ActionScript 3.0 :: Error Returning PHP Variables?

Aug 10, 2009

I'm having a problem getting my Flash project to receive a variable from a PHP file. I'm sure that the PHP file is receiving the data from flash, but nothing is returned. I have tried every method possible almost, and I still get nothing. It's been several days that I've been troubleshooting, and it's getting frustrating. I've googled for hours and done a pretty thorough actionscript.org search, but to no avail.Basic breakdown:I have a button that submits the score from a game, and then tells the user whether or not they have earned a high score. Flash uses URLVariables to tell the PHP the score, action (submit in this case) and the game the user is playing. PHP then returns a value for the variable '$status'. However, I can not seem to access this at all from flash.When I test the movie in flash, it generates this error:

ActionScript Code:
Error opening URL 'http://www.[domainNameOmitted].com/games/highscores.php?action=submit&status=&score=100&game=trivia'

ActionScript 3.0 :: Returning Variables From mouse Event Function?

Sep 19, 2008

I am working with code where the variable "k" is a counter. I stripped out the extraneous stuff from the code below - so essentially when the function onExamPlusClick is called, the counter "k" and the minutes of an activity in an array both increment (as well as other things not shown). I'd like to return "k" as well as "activity[0].minutes" to the main program. Since the function is a MouseEvent, I'm unable to change "void" to "number"... and not sure how to return (pass) those variables back to the ain program.

Actionscript 3 :: Error Returning Value From Switch Case?

Jan 19, 2011

after coding a custom event in AS3, i've come across a curious problem:

override public function toString():String
{
switch (type)

[Code].....

i can remedy the problem easily by adding return null; at the end of the function, but that's redundant and it annoys me that it seems to be the only solution.

why is returning a value from a switch case not seen by the compiler? is this an issue specific to the AS3 compiler or am i actually attempting something here that is so completely dangerous and adverse that it shadows counterculturists the world over.

DJango :: 500 Error When Returning Object To Flex

Oct 31, 2011

I'm able to return django models that have only CharFields/Dates/Integers, but now I'm trying to return models that have ForeignKey properties and I'm getting this error in Flex in my NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS onError event handler:
m_info Object (@16491fe9)
code "NetConnection.Call.Failed"
description "HTTP: Status 500"
details "[URL]"
level "error"

Here are the models that matter in models.py:
class RewardActBase(models.Model):
user = models.ForeignKey(User)
start_date = models.DateTimeField(blank=True, null=True)
progress_value = models.IntegerField(default=0)
[Code] .....

Then when I want to get retrieve these object via pyamf, this is the method I'm using, which is giving me the error I listed above.:
@login_required
def get_challenge_act(http_request, location_id):
user = http_request.user
c = ChallengeAct();
[Code] .....

The interesting thing is that if I change my get_challenge_act method to return a property of the ChallengeAct object, I don't get the error. So I can return properties or objects that belong to the ChallengeAct, but not the ChallengeAct itself. For example, the following code returns a Challenge object with no errors:
return c.challenge
So it appears that there is some problem returning a Django model with foreginkey models as properties?

PHP :: ZendAMF Returning Invalid XML And Causing Bad Version Error

Sep 1, 2010

I am trying to use ZendAMF to do remote method calls to a MySQL database from Flash and I keep recieving the NetConnection.Call.BadVersion error.
My Server is working correctly. Apache 2.2.14
My PHP is working correctly. PHP 5.2.11
My Database is working. MySQL 5.0

My first problem was a security error in Flash. If you try to run a local SWF from the Flash IDE to a web service online, you'll get a security warning which will throw the BadVersion error. However, the security error won't show up if you 'TEST MOVIE' so it took me a while to realize that. I changed my testing process to remove this variable. I am now able to implement my php class code successfully using AMFPHP, which essentially rules out my class as the issue (I think). It seems to be a problem with the Zend implemntation of AMF.

I have followed a tutorial from Lee Brimlow here: [URL]. I was unable to get this to work locally, and I've moved my content onto a web server and can call the Class and Method from my SWF. I've used Charles to view the response. When I go to validate the response in Charles I get this:
Validator: Failed to Parse XML Document.
Reason: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x0) was found in the CDATA section.
Line: 65 Column: 87
Can it be handled in PHP?

