Professional :: Handling Flash CS4 Font Mapping Dialog With Jsfl?
Sep 20, 2010
I'm setting up some auto build scripts with ant and jsfl for use in Flash CS4. I have a few files that have some missing fonts. For these I just want to have the default mapping selected since the text content in question isn't displayed. I think CS5 may have an option to not display the mapping dialog, but CS4 doesn't. Anyone know if there's a jsfl method to targert this window and just select 'OK'?
Every time I open a CS4 Flasf FLA file I am prompted with the Font Mapping dialog box.Even though I select the substitute fonts, every time it asks for it -- even after SAVE ASing the file under another name.
var tmpDoc = fl.createDocument(); /*..some logic...*/ tmpDoc.addItem({x:0,y:0},item);
My JSFL has the above code. And on the 3rd line, I get a dialog box :which has title : "Resolve library conflict"two radio button options : "replace","dont replace"two buttons : "ok","cancel" Due to this dialog box, I have to manually monitorthe script execution and click on a button. want to either :1. Suppress these kind of dialog boxex altogether.2. or programatically provide a default option to these kind of dialogs
JSFL includes a nice command named addItemToDocument. This allows the script to add components from the component panel to the stage (and library). If the component already appears on stage and the addition is newer than the version on stage, a dialog appears with the question 'One or More library items already exist in the document.' That is a rather inconvient happening for automating this task. My main goal is to update the components in many files after I update a component. I don't want to manually respond to that dialog.
we have a C++ application that hosts a flex application in a MFC dialog. Everything works fine, all button pushes etc are passed directly on to flex with no problem at all, except the enter and escape keys, which immediately closes the dialog. We can trap the enter key, by implementing PreTranslateMessage() or OnOK() and impede the window closing behavior, but we still have the problem of passing these enter key pushes on to the hosted flex app further. There is no "default" button on the form or anything like that, perhaps MFC is linking the enter key to the close button in the title bar behind the scenes or something. Does anyone have any ideas how we can stop MFC from treating the enter key from being a special case.[code]
I would like to create a dynamic 3 layer image that can have any of the 3 layers changed. i was thinking of doing this with alpha mapping where I have a back, middle, and front layer each defined by an alpha map. So if the style or shape of these changed I just render the texture with a new alpha map to define what portion actually takes the texture. So for each of the 3 layers there is a type(defines the shape), the texture which is applied to the shape, and an alpha map that is used to specify how the shape takes the image.
Imagine a fruit basket that can have the fruit switched out or the basket, and any combination of textures applied. You could potentially see the inside of the basket which may have a different texture than the outside. The fruit would all be one image that would then fit into the basket, and finally the basket would render. Then if you swap the color of the basket but keep the same model it would update, and you could then swap the model of the basket and keep the same color. But i'd want to do it where I have 1 texture that can fit over all the baskets but is just chopped off using alpha mapping.
Is it possible to execute a jsfl function from a jsfl file instead of a full string with MMExecute? And above of that how can i change the base class with jsfl? i created a panel to create certain displayobjects but i really need to change the base class instead of the normal class name.
ok, so a couple of months ago, while using Flash CS4, I started getting this unusual bug where the application would terminate, no error report dialog, no system reports, I didn't even get the satisfying *doonk* sound that Windows likes to make every time you try something Microsoft haven't thought of yet.
The following bit of javascript writes and retrieves a cookie which counts a users visits to the page. Then using swfobject it both embeds main_banner.swf and passes the cookie value "visits" to it via flashvars. The trouble is in the actionscript below; the vallue has been passed (this is certain, because the .swf shows up rather than the alternative content)- but the .swf is stuck on the first frame rather than processing the cookie and sending the user to the appropriate frame label.

how to get Javascript in an HTML page containing an FLV video to listen for cue points in the video? I understand how to get the cue points in, but most people only seem to want to handle the cue point events within Flash. I want to use Javascript to display a different text in a page element at each point. Does the method vary depending on what player you're using? How about when it's the standard Flash playback component? Does there need to be any special Actionscript in the SWF containing the FLV?
We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: [URL]
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.
