After some searching, I found the following at Adobe:[URL].."If the SWF file contains any ActionScript code, Flex prints a warning during compilation and then strips out the ActionScript from the embed symbol. This means that you can only embed the symbol itself."
I also found a work-around by Grant Skinner at:[URL].. I can proceed, but I'm still wondering. Why does mxmlc strip ActionScript from Flash compiled resources when embedding their symbols into Flex apps using metatags?
Css :: Flex 3 Embed Throws "Invalid Embed Directive In Stylesheet' Error On Linux
Mar 9, 2010We have a flex application which compiles fine on windows box using mxmlc ant task but when we try to run the same build scripts on linux, it throws the 'Invalid Embed directive in stylesheet' error indicating it is not able to resolve the path to the image files.
Can someone pls. educate me on if there is a difference in the way the image files are looked up, in a CSS file, on windows vs linux.
Flex sdk version is 3.3. The same sdk is used on both windows and linux. Not sure if this has been fixed by any future 3.x sdks.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Loop In CS5 - Get A Compiling Error Because The Compiler Does Not Recognize It?
May 10, 2010I'm trying to use the for each loop for the project I'm working on but this doesn't seem to work. "for" and "in" are terms recognized by flash (they turn blue when you finish typing them) but "each" does not. And of course I get a compiling error because the compiler does not recognize it. Did adobe change the wording of this loop?

Flash :: Flex And Compiling RSLs Into The SWF And The #2032 Error
Sep 21, 2011I've been working on a SWF that will be converted into a Projector file, no particular great shakes but some fun logic driving some aspects. Written Flex 4.5 it has been a doddle until I test the projector on a new / clean machine and without (v important this) a network connection. What happens is the movie fails with an... Error #2032: Stream Error: URL: file:///C:|/mydirectory/framework_4.5.0.20967.swz
after some research I realise this is an RSL (Runtime Shared Library) that is cached on the local machine (WIN7) under the 'C:Users\AppDataRoamingAdobeFlash PlayerAssetCache<8 Char Path>' along with a host of other RSLs. But in my disconnected state it doesn't work, however, if the machine is connected it does work (by downloading and caching the appropriate libraries from Adobe). Unfortunately I need to deploy this Projector file as a single entity and often into disconnected scenarios. Reviewing Flex's build options I've selected 'Merged into code' for the Framework Linkage that I assumed would create my single, deployable object but alas no.
Flex :: Definition Could Not Be Found Error Compiling ClassReference In CSS File To Swf File?
Feb 17, 2010I am compiling my css files to swf files and loading them at run time. I have no problem compiling these and using ClassReference statements most of the time:

Does not work. The difference is that the HeaderBackground is a class in the same project as the css file. That does compiel fine if I move the style into my mxml file though.
I wonder if the compiler uses different source paths when compiling the css fiels or something. This is in FlashBuilder 4 build 269271 SDK 13963

ActionScript 3.0 :: 2nd Font WONT Embed Keep Getting Error: 1151 A Conflict Exist
May 8, 2010I am trying to embed a font. It is the same font but, different sizes ( I dont know if that matters, one size is 11 the other is 15). I set up my actionscript as so (please see below), but I continue to get this error message: 1151 A conflict exist with definition dtText2 in namespace internal. WHAT I AM DOING WRONG? And do I need another set of code if I am using the same font but instead of size=15; I am using size=11;?

Why is it giving me error 1151 A conflict exist.....? I have tried changeing the name of my var dtText2, and I even instance my dynamic Text, naming it myText2 but I continue to get errors.

Actionscript 3 :: Font Embed Causes Positioning Error With Chalet Font
Dec 1, 2009I'm trying to embed the Chalet font to some dynamic text fields and it is causing the vertical position of the text to jump up above the actual textfield. (see screenshot) Is Chalet a messed up font? (or more likely, Flash is sooo screwed up in handling fonts) This font displays absolutely fine in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Compiling .as To SWF
Nov 10, 2009I needed to translate a SWF file, and used SWF Quicker to decompile the swf file.Now I want to re-compile it, with the changes made. How can I do that?When I try to "Publish" or "Export" the file with the same program, the new file is only with about 250 bytes, and the previous one had about 450 KB.

Feb 10, 2012Making a piano/keyboard application and trying to figure out the best way to set this up .I plan on having a directory of sounds for each 'instrument' in my assets folder (piano1/C4.mp3,piano1/D4.mpg,...)Is there a way to import/embed all of these as an array? Also is there a way I can pass a variable to this class to indicate which folder I want to import these from? Something that would be ideal

Css In Flex Without Compiling?
Jun 9, 2009I added an external stylesheet file (css) to my flex project. Is there a possibility that the css is not compiled with the swf? It would be great if I could put the swf on my webspace and afterwards only change a css file to customize my application and fit it to the colors of my homepage.

But there is no change in the appearance of the Text whatsoever.. I need the text to be crisp and clear.Just like the way it looks when we embed the fonts using the Embed... Button in the Flash IDE.

1. I create a new FLA file and drag FLPlayback 2.5 from Components panel to the stage
2. Then I'm setting it up using the simple expample from Adobe LiveDocs: [URL]
3. But when I'm compiling SWF file I'm getting 13 errors referencing classes VideoPlayer and UIManager, such as:

Flash :: CS4 Crashing When Compiling?
Sep 5, 2011Since I purchased flash CS4 (upgrading from flash 8), I have gradually shifted from writing code in AS2 to AS3. Now all of my projects are in AS3 except 1, it's an old legacy project written in such a way that conversion would be almost impossible. Earlier today I started to work on it and then tried to compile it causing flash to crash. After about an hour I realised that whenever I compile an AS2 project flash crashed. After trying to download patches, restarting countless times and searching the internet for similar bugs, I uninstalled and reinstalled flash. But to no avail, the bug persisted. So I decided to create an acount and post about the bug I encountered on this form, hoping that somone might know about it.

It would be a lot simpler for me to code up my next project in flash as opposed to objective c and cocos2d.
