Jul 23, 2009

Every time I open a CS4 Flasf FLA file I am prompted with the Font Mapping dialog box.Even though I select the substitute fonts, every time it asks for it -- even after SAVE ASing the file under another name.

Professional :: Handling Flash CS4 Font Mapping Dialog With Jsfl?

I'm setting up some auto build scripts with ant and jsfl for use in Flash CS4. I have a few files that have some missing fonts. For these I just want to have the default mapping selected since the text content in question isn't displayed. I think CS5 may have an option to not display the mapping dialog, but CS4 doesn't. Anyone know if there's a  jsfl method to targert this window and just select 'OK'?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embedded Fonts - Automatically Registers The Font Using The Font.registerFont Method

Nov 13, 2009

I have generated an swf file that contains my embedded font of specified Unicode range, then I am loading this swf into my application. The code in the generated file for the font, automatically registers the font using the Font.registerFont method. I then load this swf file into my application, I never add it to the display list, I just created an instance of the file so that the code is executed to register the font.

Then I use the font name when I create embedded text fields and there you go it works... well it used to, I am not having any luck at the moment though. Sometimes it displays fine, other times it all appears cut off and I see a few pixels of the text I am trying to display.... Anyone else had a similar issue? Know what it might be? I have created a class below that I am using for the embedded font text, any issues people see with this?

Actionscript 3 :: Flash Cs5 - Embedded Both Fonts - Top Font Overwrites The Second?

Jun 29, 2011

I have two dynamic text boxes on stage - strap1 and strap2 respectively. Both text boxes use the same font; just different styles. e.g strap1 is Arial regular, strap2 is arial black. In order to get a good anti-alias, I have embeded both fonts. The problem is that the top font overwrites the second. So instead of strap1 being arial normal and strap2 arial black, both textboxes are arial normal.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash CS5.5 - Font Embedding Horror (bug, Not "does Anyone Know How To Embed Fonts?")

Apr 12, 2012

I am using three fonts of the Helvetica typeface, embedding them with the embed metatag, font files inside project, openType.I noticed that for some reason the bold font looks identical to the roman font. After 4 hours of ____, and testing with five fonts, it turns out that:

if i change the name of all the font files at once, and change the reference to them in the code, all of the fonts work the first time i publish. the second time i publish (without any changes except pressing publish a second time) some fonts overwrite others, randomly, for instance :

roman looks like roman
bold looks like roman,
light looks like roman,
black looks like black,
rounded looks like black.

the only way i can make sure that flash embeds all of the fonts, is to change *all* of their names and publish. additional info:second time i publish the swf filesize is much smaller than first time ( -flash really doesn't embed anything).traces to which fonts are registered show all fonts are there,no errors

using distinct fontnames

publishing cache disabled

restart doesn't help

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Remote Fonts Without Having To Embed The Font Into An SWF?

Nov 4, 2009

What I want is to have my application be able to load a .TTF or .OTF file. What I found so far is people embedding their fonts into an .SWF and using the Loader class to load the font that way. That does not work for me because I want people using my system to be able to upload their own fonts, and not forcing them to embed it in an .SWF, because I want to keep my system as simple as possible.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Opentype Font - Embed The AvenirLight And AvenirMedium Fonts

Feb 4, 2009

I've been hunting around for a simple opentype font embedding implementation for AS3, but haven't quite found one that worked yet... I tried the most straight forward option of simply adding the font into the library of the FLA, but unfortunatly it didn't go as planned. I am trying to embed the AvenirLight and AvenirMedium fonts, but when I try to add a new font it only ever gives me one option of "Avenir", even though I have several varieties of Avenir installed. It seems like it is defaulting to one of them or something perhaps? A lot of other methods I came across involved using Flex Builder instead, and I don't want to restart my project in Flex instead just to load these OTF fonts.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Xml Embedded Fonts - Font Size Would Change Within The Swfs?

May 19, 2011

I'm making some ads that are pulling in an mxl feed that had html embedded. I'm working with flash CS5. I'm pulling the text into a dynamic text field embedded into a mc. So at first I was pulling in my feed and anything with a bold tag or a heading tag wasn't rendering the text correctly when I had arial embedded so I had to unembed all fonts. Wasn't the prettiest but was working. So now that ads are published and on certain people's computers the text loading into the text boxes are either cut off or there is extra room. So I'm wondering can dynamic text being loaded into flash be effected by the system fonts in a browser or a zoom in feature of a browser? I cant see how the but that seems to be the problem.

Flash :: Runtime Fonts Not Playing Nice With Fonts Embedded In Static Text?

Jul 11, 2010

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

Flash Detect Missing Embedded Fonts And/or Replace With Available Fonts?

Dec 22, 2010

Edited Short Version:The Adobe Flash docs list a property embedFonts on TextAreas:

A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. Regarding the "If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed" statement: How can I detect in ActionScript when this scenario happens?

