I've been using Flash for 10 years and I've never seen this problem with images after publishing. I've also worked with graphics for many years, but I can't seem to figure out what could be causing this problem with Flash compling this image.
The image is RGB, the image displays properly when opened in other applications on my computer, it also displays properly in the Flash library and on the stage. I've imported it as PNG and JPG, but neither of them work. The other graphics in my fla file look fine. When I publish/compile the Flash file, all the colors are messed up - you can barely make out the graphic, it looks all digitzed and pixelated, with major color distortions. I've tried adjusting the publish jpg quality, but that doesn't help. I'm convinced this is a bug in Flash, since I have the same problem when I publish on the laptop and on my desktop, but I'm not sure.
I picked up enough AS3 recently to create some advertising banners and they work perfectly when I test the movie within CS3 by using ctrl+enter. I uploaded the created swf on the website and experienced lots of weird problems like child mcs stopping to play after a while or movies not playing till the end etc.. On some movies, they will play properly if you reload the website, on some others (the one which doesnt play till the end) that wont fix the problem either. The banners' filesizes are also around 8KB for example and include only text and vectors.
I published my movie by letting Flash create an html file, and the exact same problems are occurring there aswell. I mean I got strict mode and everything turned on in Flash but I'm not getting any errors at all when testing the movie. I also dont see any visual errors. It's just the swf acting differently in a browser.
So I'm trying to figure out what the difference between the flashplayer used by CS3 and the one in firefox is for example. I got the latest flashplayer (10 r22) on firefox and it seems that CS3 is using the flashplayer 9 (I'm not sure about this but its the player I found in the CS3 folder).I'm using timeline based tweens (I know it sucks and I did this mostly on the first banners I created and started using the tween classes built in Flash later on when I learned more AS3) so wondering if this is the problem.
I'd like install flashplayer on my gentoo linux, but when i
extract the .tar.gz >>
localhost ~ # tar -zxvf install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
install_flash_player_9_linux/
[code].....
I have flash cs5 and when I publish to ios I get:
Adobe Flash CS5-----Error creating files.Error occurred during initialization of VMCould not reserve enough space for object heapCould not create the Java virtual machine.
I'm building out a Flash / Flex viewer and I'm looking for a tool / software that will recompile several to many SWFs into one SWF file. I have an XML file and would like to load that into a compiler that would compile the SWFs into a single file.
View 7 RepliesWhen my animations are playing in the flashplayer and you rightclick and uncheck the play command only the animations in the main timeline stop playing. All the child animations continue to play. How do I make it so they all will stop playing when play is unchecked?
Is there a event listener that monitors if the movie has been stopped?
I have to build a series of information kiosks and I was considering using flash technology. However, the Adobe license prohibits redistributing the flashplayer with embedded projects. Does anyone had experience with Adobe with similar projects?
View 1 RepliesI am wanting to try some of the new features of Flash Player 10.2 in flash. When I go to import some of the new classes they do not work.
How can I set Flash up to use the new features of the current SDK?
I recently upgraded to flashplayer 11 and found that it made all the text on my buttons and dynamic text fields disappear. I noticed that you can see it when it first load and then vanishes. I can't find any documentation on this. Does anyone know how to fix?
View 2 RepliesI have apps in flash8 AS2 and flash10 AS3. When I open the AS2 apps in flash CS4 they don't work. This is a massive problem as I put them in a visual basic app with the flash 10 ocx. So the damn thing doesn't open them properly. I thought these things were backward compatible.
View 6 RepliesSo I run into this issue that Enhanced Seeking is enabled by default. And I would really like to disable it (long story here). But it seems you can only disable it on the FMS, by adding this setting to the application.xml. But the thing is we are not sure if we will end up using an FMS or not. So, can I disable Enhanced Seeking without using FMS?

according to release notes in flashplayer 10.2 you can do fullscreen on multiple monitors. how can i trigger this behaviour?
View 1 RepliesI use a Web-Browser control on my Delphi application. the Web-Browser control should navigates some HTML pages that contains Flash(SWF) files. It is often OK and there is no problem, But sometimes i get this error when my app is running.

