My problems comes in when you have to open a different image album and have to eliminate all the previously loaded children in the movieclip. When i load a new album i used a code you posted here: AS3 How to remove previous loadersbut the problem is that sometimes the user leaves the album page before ALL the pics laod so when they click on a new album to open it a new image is placed somewhere else cause the loader has already been launched. I've tryd to close() the loader but it doesn't seem to work.Here you can see the working site to see what im talking abouy you have to click on an album, leave before all the pictures load and open up another one.
getImage(dataList[0].file)
function getImage(href:String):void {
var loader:Loader = new Loader();

is there a way to detect the close event on the Local Storage Settings Panel of the Flash Player?
[Code]..
I want to catch the close event of the flash movie. What would I do to do something when the flash window is closed?
View 1 RepliesThe only way I have found so far to capture the browser window close event from actionscript/flash is actually to capture the event in javascript, and then use a javascript/flash data passing from the javascript callback.
Something around those lines:
window.onbeforeunload = clean_up;
function clean_up()
{
var flex = document.${application} || window.${application};

I did a file/import/video and pointed to a video on my server and this is all on the first frame. On my aa layer I have the following[code]...
As you can see, when the video finishes, it hops to frame 2 and continues to the website. What started happening on a few occasions, is the timeline would randomly jump back to frame 2 for no apparent reason. I'm assuming it's because I didn't remove the instance of the video, or something along those lines? This whole issue on;y started when I introduced the video.
In my flash movie I have a function that loads external swf's movies based on the file name passed. Here is an example[code]...
View 2 Repliesif we open lot of popup during browsing(web) or in an AIR application, how remove them at once?
View 2 Repliesi successfully managed to work out the loader script, and load a external swf file into my current project. Now that its working and all is well, i realised that only way to get back to 'main menu' was to close the whole thing. I tried to sort it out with a simple 'back' button but no success there. As mentioned in the title thats the options i found so far but cant seem to quite understand them tbh. I just want it to work so that I easily can manouvre back to 'main menu'.

This is the code i used in a gallery that loads images sequentally. I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
View 3 RepliesI have a flash file of about 400 frames. Frame 5 - 300 is done by previous person. I am to "add" a video FLV progressive streaming file from frame 301 onwards. And when the "video" has finished playing, go to frame 5 and continue playing. I tried to use the onClipEvent but could not find anything to deal with the streaming video close.
View 2 RepliesI need to save some settings files before the application closes. What event should I listen on? I have tried to listen to Event.EXITING but from the code below I only see "exit" in the output window like 1 out of 5 times. It is thus not working

how can i detect swf close event in ActionScript 3. I need to perform some action while swf close event.
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to access the type of object being interacted with so I can create a new instance of the same object? So for example in the code below I have the movieclip myItem. After it's clicked it is removed from stage and then moved to the inventory. When I click on it there, is it possible to create a new instance of mcItemToDuplicate using the event information parameters? (while allowing myItem to be where it is).
My code looks something like this:
public function moveclip() {
var myItem:mcItemToDuplicate = new mcItemToDuplicate();
stage.addChild(myItem);

Why the Close Event is not dispatched after I disconnect my wifi connection? Or any way to determine if the connection is active.
View 2 RepliesIs their a way to check if an event listener already exists to remove it? stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickdownfunction); Basically, I want to remove the listener, but sometimes it has already been removed, so I want to check if it exists and if it does, then remove it.
View 4 RepliesI import a external SWF into a UILoader, the SWF contains a netStream that I need to close from a Main.swf event handler, slideShow_btn. Basically from Main.swf when/if slideShow_btn event happens I need to check and close the nsStream in videoplayer.swf Here are my event handlers in Main.swf

I am trying to capture the event; which is invoked when we close the AIR window by clicking its Close button (on the top-right corner). I have tried the following; but none of them seems invoked:

Im having some trouble getting the syntax right. I have a movie clip that adds sounds to an array when it is touching other movie clips. I have a stop button than i want to remove the event listener of the bar and send back to the original position. My code is:

Say I create a movieclip which acts like a button, meaning that it has an over state, out state etc. I then create five instance of this movieclip and give each one an instance name e.g. b1, b2, b3, b4 and b5. Is there anyway of removing the states actions of say b1 without having to create a new button just for this? I was hoping there was something like b1.turnOffEffects = true (In my dreams, lol).
View 1 RepliesI have 10 thumbnails loaded using a for loop through XML. Each thumbnail is clickable and have an event listener attached. [code]...
My problem is that the images are stacking on top of each other, and never being removed.
Ideally I what to removeChild(); to the previous child added when the showPicture function runs. But I have no idea how to achieve this.
removing object instance from memory.I have created a class that move objects(movie clip) on stage. and on fram 1 i created 100 instances of this class using loop. now when user click on movie clip it should be remove from stage as well as from memory. using removeChild() it is removed from stage but it is not removed from memory. for testing i use initialy only one instance to check my code and when click it is removed from stage but not from memory. here is the code
// this code is on frame 1
function move()
{

i used delete and assigning null and GC but nothing works. any one who knows how to remove the object instance from memory I applied every thing but object instance is still in memory (because there is a trace in fall class which continuously running and i guess the object still exist in memory)
I'm creating a highscore list like this:

I am loading an SWF file into another parent SWF. I remove the loaded SWF using the unloadAndStop() method and set the loader to null. But the instance of the loaded SWF still remains there in the memory.
View 2 RepliesI am using a loop to add 10 shapes to the stage, then i just want to click on one at a time, in any random order and make it alpha 0, im using this code.. it gets rid of some shapes but not all. i dont get it?
Code:
var shape:MovieClip;
for (var i:Number = 0; i < 10; i++)
{

im trying to grab the instance name of something on stage, set it to a variable then remove it.
iv tried:
Actionscript Code:
var something = object1something.removeMovieClip();
that works. problem is im setting variables at runtime depending on a user click.tried this too..
Actionscript Code:
var myvar;object1.onRelease = function() {myvar = this._name;}
tracing this out reveals that it is actually _level0.object1.also tried adding the string "_level0." + object1. still dosen' work.what im trying to do is click on objects. store there instance names into an array then remove them all when i do something else. such as press space.
I am making a Flash puzzle game. When the user loads the game, it needs to ask whether to resume the game from the last state (if it exists). I have a serializati system in place, but I need to ensure that the loaded state is definitely the last state.One solution is to save the state to a SharedObject every time the state changes (when the player makes a move). However, the game state sometimes includes a countdown, so I'd have to be constantly (or periodically) saving the state in order to retain it. I guess this is acceptable, but it seems kludgey.Is there any event which is fired when the swf is closed? Or anyone else have another elegant solution to this?
View 3 Repliesi want to close browser by clicking on close button embedded swf. I have tried fscommand("quit"), but which is not working on browser.
View 9 RepliesI'm writing a video game and I have used timers all over the place to make everything go. Now I want to be able to pause the game, completely. Meaning, I need to stop and start all timer instances at once, or globally. So I created a Timer subclass called CustomTimer, put some statics in there, came up with the attached code. Now my problem is that I'm pretty sure I've created a memory leak, in that the instances array will just grow and wont allow or gc. So, my question is, is there an "onDestroy()" method or somesuch, that I can override, and use that moment to remove instance refs from the instances array? Or, is there a smarter way to do this? an application object with a pause method perhaps?