Here is my ZendAMF code:
<?php
error_reporting(E_ALL|E_STRICT);
ini_set("display_errors", "on");
ini_set("include_path", "./frameworks");
require_once 'Zend/Amf/Server.php';
require_once 'Animal.php';

ActionScript 2.0 :: XML Image Load Returning NaN% Error In Firefox But Not IE

Feb 20, 2009

Whenever a picture is supposed to load it shows a NaN% ( not a number ) I'm guessing something is wrong with my loader scripting. The pictures still load but there is no bar so when A client loads the large high res version they have no idea if its loading and the blow up effect I have just shrinks to 0.0 on the screen. I've been up all night

Code:

btnx.enabled = true;
btnx._visible = true;
btnx.useHandCursor = false;

[Code].....

The weirdest thing is that it loads perfectly in Internet Explorer which is horrible, I need it to work in Firefox.

Javascript :: Returning A Byte String To ExternalInterface.call Throws An Error?

Jan 21, 2010

I am working on my open source project Downloadify, and up until now it simply handles returning Strings in response to ExternalInterface.call commands.

I am trying to put together a test case using JSZip and Downloadify together, the end result being that a Zip file is created dynamically in the browser, then saved to the disk using FileReference.save. However, this is my problem:

The JSZip library can return either a base64 encoded string of the Zip, or the raw byte string. The problem is, if I return that byte string in response to the ExternalInterface.call command, I get this error:

Error #1085: The element type "string" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</string>"

ActionScript 3:

var theData:* = ExternalInterface.call('Downloadify.getTextForSave',queue_name);

Where queue_name is just a string used to identify the correct instance in JS.

JavaScript:

var zip = new JSZip();
zip.add("test.txt", "Hello world!
");
var content = zip.generate(true);
return content;

If I instead return a normal string instead of the byte string, the call works correctly.I would like to avoid using base64 as I would have to include a base64 decoder in my swf which will increase its size.

Finally: I am not looking for a AS3 Zip generator. It is imperative to my project to have that part run in JavaScript

ActionScript 3.0 :: Error #2101 While Trying To Retrieve Variables From A PHP

Jan 31, 2010

I'm trying to do a usual reading of variables from a PHP file, and I'm getting error 2101: The String passed to URLVariables.decode() must be a URL-encoded query string containing name/value pairs.I have tried to open the remote .php file in my browser, and the output is perfect. The variables are all in the format variable1=value1&variable2=value2, etc. And yes, I know about the thing with the initial '&' character and have removed it, to no avail.

Now, I have COPIED the exact text that the PHP outputs from my browser, and I've PASTED it into a .txt file. Then I uploaded the .txt file to my server. Then I changed the route in the URLRequest object from "...myfile.php" to "...myfile.txt". it works perfectly.So... what could be the difference between the text that the .php file prints vs the text that the .txt file prints, for flash to NOT read it?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Error While Retrieving Flash URL Variables

Sep 8, 2008

I am working on a flash movie for a client and I have not used flash much before at all. I have the object/embed code here below with the following src path sos.swf?wID=5. I need that wID so when I load certain variables from a php page later on in the movie I can access that persons information (wID correspons to the primary table key).

HTML Code:
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="[URL]" WIDTH="383" HEIGHT="180" id="myMovieName">
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="sos.swf?wID=5">
<PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF>
[Code] .....

I have tried several things and I am not sure just how to access the flash URL variables. To make sure I am putting the action script in the right place I have only one layer, and when I click on that, I enter the actionscript in the actionscript window for that layer. Is that the correct place to put it? I am pretty sure it is but I just want to double check. The variables.text at the bottom are my dynamic text boxes that are displaying information from the sos.php file. Nothing is showing up in my movie and I am unaware of good debugging techniques for actionscript. I have tried to trace(widgetID); but nothing shows up in my movie. I am not sure if that is because of the image I have on the screen or what.

By the way here is the part in my php script that sends the variables over. They do have data in them but nothing is being displayed in the dynamic text boxes.
PHP Code:
$vars = "&firstname=".$name."&years=".$totalYears."&months=".$totalMonths."&days=".$totalDays."&minutes=".$totalMinutes."&meals=".$var_meals."&meetings=".$var_meetings."&movies=".$var_movies;echo $vars;
