding an event listener on Close event of popup2)
I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?
<parsley:PopUp open="{presenter.scenarioCreatePopup}" modal="true" center="true" reuse="false" id="hem" >
<views:ScenarioView width="100%" height="100%" id="scenarioView"/>

I have Flash CS4 10.0.1.545 Mac with OS X 10.5.6: I have the standard Workspace and when I select Import to import an image, the open file dialog in OS X slides down from the top of the stage and the entire Flash window that is holding my timeline and stage moves down about 100 pixels. I then import, then I click the top of the window to move it back up and it snaps back instantly as soon as I click on it before I drag it up.
View 2 RepliesTill now all the exceptions in my code will cause the host flash player to pop up a window to say there is an exception and the execution will be paused, I am wondering is there any exception/abnormal things that will be detected by flash player but not be popped up?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to set up flash's FileReference class to download files from a publicly accessible web directory to a specific location on my hard drive, without having to use the browse dialogue that is automatically triggered using the download() method. Anyone know how to predefine a location for the downloaded file so I don't have to trigger the dialogue? [URL].

i have a webcam flash projector application , but whenever i start the application, it will pop out an adobe dialog asking me to accept/deny. Is it possible to remove that dialog window?? can I convent it to AIR to remove the dialog?
View 10 RepliesI have an AS2 Flash SWF that is calling another AS2 Flash File using loadMovieNum("flash.swf",2) and a JavaScript file that calls a function on page using a timer. This is what I get in Firefox with Flash 10 (IE8 gives no error message):
uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception:
Error in Actionscript. Use a try/catch block to find error.].
What is going wrong? I can't see a problem. It is suppose to clear the contents of the embedded swf and use a Flash alert dialog to confirm Yes or No.
Flash:
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
import mx.controls.Alert;[code]......
I am using Flex 4 and running into some problems displaying a simple alert box. The alert box shows up, but the text seems to be the same color as the background. I know the text is there because if I mouse over in the alert box window to roughly where the text would be, I can see the cursor change. And when I double click and copy-paste into notepad, I can see the message. But the message, the button text, the message box title don't show up.The relevant code in my project is as follows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" layout="absolute"

I know that there is no implementation of File Save Dialog in JavaScript as of now, but it can be done with Flash. I am looking for a lib or source code in Flash that could do it for me so that I can call it via JavaScript. JavaScript knows the data and filename, I just want to open a file save dialog.
View 1 RepliesFlash content should have wmode set to opaque. In my case, part of the JQuery dialog is above and part is below. Obviously it's possible for stuff to appear on top of the flash video (because part already is), but I don't know why most of it appears under the Flash.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to integrate a JavaScript multiple file uploader into a website. I've worked with Uploadify before and wanted to go with that. The difference in this case was that I needed to allow a large number of files in the upload queue (up to 500).
Everything works fine in Firefox, IE6-9 and Safari. Except for Chrome, where when selecting more than 232 files at once (using the Flash file select dialog) it doesn't do anything (the file select event is not triggered for the JS script to capture).
At first I thought it was an Uploadify bug, and decided to try Plupload as an alternative. Problem is that I hit the same dead end with the Flash version of Plupload, it just won't do anything when selecting more than 232 files at once.
Is this a known Flash Player limitation/bug in Chrome?
i am wondering if there is a way with flash to call the open file dialog box so the user can browse his/her directories to select the file to load. also, if this is possible, is there a way to choose what type of files are allowed?
View 3 Repliesok, so a couple of months ago, while using Flash CS4, I started getting this unusual bug where the application would terminate, no error report dialog, no system reports, I didn't even get the satisfying *doonk* sound that Windows likes to make every time you try something Microsoft haven't thought of yet.

I'm setting up some auto build scripts with ant and jsfl for use in Flash CS4. I have a few files that have some missing fonts. For these I just want to have the default mapping selected since the text content in question isn't displayed. I think CS5 may have an option to not display the mapping dialog, but CS4 doesn't. Anyone know if there's a jsfl method to targert this window and just select 'OK'?
