I have a comboBox component with a CHANGE event listener on it:

I want to trigger that event programmatically when the comboBox first gets loaded with data. In AS 2, the syntax would be something like "dd_chapter.onChange();". How do I do it in AS 3?

View 2 RepliesI've got this weird problem with Flash in a embed browser in an ASP.NET Windows Application. I've got this Flash Movie that runs in the Windows application and has got a couple of comboboxes. I've added an eventlistener to such a box, but his change event isn't triggerd on some computers. When I click on the combobox it opens up, but when I click on an item in the combobox it closes before he could trigger the change event.
The weird part is that this occurs on some computers, on others it works as it should. And when I load the swf directly in the browser the comboboxes work all the time. So it has something to do with the Windows Application and Flash. All the tested computers have the Flash plugin version 9 and higher (needed for my movie) installed.

I've got a function that regards deep linking. [URL]. They'll be taken to the appropriate part of the site (without having selected Label 2 in the comboBox). How do I set the comboBox programatically, so that it corresponds with what the user it looking at? In my function's switch statement, I want to set the comboBox to the label that corresponds with the view. If "view=2" then the comboBox should show "Label 2" as selected.

As I understand, you cannot pass parameters along to eventhandlers, so I was wondering what is the best way to operate in this case. I've read you can make custom events, but never saw an event passed as a parameter, and was wondering if that's even possible.
I would like to programatically fire an event on a spark checkbox. I have a tab bar which has tabs enabled according to various checkboxes. I am loading data into these tabs. Sometimes tabs 1 and 2 will be enabled. Other times tabs 2 and 3. Other times tab 4 by itself (and all the other combinations). I have tried to enable the VBox (in action script) which is in my view stack but it seems to freeze the application. The VBox enables correctly upon user input on the check box. If I set the checkbox to be selected it does not fire the event and so does not enable the tab.
Is it possible to manually fire an event in Flex. I have tried to see if I can take the checkbox and get the event and fire it. Unfortunately I can only see addEventListener, hasEventLister and removeEventListener. There is no way of getting the events that are already on the checkbox

I use PrintJob class for printing the movieclip. According to the ActionScript online API spec [URL], I can only READ the paper size setting after the call to PrintJob.start. I can't believe that we are not allowed to change the setting.

I have a hexagon map built by specifying width and height. I draw a wireframe and place a base image for each hex into a canvas. Next, the canvas listens for a mouse click. I then run a calculation to determine which hex the mouse click was closest to. My intent is to change the source of the image that the user clicked on.
I know that mapSlate.getChildByName(mapProperties[closestHex]['baseName']) is the intended hex but I can't quite get to the point of doing a .source as Flex doesn't know that the selected object is an image.

So I am trying to essentially have one class dispatch an event into the flow when it is added to the stage, and have another class catch the event, but I'm having problems. I'm using FileReferenceList for selecting the files to be uploaded, but there seems to be a bug in the Chrome Flash Player plugin, when selecting lots of files at once.The uploader must allow up to 300 files to be uploaded, but when selecting more than 232, the FileReferenceList triggers Event.CANCEL instead of Event.SELECT.I've found a bug report for this exact problem here:[url]......
