i want to know whether its possible to change the local settings manager of flash programatically?. Earlier when the global settings manager was there i changed the settings by directly editing the .sol file? Will the same work now?
View 1 RepliesI am having a problem with Flash.I get the message Movie not loaded if I right clich where the video should be.I may have set the hardware acceleration on/off by mistake, but I cannot get the Settings manager to open to check it.I am running Feroda rc14.If I go to http:[url].... and right click in to white area at the top, I get the message 'Movie not loaded' and the flash version - 10.2.159.1. This is where I should be able to open the settings window.Where does Flash store that info on my PC? How can I check it/change it without Settings manager?
View 4 RepliesI've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.
In my application I am accessing a XML file which is in the same location as the fla, yet I have to add my folder location to the Flash Global security settings in order to avoid that infamous Security violation that is thrown. Thats fine in my development environment, however when deployed on a customer's machine they have the same issue. Is there a way programmatically to to trust the xml file and avoid the security violation? NOTE the customer is accessing the swf in 2 ways through a .NET loading mechanism and 2. opening the file location in a web browser (NOT in a we page but opening the swf directly - YES I know this is not recommended - but nevertheless is the customer's preference)
View 2 Repliesi have been developing a game that runs in an on-line version as well as offline. so far everything has been cool, UNTIL! the ID's wanted the ability to make pop-ups in the xml that feeds to htmlText, so that was a little tricky but using TextEvent i was able to turn their links into external interface calls. everything was perfect then i remembered that this thing must be fully functional without any sort of internet connection, SO long story short is there a way to launch/open/prompt the settings manager without intertubez?

I have a Network site license for Adobe CS4 Flash. However, my users Settings KEEP deleting because they are stored in AppDataLocal instead of AppDataRoaming (Windows 7) or Local SettingsApplication Data instead of just Application Data (XP). In a Network, local settings are deleted on logoff.
WHY on EARTH would Adobe Change this? We have been running Adobe Flash (Macromedia before that) for 10 years and we never had issues with MX, Flash 8, Flash 9 or CS3 but in CS4 all the settings move to the ONE folder that deletes on logoff?
The weird thing is that Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4, Fireworks CS4 ALL store their settings in the Application Data folder, not the Local one.

I need my flash movie to have access to the microphone, but it is refusing to display the confirmation dialog and the "Settings" context menu item is disabled. The document size is adequate to display the dialog, though. The catch, though, this is only occurring when the SWF is run in the local player. If I run the SWF in a browser, it asks properly and the settings menu is available.

1) There are two flash files, a menu and a header, in the menu when the page paods the buttons are white and turn orange when you scroll over them. Id simply like them orange when the page loads and then to turn white when you scroll over them. I can figure out how to get the scroll over to white but not the first part to getting the load orange.
2) In the header file there are several pics. Beside the pics there are scroll over buttons. Id like the first button, that says domestic contract, open when the page loads.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to change a Flash animation into a Quicktime movie to post to YouTube, which I've done with a much smaller file, but have had trouble with a larger 2.6M file. When testing Flash movie I get dialog box saying- Content will not stream... Change Runtime Shared Library Library > Advanced ActionScript 3.0 in Publish Settings. So I enter Publish Settings, on Formats I leave Flash and HTML checked. Select center tab for Flash, click on settings for ActionScript 3.0 in scripting box. In Advanced ActionScript Settings dialog at the bottom I've tried changing the Runtime Shared Library drop down to the Merged into Code option but it didn't help. The other option is the Preloader Method, where I think the problem is, but when it is changed form Preloader SWF to custom the Preloader SWF box at the very bottom empties and when the movie is published I get a warning of no Librarys linked and when movie is played int the Quicktime player some of the animations fragment and leave the fragment as remnants.

I need to write a small Flash app that will need to extract a video frame from a playing video. It will not need to be saved to the HDD of the user. I just need to get the image data and display it in the Flash movie. The frame to extract will be chosen by the user, which is why I'd like to do this purely on the client side (though I know I could do it from the server side).

My boss told me to find out if it is possible. So far, I have been doing a lot of searching around on the internet for an answer.
I found this website: [URL], that has some classes for sending email in flash, but #1, I don't know if they work in Mobile apps, and #2, I can't find any instructions or tutorials on how to use the classes to send a simple email.
I downloaded the package from the site and imported into my project, where I am trying to send the code. But without sample code on how to simply send an email, I am not entirely sure what all do, and nor am I sure how to determine things like what port number to construct the SMTPMailer object (the SMTPMailer object is included in that package, and it takes a host string and a port number integer in it's constructor), right now I am trying 80 or 8080 for the port number, and I've tried localhost and one of our server computers, 198.162.1.109 for the host.
Anyway, I keep getting this error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2031: Socket Error.

I use PrintJob class for printing the movieclip. According to the ActionScript online API spec [URL], I can only READ the paper size setting after the call to PrintJob.start. I can't believe that we are not allowed to change the setting.

I have a hexagon map built by specifying width and height. I draw a wireframe and place a base image for each hex into a canvas. Next, the canvas listens for a mouse click. I then run a calculation to determine which hex the mouse click was closest to. My intent is to change the source of the image that the user clicked on.
I know that mapSlate.getChildByName(mapProperties[closestHex]['baseName']) is the intended hex but I can't quite get to the point of doing a .source as Flex doesn't know that the selected object is an image.
I have a comboBox component with a CHANGE event listener on it:

if its possible to change the settings of SCROLLPANE particularly the arrow scroll speed. it scrolls a little bit slow especially if it loads a lot of text.
