Oct 5, 2004Is it possible to edit the .mxp-files that you install with the extension manager? The extension I have in mind is an API with some functions that need to be tweaked.

I can edit the first page fine, but when I click the "about us" or any other section, the standard template text, Which isn't even in english, appears. I believe that these are psd files, and I have tried to edit them, saved and replaced file on my computer, but still I get the same unchanged text on this site when I preview.how to edit and replace these files within the flash movie?

I heard you can do a lot of things like this with php. I know NOTHING about php. So is there any way that I can use flash to edit a text file? I remember about using void at the end of declaring a function if your not returning data.

Jul 27, 2009I am planning to do a CD-ROM in either Flash or Flex, possibly using the Adobe AIR runtime.This CD interactive will have a bunch of forms on it for the user to fill out. After they fill in a form, they will have the option of saving or printing a PDF that is based on there information.I am trying to find a way of editing the content of the PDF in Flash, so when the user fills out the form, the application will fill in the PDF with there details from the form fields. Is this is possible?It would be great if there was some way of having template PDFs (either on the CD as there own files, or in a Flash library), then flash could come along and fill in the specific fields inside the PDF.

Mar 24, 2010I've recently taken over the website for the company I work for (has been freelanced outside of the office). The previous webdesigner created a flash menu for the top of the pages, as well as a flash element on one other page. I have no Flash knowledge. On the other page with the flash element here: [URL], in the page content on the right there's the bulleted, numbered links. See how the numbers aren't centered on the button? I'm able to open the fla file & can find the elements & where I need to edit, but no matter what I do I can't get the numbers to center on the button.
I've opened each & selected both the number (which is a text element) & the button & have centered horizontally, made the same width & height, etc., etc. but they're still not centering. Now for the menu bar at the top of the page (can look at same page for reference), I can't figure out how to change the text on some of the buttons. For instance I want to change Home Serves to read Custom Homes. I find the symbols & they appear to be images, so is it safe to assume the previous designer created buttons with the text already on them? Also how do I removed some of the drop down items in the menu bar, specifically under Our Galleries?

Feb 7, 2011A wav or mp3 file will be taped or various. Is there any script to edit these files in batch ie: to Trim the beginnings ie: no sound parts. Or would I have to use a sound editor. As I say I don't want to do it manually. This sounds like a stupid use but it's important as I have children taping themselves and can't use a 3 party product to edit. Perhaps AIR has something in an API.

I want to have 2 types of advertisements: pay per click, and pay per impression/view.Ofcourse there are many php ad managers out there, but how can I display the ads inside of flash? I don't mind if I manage the whole thing in a php page, but at the end, I want the advertisements to be displayed within flash, and ofcourse have all necessary changes made when a user clicks on an Ad (pay per click), or when the Ad is displayed (pay per impression).

Apr 22, 2010I am developing a a game in Flash using the PureMVC framework. From time to time I need to show dialog pop-up window to get a user response back (e.g. "Cancel", "OK" and other kinds of asynchronous user feedback) while "locking" the background for interactivity.
I need some management for my pop-ups: all pop-up notifications should be stacked up, so that if two (or more) pop-up messages are initiated at the same time I show them one by one.
What's the best practice here? Should I employ a proxy to manage my pop-ups (sounds unreasonable). How do I get feedback back from my dialog? using notifications?

Dec 9, 2004I need to make a site 100% in flash but this site has to be update by the client.So my is how to add more pages to the site with a content manager?I read the forums and i understand how to dynamic create more menus without any problem with a CMS using xml, i also know how update a specific part of the site. i mean i can create dynamic text fields and update them with no problem also using xml. Well i can update fields that allready exists on the flahs it self. but in case that my client decide to add a new menu.. it has to redirect to a specific frame where the content of that specific theme is but if it don't exist.

My database stores details of all the files uploaded by a user so I want them to be able to simply choose a location on local disk then download all files they have uploaded to this location.
Are there any good tutorials or source code examples for a simple yet effective AIR download manager developed using Flash CS4. I have come across a Flex based tutorial, so how would I go about using this to develop it in Flash?
Flash Won't Save Cookies + Global Settings Manager Broken
Aug 30, 2009I've had a problem which has been persisting for a long time now - Flash won't save any cookies to my computer. Originally I thought that it was my security settings, and indeed when I went to the global settings manager I clicked the "unlimited" option for data saves and allowed this for all sites. But when I reloaded the page the changes hadn't been saved. No matter how many times I clicked on the options to allow cookies and give unlimited data storage, whenever I came back the settings had reverted to default, as I had found them originally.
And when I went to C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player#SharedObjects/ I found that there were no folders there, for none of the sites that I had visited.
This problem persists on IE, Firefox and Google Chrome. I've shut off all adblockers, all firewalls, all anti-virus software, uninstalled and re-installed Flash twice and still nothing. I'm at my wits end. I'm running Windows on a PC.

So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.
Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?
Extreme Rare Bug: Properties Windows Doesn't Appear - Have To Kill Flash With Task-manager?
Aug 21, 2009I double-clicked on a bitmap-item in the library and instead of opening the properties-windows where you can change compression, import and so on, the focus changed to a random explorer window and flash got "locked". Flash probably thought that it actually opened a new sub-window and waited for it being closed, but there was no such window! Seems like the open-procedure failed and the next window to focus on was just an explorer window. Closing this one didn't get the focus back to flash. What a luck, I could still save the file using ctrl-s but couldn't get back to the application. So I had to kill Flash with the task-manager.

Oct 3, 2010I'm working on a Flash tool that needs to send some data in the form of a flash.utils.ByteArray instance to PHP (amfphp service class) and get that data back from the amfphp service as flash.utils.ByteArray instance. Now I can do all of these with the php_amf extension enabled on the local WAMP server. And the tool works fine. But how can I achieve this without the php_amf extension? I'm deploying on a shared hosting server and I don't have access to the php.ini and also the dl() function of PHP is disabled for security reason. With the extension disabled, I can send the ByteArray instance to PHP and save the data to DB. But the problem arises when I try to retrieve the data from DB, create a ByteArray instance (amfphp helper class) with the data and send back to Flash. I'm guessing here that proper AMF message is not being constructed because of the absence of the php_amf extension.

Problem: When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash".User specifies the filename.File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's [url]...........)