TL;DR Original Version: I have a flash application which loads external .swf files containing embedded fonts, so that these fonts can be used within the main application. We're accomplishing this by using the following ActionScript code on anything which uses custom fonts:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Wanting A Smooth Transition Between Loaded Movie Clips?

Jun 1, 2006

I have approximately five external movies I am loading into one main movie. I load the movies using various buttons in the main movie.

My issue is this...I press a button and the first movie loads and then runs to the end of the timeline. Works great. When a push a second button the second movie loads and runs to the end of the timeline. Works great also.but I hate how there is a blank space between the movies.

All the movies start with a white stage and end with full graphics. When I press a second button, the movie on the stage disappears immediately and I am left with a white stage for a few seconds while the loading movie animates onto the stage.

I want there to be a cross-fade or some effect that allows the loaded movie to remain on the stage while the second movie is loading. Is there a way to make this happen?

I'm including the code I have for loading movies so you can see what I am working with thus far.

Here is the code:

Actionscript 3 :: Embedding Fonts: "Font With Plain Weight And Style Was Not Found At"

Jan 14, 2012

I am trying to embed a font in my Flash Builder 4.6 project, so far unsuccessful. I searched around and found this fix, adding "-managers flash.fonts.AFEFontManager" to the Compiler, doesn't work. Basically, I was completely stupid. I had a "#" and 2x" ` "s in the actual path to my project. I KNEW having those dumb folder names would screw my stuff up some day! And sure enough it did -with Java, but I moved Eclipse out of there a long time ago and forgot about it.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Japanese Fonts - Embed A Font Like "Arial Unicode MS" With The Kanji Character?

Oct 9, 2010

I am tasked with created a site that handles Japanese characters, and am looking for any insight you can offer for this.My main issue right now is the size spike the site will get if I embed a font like "Arial Unicode MS" with the Kanji character set which has 3174 glyphs. When I compiled an fla with only a textfield and these Japanese characters embed it stands at 731k. So I am looking for options to either eliminate the need to embed the Kanji characters or find a way to limit the number of characters needed to handle the Kanji character set.

1. Which fonts if any come pre-installed on Wins & Mac that natively handle Kanji characters.

2. If there is such a font for Win & Mac does this mean I don't need to embed the Kanji glyphs for the font in a swf, and can be sure any user viewing the site will be able to see the Janji characters, because their OS already can handle displaying Janji characters. For example if I go to a webpage on the internet that has Japanese characters I am able to view the Japanese characters, is this because the browsers themselves have these fonts embedded or is it pulling from my OS to display the Japanese font?

3. If I do need to embed a font to handle the Janji characters do I need to include all 3174 glyphs to cover all possible English equivalents. I read that you can specify a unicode range for a font, believe this only works with CS4 though. I don't know much about unicode ranges let allow the ranges I need for Japanese characters.

Flex :: Looking For Flash Mapping Framework With Multiple Levels

Jun 30, 2010

I'm looking to create a Flash Map with multiple zoom levels. Ideally what I'd like is to be able to click onto a 'state' area, and then have the map zoom down to a sub-area (which can then either have a link or zoom down to yet another sub-area). Ideally I would like to be able to define sub-areas recursively (e.g. state area, region area, town area etc.) on an infinite level, but 2 levels should suffice. I found several solutions on Flash Den, however they can only handle 1 level. Does anyone know of any Flex/Flash libraries or frameworks which are capable of doing this? Alternately, does anyone know if this would be possible with Google Maps/KML? I already have vector outlines of the areas I would like to use in Flash.

Flex :: Keyboard Code Mapping In Adobe Flash For The Browser?

Jun 18, 2009

difference between key code and character code. For example, the number 1 (one) and the character ! (bang) both have the same key code but different character codes. Likewise, the number 7 from the row of numbers and the number 7 from the numpad have different key codes but the same character codes.

I'm programming a music rhythm game in Adobe Flex and would like to bind keyboard keys. This isn't a problem, but I certainly would have a problem, say, setting the default keys to A, S, D, and F and telling the user that this is the case.If you take a look at the documentation for flash.ui.Keyboard, you'll see that there are constants for keyboard keys to key codes. However, these are only available in Adobe AIR and not the browser. This makes sense since not all operating systems and keyboards are alike (or present!), so key codes can vary.

So, how can I assign default keys that have meaning instead of picking key codes and praying? My only sane thought is to store the character codes for the key bindings and then provide an character code to String mapping so I can tell the user what to press. However, my gut tells me that this will break in subtle or not-so-subtle ways. Like CAPSLOCK.

Css :: Embedding Font In Flex Locally With A Installed Font Works, But With Url To Refer To A Ttf Font File Doesn't

Feb 7, 2011

I'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
