I need to save some settings files before the application closes. What event should I listen on? I have tried to listen to Event.EXITING but from the code below I only see "exit" in the output window like 1 out of 5 times. It is thus not working

I would like to know the correct way to close an AIR application programmatically. In my Spark WindowedApplication I have:this.addEventListener( Event.CLOSING, shutdownApp );and of course an implementation of the shutdownApp method (which basically tidies up temporary files).his works fine for the top-right close button of the window. However I also have functionality which needs to shutdown the application. Within the code I have called:NativeApplication.nativeApplication.exit();However this doesn't trigger the Event.CLOSING method, and so my temporary files are not cleared up. Should I not be calling nativeApplication.exit ? If so, what should I call instead? I'd rather not have to call my shutdownApp method before the NativeApplication.exit() as this doesn't feel quite so elegant.

And when the "video" has finished playing, go to frame 5 and continue playing. I tried to use the onClipEvent but could not find anything to deal with the streaming video close.

The only way I have found so far to capture the browser window close event from actionscript/flash is actually to capture the event in javascript, and then use a javascript/flash data passing from the javascript callback.
Something around those lines:

In my codes, i have a button called close button added to the titleBar. when i try to do the mouse over/out event listener for titleBar and close button, only the titleBar would react. It seems that the event listeners for titleBar are overriding the button event listeners. (Basically i want to change the mouse cursor icon when targeting the title bar and then different mouse cursor icon when targeting the close button)

View 6 RepliesI have code in a flex component that I want to listen for an event, the source of the event is a custom class that's being run by another class that's being run by another class etc etc. I was under the impression that an event would pass throughout the whole application, so I was hoping if I dispatched the custom event in the class like so..

the event gets fired basically when the executeBatch is finished, and the finishEvent is being called, but I'm the listener isn't getting anything. I tried setting it to db.addEventListener, but that had now effect.

I have a TextArea that I don't ever want to be scrolled. When scrolling within the application that holds this TextArea, however, the scrolling stops as soon as the mouse ends up over the TextArea.
Is there any way to pass the scroll event to the application, or tell the TextArea to not claim the event?
In my flex application I have several pop ups, when a pop up is opened the application is disabled and enabled back when the pop up is closed.Is there way to get application's enabled / disabled event and perform some activity like hiding a display object.I know, I can get open and close event of the pop up but I don't want to write it for all the pop ups and pay for maintainability.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to get some code working from an example I came across. most of the functionality works but it is failing when it tries to dispatch a custom event. At the moment the code that is trying to dispatch the event is inside a class that handles amf remoting.the example has this line in it for the dispatch:

I am new to flex framework.I have created an application using flex framework 4.1 which is having various components that are shown to the end user in the form of a popup window using <mx:TitleWindow>.This titlewindow is closed either on the click of the close button (displayed in it's titlebar) or by pressing the "escape key" on the keyboard.I coded a functionality wherein I close the current TitleWindow whenever an 'escape' button is pressed.Here is what I did.On the keydown event of TitleWindow I called this function.[code]I had to repeat this code for every TitleWindow that I have used in the project.How can I write the above functionality only once and reuse it amongst various TitleWindow and other components so that the code for the same is not repeated across various components? I am making a Flash puzzle game. When the user loads the game, it needs to ask whether to resume the game from the last state (if it exists). I have a serializati system in place, but I need to ensure that the loaded state is definitely the last state.One solution is to save the state to a SharedObject every time the state changes (when the player makes a move). However, the game state sometimes includes a countdown, so I'd have to be constantly (or periodically) saving the state in order to retain it. I guess this is acceptable, but it seems kludgey.Is there any event which is fired when the swf is closed? Or anyone else have another elegant solution to this?
