ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Add Divider Between Horizontal Text?

I have some text fields that are evenly horizontally placed side by side. I have that going good. What's killing me is, I need to put a divider in between the text as well. I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I'm trying to accomplish something like what you see below:

I'm trying to have a minimap display with a draggable viewport below a chart. I essentially have this to control the viewport of the chart:

Problem is, only one divider actually moves at a time. I found that if I set a timeout of about 50ms before moving the next divider that both dividers move. However, this seems like a rather awkward way to approach this and is error prone.
Anyone know if it's possible to move two dividers in a HDividedBox simultaneously or should I be taking another approach?

I'd like to dynamically load thumbnails into a horizontal movieclip at the bottom of an image gallery to then allow me to load an image by clicking the thumbnails. I found a tutorial tooad the thumbnails to the stage but I am not sure how to load them into the thumbs movieclip. Here is the code I am using:

I'm currently learning Flash (CS4, AS3) and am creating a game. I have currently 1 flv file with 4 scenes, I then move from left to right and then to scene 2 and go from left to right. This is the game where items pop up that need to be clicked on and you get points.
Is there any way I can combine these onto 1 scene? Flash only allows you to have a maximum of 2880px wide.The reason for this is the transition between the scenes is RUBBISH and that my AS is not working correctly in between scenes (it loses values).

below is a link to a super simple movie that I have of text scrolling/moving horizontally across the screen.The only issue I have is at the quality of the scroll/movement. it is inconsistently jerky, sometimes when it first starts getting on the screen and leaving the screen sometime all the time and sometimes when it leaves the screen.I have had this issue with other movies and scrolling things across the screen horizontally I had to increase the frame rate to 30 fps and extend the time line but it never really got to be a smooth scroll.

I've created a horizontal dynamic text scroller (like latest news ones found on some websites) in flash 8 with as2, and this swf file reads data from a .txt file. the problem is that when change the txt in the file, it doesnt show in my browser until i clear its cache. But if a client doesnt clear cache he will get the old text...I would like to know how to prevent the browser from caching that swf content, any code or script will be most welcomed. I've tried to add <meta> tags in my html but of no use.

I've got a three year old site in actionscript 2 and something odd happened today.I had to change something in the fla, tested the swf and uploaded it to the server. When I test the swf in flash or just open it manually, all is fine, texts are okay.But whenever it's in a htmlpage (using swfobject or the standard flash method), all the multiline textfields turn from horizontal to vertical expanding text, so a large column of 1 character.Even my backup site acts the same way. It's driving me crazy. And my client.I installed a couple of new browsers a couple of days ago, and I remember I had to update my flashplayer. Maybe this is relevant? I just don't know.

I'm working on a schoolproject and I have a flashapplication that I want on my site. In this image you see a horizontal scrollbar and a vertical scrollbar. In the middle are the photographs, those you'll click in the horizontal scrollbar and they will enlarge (with some text). That's the red arrow. The yellow arrow is the thing I wanted too. When you click a photograph in the horizontal bar en you hold em, you can drag that photograph in the vertical bar and drop it there.

Using the tutorial for the Digital Clock I have created my own date viewer.However, because the text boxes are dynamic, I cannot edit the horizontal spacing of the font.I wish my date to look like the image below but as I cannot edit the horizonatal spacing, I cannot squeeze the letters together.

to make a single-line text box auto-scroll a text string horizontally with a way to detect new words on the x-axis.I'm trying to make a rhythm practice game for ESL students at my college, but I'm a linguistics major, not a programmer.I want something that is similar to the vocal part in Rock Band (minus the pitch, for now)So for a simplified, proof-of-concept version I just need it to detect when a new word has collided with a defined region of say "100 < x < 50".I know how to implement the microphone using activityLevel to detect when the user is speaking into the mic, but just not how to use activityLevel alongside the region detect of the new word in the text box.

Is there a way to manipulate a font's horizontal scaling if it is set as dynamic text?
The text was horizontally scaled in Adobe Illustrator to create a more "sleek" look, but now when putting together the movie in Flash I would still like to keep this look but need dynamic text.
Im asking this in AS 3.0 category, but would like to know it for AS 2.0 as well if there is a way.

I'm trying to create a 'tickertape' (horizontal scrolling text that reloads and loops in a masked window once finished playing). At the moment for visual purposes I have generated the following. This is linking to a movieclip at the moment but doesn't loop once finished... it just keeps incrementally scrolling until it probaby ends up in infinity somewhere...

I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.

I've tried setting up the TextFormat and createTextField as a function that's called on the onRelease handler. I've tried dropping the whole frackin' code in the onRelease function for each button. Neither approach works. I've been digging around on the web, looking for answers, and nothing seems to solve my problem.

I have a code that creates 10 dynamic text fields, along the "y" axis, based on a loop.
What I want to happen is, for each text field that is created, i want the numbers to constantly change based on a timer (they'll all change at the same time, but to random numbers).
Right now, the code below changes the numbers, but keeps stacking the new numbers on top of the old...

I have 3 movieclips on stage (inn0, inn1, inn2), each have a textfield as child. I want to do something like:

building an application where the user makes their own logo/picture. I have a Logo MC, with a bunch of stuff. Here is my problem: I want the user to be able to add an unlimited amount of textboxes to the logo mc, but also be able to go back and edit those text boxes' color, filters, size, text etc. I don't know exactly how to go about doing this. I have a movieclip that is like a text control:It has a textbox to specify text, a colorpicker for color, etc. When a user clicks, "Add new text", I want to add a new text control movie clip to the end of all the others, and also link it to a textbox that is added in the logo. I have figured out how to do my calendar, but when a certain date is clicked on I want to be able to display text. and I want to be able to make it so they can update a text file. This way the customer can enter the date and what they want it to say on an admin page and it will update the text file. the text file will look like this:
date1= some text for this date
date2= some text for this date
date3= some text for this date
and so on.
then when they click on the day of the month it'll display the specified line.but for me to be able to do that I would need to be able to change the actual name of the text box i think.