I have a bunch of fla files with a sequence of frames that need to be readjusted due to a change in frame rate requirements. How can i add frames to specific frame numbers using JSFL script? Or at least what API can i use? Is there one in one of the properties and methods of the DOM object from fl.getDocumentDOM?
I am evaluating the possibility of developing a JSFL script to parse a FLA and need to know first if it would be able to do what i want to do. I need the script to parse through all the library's linked assets, recursively go through their children, replace all the children of type "Group" with a bitmap and then save that FLA as a new file. I haven't received an ok to develop this yet at work, but i'm trying to evaluate the possibility for a proposal.
I have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.
I need to present chemical formulas with subscripts and superscripts in a dynamic text box. To do this, I've downloaded and embedded the GG Subscript and GG Superscript fonts, created a dynamic text box with Arial as the font, and added ActionScript code to change the font when I need subscripts and superscripts. the following is a simplified version of my code.
[Code].....
I get a compiler error 1119 Access of possibly undefined property html through a reference with static flash.text:TextField. The text box is a dynamic text box, not static, so I'm puzzled.I don't get this error with the GG Subscript code above.
I don't really know that much about Commands in Flash, but I was thinking this could be a possible Command to create.See, I have this puppet made up of dozens of separate pieces, all on their own layers. It's very tedious to click on 10 different symbols in order to move the character's arm, for example.I was wondering if there was a way to create a JSFL command to select each of the 10 symbols on the stage.
I tried clicking each one, and saving the "Change Selection" actions from the History Panel as a Command, but that is location-based.As soon as I move those symbols to a new location, the command I saved no longer selects them. And I can't select the objects by layer or frame, because it doesn't seem to want to save those either.
I'm writing a JSFL script to export animations from Flash. I iterate through every frame in the timeline, and for each frame I go through every element in every layer, and write each Element's symbol name and matrix values out to a file. The problem is, if you've created animation using a motion tween, the exporter steps through every frame but sees the same matrix values for each Element in every frame. This is where I hit the first problem: Iterating through the timeline in this way doesn't seem to work. I can't see any way of getting the right information out for each frame.
There is a workaround: Namely, selecting all the animated layers on the timeline, and selecting "Convert to Frame by Frame animation" from the context menu. Then you run the exporter, and then you have to undo the "Convert to Frame by Frame" animation in order to continue working on the file. That's pretty messy, so I tried to automate the process, by having the export script perform the convert to frame by frame. When you perform the action, and look it up in the History window, Flash tells you that the JSFL command it used was the following:
Due to a Flash bug in CS5 & CS5.5, I've been forced to generate a dialog with straight XUL instead of XUL opening a swf. I'm trying to stylize the textbox textfield to mask the password entered and I'm having issues coming up with a solution for this. It seems the most straight-forward way to mask would be to assign the textfield a strange font which would serve this purpose - like WingDings. However, i'm not sure of the correct way to stylize a textbox via CSS. I'd like to be able to have the CSS inline in the XUL's XML file, similar to how you can have inline script:
I've installed new font into system(if it's important OS is Windows Vista), but it was not added in flash(i.e I can't select a new font as a font of a text field). What should I do to make flash see new font?
which is the best flash mapping api (with good support and reasonable price) to use in my flash project. I have used UMapper s Umap before but its too expensive for a commercial license and the support was not that good.
I have been useing fonts like A.C.M.E secret agent, Crashlanding, Feast of flesh, mouth breather and so on.When i export the project all the text becomes Times new roman on other computers but mine. Or let me re phrase that to make sure there is no confusion. When the project is viewed on my computer the font looks fine but when viewed on any other computer the font is Times new roman and the sizes are completely messed up.
I've installed a couple of fonts on my Mac that I want to use in Flash CS3, but they're not showing up in the font list.how do I install them so that Flash will pick them up?
I'm adapting an off the shelf mp3 player and would like to make some text bold - namely [URL] the text that shows the current artist/song at the top. This is dynamic text from an XML file. I've embedded the fonts [Verdana regular and bold - OpenType] in Flash CS5 but the bold won't display even though the special characters do display [Jónsi].
I am building a web site on flash for my very first time and I have a problem. When I see my project in another computer I can`t see the fonts I used. Flash replace them with others. I gues that's because they are not installed in the system I'm trying to use.How can I embed fonts to a text?
