Windows :: Flex - Adobe Air Start Native Window Hidden?

Feb 16, 2011

How do I open a new window as hidden? (note the visible="false")

<s:Window xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
showStatusBar="false"
resizable="false"
visible="false">

If I declare a window this way, and then call this.open(false);, the window will quickly open and then hide, and then be reshown when I actually display it, I want to do this to be able to load content and fit the window to that size before showing it.

Html :: Handling JavaScript Calls To Window.open()- Not Using Native Windows - Adobe AIR

Jul 26, 2010

I am developing an Adobe AIR application which uses both native windows and floating panels. Is is possible to enable the creation of a floating window instead of a native window when a JavaScript window.open() function is called?

It is required that all of the floating windows are contained within one native window, therefore the creation of more native windows is not suitable.

I have used a Custom HTMLHost class in order to enable the creation of a native window but I can't work out a way of creating a MDI window instead. I am using the flexMDI framework for my floating panel interface.

Flex :: Adobe AIR Application To Receive Back Events From Native Windows Application?

Oct 8, 2010

I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

Flex :: Air Native Window CloseHandler Does Not Work?

Feb 21, 2012

In my Flex (Flash Builder 4) Air application, I have a spark window and have set the close="" event handler (also tried the 'closing' event) to a method that pops up an alert confirming if they want to close the window. This worked fine in my normal browser based app as a TitleWindow, but now that it's an Air app with a native spark window, it's not working. I never see the alert dialog, and if I debug trace, it does in fact go in to my close handler method, but visually I can see the window is already gone from the screen. In an AIR application, how do you add a confirmation dialog for when they click the "x" to close the window?

Flex :: Detect Whether A Window Is Hidden (cmd-h) Vs Closed (cmd-w) - Mac

Feb 4, 2010

I'm developing an AIR application which uses multiple windows. I'm running into an issue where I want to open new windows (toaster notifications for example) when the primary application window is not visible, but the behavior is different depending on how the window is closed.

When a user hides all application windows with CMD-H, opening a new window causes all application windows to come back to the foreground (instead of just that new window, like I would expect). If the user closed a window with CMD-W, however, that window does not become visible when I open a new window.

Is there a way to either 1) tell when the user uses cmd-h to hide all windows OR 2) tell whether a window is hidden using cmd-h vs. closed cmd-w?

Flex :: Running A Java Program With A .dll From Adobe AIR's Native Process

Jun 18, 2010

I would like to be able to operate a scanner from my AIR application. Since there's no support for this natively, I'm trying to use the NativeProcess class to start a jar file that can run the scanner. The Java code is using the JTwain library to operate the scanner. The Java application runs fine by itself, and the AIR application can start and communicate with the Java application. The problem seems to be that any time I attempt to use a function from JTwain (which relies on the JTwain.dll), the application dies IF AIR STARTED IT.[code]

Actionscript 3 :: Air Native Window Active Window Change?

Oct 6, 2011

I have a Adobe Air app (AS3, not Flex) that has 2 windows. When I click away from them onto another desktop program, I get an "Deactivate" Event (as you would expect).When I click on say Window#1 I get an "Activate" Event (as you would expect).But when I go from Window#1 to Window#2, I get nothing. And I believe this is because the Air application is still the active program, Just a Different Window.

But I have the need to know when I go from 1 window to another.The horrible solutions I have come up with so far is to have an onEnterFrame and check if the current window is the active window. But I would much prefer to do it a much better way that such a hack.I have gone though Stage, NativeApplication and Native Window Events and none of them do what I need. Can anyone point me to another Event I may have overlooked?

Windows :: Examples Of Native Apps Using Flash As UI?

Dec 1, 2009

I'm considering using Flash as the UI of a native Windows app, for several reasons, but before I dive in and start building, I figured I'd poll the community to find out whether anyone's got any good examples of this particular approach out there today, just to prove the concept satisfactorily. So I guess that's pretty much the question: Anyone built one specifically? Or better, anyone know of an app in relatively wide distribution that demonstrates the viability of this approach?

ActionScript 3.0 :: AIR- Interacting Native Windows Of An Application?

Apr 9, 2009

1. Is there any way to send events from one native window of an application to another native window of the same application? For ex. a login window pops up when the app starts in the main window. Once the login is successful, an event should be posted to the main window, so that it starts displaying other things. Right now, I am posting an event, but it is not reaching the main window (nothing shows up in trace and breakpoint is not hit in the main window).

2. Is there a way for any window to grab focus? For ex. the login window above grabs the focus till the creds are keyed in. I mean, the user should not be able to select the main window at all till this window is active.

Windows :: Flex - Testing To See If A Window Is Maximized?

Aug 5, 2009

I noticed that in Windows, if you maximize a window you can not resize it until you un-maximized it again. This appears to be a normal behaviour, so I would like to remove my resize gripper when the window is maximised.At the moment I can't find a property to detect if a window is maximized, and although I could add a boolean in my controller, it wouldn't necessarily catch requests to maximize from the OS.So if you know of a reliable way to test if a window is maximized please let me know.On a related note, I am using custom chrome, and when I maximize a window it overlaps the windows task bar. I can think of hacks to detect available screen size (using a transparent system chrome window), but it would be good to know of a better method.

Actionscript :: AIR3 Native Process Will Not Start In Release Build?

Nov 2, 2011

Currently I am building an application that launches crtmpd (a rtmp server written in C++).

Whenever I launch the application from within Flash Builder it works great, if I install a release build from an air file the process.start() returns a generic "could not start process" error.

The crtmpserver.exe is stored in applicationDirectory and the config file is kept in applicationStorageDirectoy.

So I've moved it to the native storage directory. But the problem persists. I've found the following though:

startupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo();
startupInfo.executable = binFile;
processArgs = new Vector.<String>();
processArgs.push(luaFile.nativePath);
startupInfo.arguments = processArgs;

In the IDE after this startupInfo is setup correctly. On client machines all properties of startupInfo are still null.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Closing A Native Window

Jun 30, 2009

I'm trying to add an event listener to a window that pops up (to the whole window) that will close that window when clicked on. Basically it's your typical about window that would be found in any program by hitting help, then about this program. I am using no chrome on it so I'd like to just be able to click it and have it close.

On a less important note I'd like to center the window on the stage when it pops up. Right now I'm just using the x and w properties to get it close to center on my monitor but obviously that won't work for everyone. Below is the code I've tried. No luck whatsoever. Window pops up but stays up if I click it. Any help as always would be AMAZING!

[Code]...