I've written a videoplayer for Android based on Flash (10.2) which plays videostreams. In some cases (*), the player begins to buffer for quite some time. Now, while the player is acually playing the stream, Flash (somehow) signals the OS to prevent entering the sleep-mode. But while buffering, this is not the case and the phone will eventually enter sleep mode before the stream has restarted. So the user has to unlock the phone again - not very convenient. Is there a way to set a signal with Flash/AS3 to prevent the Andoid-phone to go into sleep mode? (*) mostly over the mobile network when the network access performes a handover between 3G and 2G or vice versa
View 1 RepliesDoes anyone know of a flash projector 'project' or 'framework' that uses a new flashPlayer for each window? We've used mProjector, which works well to a point, but I'm very disappointed in the fileIO patterns they use. It is very buggy with regard to reading and writing files.
mdm zinc uses multiple windows, but it is all sits on one flashPlayer 'session'. The same applies for AIR. It is great, but there isn't a way to make each window run on a seperate flashPlayer... extreme number crunching on one window will lock up all other windows.
edit - Just to clarify my needs (since I'm adding a little bounty), the app is an ERP application, built on Flex 3.x, and the size and scope of the project == huge.
tl;dr -- I need an exe wrapper (for windows), similar to AIR, that can have multiple windows, running each window on a seperate flashPlayer instance, and when a window is closed, it blows-away that flashPlayer instance / stage / etc.
Since I purchased flash CS4 (upgrading from flash 8), I have gradually shifted from writing code in AS2 to AS3. Now all of my projects are in AS3 except 1, it's an old legacy project written in such a way that conversion would be almost impossible. Earlier today I started to work on it and then tried to compile it causing flash to crash. After about an hour I realised that whenever I compile an AS2 project flash crashed. After trying to download patches, restarting countless times and searching the internet for similar bugs, I uninstalled and reinstalled flash. But to no avail, the bug persisted. So I decided to create an acount and post about the bug I encountered on this form, hoping that somone might know about it.
View 3 RepliesI use the facebook class [URL] in my project. When I compile my project (Air 2.0) with the facebook class it takes longer than one minute to compile. What would I do to make compiling faster? Compiling in Flash Builder seems much faster than in Flash CS5.
View 6 RepliesIs its currently possible to publish a Flash App to iPad? I see Flash CS5 has the ability to publish to iPhone/iPad - is Apple supporting this and will be able to be sold in the App store. It would be a lot simpler for me to code up my next project in flash as opposed to objective c and cocos2d.
View 1 RepliesI am a as3 programmer trying to make a iphone aplication with Adobe cs5. for some reason flash doesnt want to recognise any of my code..
if i put a trace like.. "trace("wtf");" on the first frame it doesnt work.
Anyone knows why flash doesnt compile my code? gr, Apollo
"Edit": Adobe Air 2.0 doesnt work either, iphone is Air aswell but diffrent publishing ofc.
Hopefully this is a straight forward question but as far as resources when compiling a flash project is flash more cpu dependent or gpu dependent? Trying to spec out a machine and need to determine what flash is going to use more.
View 1 RepliesIs there any way to use incremental compiling? I seem to have added alot of bitmap graphics to my library and I think I may have added to much over time and dind't notice how badly it was affecting my compile time. In my next project, i'll definately be doing bitmap graphics last. But is there a way for me to do incremental compiling in flash cs 5.5 authoring tool?[code]....
View 2 RepliesI am facing a problem as Duplicate variable definition while compiling but it is not at all effecting my program.
Is there any way to remove compiler errors beacause it is coming every time when i run movie.
I have a large Flash presentation consisting of 12 slides. When exporting or previewing the movie all of the tweens appear corrupted. They flicker on the first keyframe - go blank - then display the last keyframe all static. I'm using CS3 on a MacBook Pro 2.4GHZ with 2GB of Ram. I have a dual boot setup and the same thing happens in both OS X and Windows XP. I've found a laborious work around in that if I go into each movieclip, and nested movieclip, move the timeline slider then re-export... that particular tween will then animate correctly. I can go through the entire file and thereby export the SWF with animations in tact... But this takes a lot of time and every time I restart my machine it has to be done again from scratch to export the file.... This has happened before on a large Flash file and I reinstalled Flash from scratch and it didn't fix it.
I'm wondering if this could potentially be a bug relating to how much RAM I have? I sent the file to someone who has 4GB of RAM on their PC and it exports correctly. I will be doing a lot of presentations of this nature and would like to know if there is a way to fix this bug or if it is really related to how much RAM you have and how big the Flash file is??
I am trying to run this AS code from wonderfl.net: [URL] I have downloaded the right files to ensure this works:

Might the errors be because the code is for Flash Player 11? As I am running Flash CS4, when I go to Publish settings, the highest flash player I can use is 10, so I can't choose 11. If anyone has time to take a peek, I have put the code together here, which contains the FLA, AS file, and the include libraries I mention above:

I have an weird issue with a fla file. I've worked on a big project for a long time ago. I use cs4 to compile the fla and Flash Develop for the classes. Yesterday I compiled many times and suddenly CS3 stopped executing actionscript. There is no compile errors, nothing. Just doesn't execute the code. I typed a simple trace in the first frame and deleted the symbols on the stage - it didn't trace nothing. When trying to compile this file I noticed that the size of the compiled swf cut down in the end of compiling - in decreases from 700KB to 300KB. I made a size report - it is strange that action script bytes is only 6, but I have many (about 100) classes:
ActionScript Bytes: 6
Location: ActionScript 3.0 Classes
It doesn't run any action script no matter whether it is in classes or directly in timeline frames.
The problem is not with CS3 because it compiles perfect other flash files. Do you have ideas why it happens? I've never seen such problem before?
We recognized that some older flash projects are compiling well in the old CS4 Flash but fail in CS5 (same player verison). Is there any list of things that has changed for compiling in CS5?
View 3 RepliesAre custom functions that are defined at the "default" package level (aka Top Level) included in a compiled SWC? Or are they ignored?
//Compiled, or not to be compiled in a SWC - that is the question...

Anyone experienced problems with this?
I've been working on a SWF that will be converted into a Projector file, no particular great shakes but some fun logic driving some aspects. Written Flex 4.5 it has been a doddle until I test the projector on a new / clean machine and without (v important this) a network connection. What happens is the movie fails with an... Error #2032: Stream Error: URL: file:///C:|/mydirectory/framework_4.5.0.20967.swz
after some research I realise this is an RSL (Runtime Shared Library) that is cached on the local machine (WIN7) under the 'C:Users\AppDataRoamingAdobeFlash PlayerAssetCache<8 Char Path>' along with a host of other RSLs. But in my disconnected state it doesn't work, however, if the machine is connected it does work (by downloading and caching the appropriate libraries from Adobe). Unfortunately I need to deploy this Projector file as a single entity and often into disconnected scenarios. Reviewing Flex's build options I've selected 'Merged into code' for the Framework Linkage that I assumed would create my single, deployable object but alas no.
I have a tiny actionscript "project" consisting of two files, call them foo.as and bar.as. For reasons I won't go into, I really really want to build the .SWF from the command line, without setting up a formal project of any kind. Every compiler I've ever used lets you do this, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to coerce MXMLC into compiling these two files and linking them into a SWF.
Naively, I try
MXMLC foo.as bar.as
but I'm informed that only one source file is allowed.supposing I compiled these two files separately, how would I link them together to get the final SWF?
NOTE: The only reason I have two files instead of one is the requirement of only one class per file. I tried putting both classes in one file and making one of the classes "private" or "internal" but neither of these ideas worked. I would be ecstatic to find out I can put more than one class in a file (with only one being public).
