ActionScript 3.0 :: Find Link URL In Nested SWFs?

I have a "wrapper swf" that loads a remote flash player that in turn loads video preroll ads from various advertisers.
So my wrapper is the parent and the remote swf is a child and the video ad is a grandchild.
I am looking to capture the url that the grandchild will navigate to when clicked.
I am trying to trace it in the parent (wrapper) mouseUP and mouseDOwn event.
Is there a way to traverse ALL children until I get to the "bottom/last loaded" swf and get the URL?
I wish to save the url to a variable so I can launch the url in another player of my own as opposed to having it launch an external IE browser.

Whats the simplest way to get a nested swf to modify the value of a variable located in the parent's swf? I'm not sure localConnection is what I need.
Here is a simplified example of my situation:
main.swf
content01.swf
content02.swf
main.swf loads and unloads content SWFs ontop of it's stage.
A piece of script in each content.swf needs to modify the _hieght of a movieclip in main.swf
(imagine the movieclip is a visual container for content, and content that takes up for space needs a taller content box; hence, changing the _height of the movieclip content box)
I'm also animating the movieclip's height expanding using actionscript:

I figured I could put these lines of code on the first frame of the content.swfs, but change them to affect the "Box_Body" MC on the main.swf stage?

I am using a flipbook that I purchased on activeden. It loads swf files as pages. If have one video on page 1 (page1.swf) and one video on page 2 (page2.swf). Both pages are on the same spread. I want the video on page 2 to start after the video on page 1 has finished. So on page 2 I want to listen for a .complete from the video on page one. This is the code that I am using to load the video on page 1 where I need to listen for the .complete.

Background: I have a class called MultipleChoiceQuestion which pulls the stem and choices from an xml file. The choices for each question are randomized. The Quiz class has a set of specified multiple choice questions which it loads dynamically. It also references the xml file to determine # of questions. The quiz controls the question progression based on correct answers. The main movie launches the quiz at the appropriate time.
Issue I want the question building to be dynamic and load the choices and randomize them. How do I do this? Right now I publish the quiz as a swf and then load it into the main movie, but that is static and always has the same choices in the same order. How can I do this dynamically?

I have an index.swf that serves as the main part of my page, and it loads swfs as sub pages.One of my sub pages, home.swf, needs to be able to load it's own set of sub pages as well, which means I'll have a swf within a swf within a swf (index.swf > home.swf > home_1.swf). When I test compile home.swf by itself, it works fine. But when I test compile index.swf, I get the Error #1009. Here's my code with the line indicated where the debugger says the problem is:

I'm sort of jumping in headfirst to some Flex/AIR stuff. I have a pretty solid background with AS3, but given the inherent hierarchal complexity of Flex (compared to regular Flash), I'm running into an issue.
Let's assume that you have an app where pretty much everything is event driven (common). Accessing elements in the near vicinity of the event target, or the event target itself, is trivial. I'm trying to find, however, the most practical (read: best, most efficient) way to find children that are far removed from the current context.

I'll give a complete explanation of what I'm trying to do. I have a video player as a separate SWF. In this video player I have a VideoContainer class extending Sprite, which contains the video and a control bar with specific video buttons.
This SWF is loaded in another main SWF, which has a menu that is on top of everything else. When I click "Fullscreen" in the video SWF, everything goes smoothly, except the menu remains on top of the VideoContainer object.
I need a way to change the display order of the loaded SWF, to put it on top of everything else on Fullscreen and change it back when Fullscreen goes off. All this needs to be made inside the video player. Also, the configuration of the children can change (the video player can be loaded in different places in the main SWF), so I can't use a certain unchanging path.

I have a movieclip, which attaches to another movieclip, which scrolls.On click I want to be able to drag that movieclip away from the one it was attached to. When I just removeChild it, it's position changes. I want it to stay in the same spot until it's dragged.Any suggestion, on how I can give it that same position, when not attached?

Here im try to do just like a Scorm. Now im troubles, I need to find a user's visited links.I tried bt i failed. i used attachMovie(). If i attach the clip then i couldnt remove that clip even i used removeMovieClip() and unloadMovie().And my another doubt is: Can i calculate the Loaded swf's content length, Because i want to add the sliders like a windows media player. So that user can drag the slider to forward that current swf on the screen.

I installed a Flash template that has a "Read More" button which is used in several locations of the site. The button corresponds to a single symbol called "button_more" and another symbol within that symbol called "area_more". It's a "Movie Clip" type of symbol, not a "Button" type symbol.
What I'm trying to figure out is where would I find the link to the page where that button points to - it points to different pages of the site depending on where it's located. For example, in the About Us section it links to a page that has more details describing About Us. In the Services section it links to a page that has more details describing Services. So the same symbol is going to different links.
I checked the Properties of the symbol and it doesn't have any option for a link. (I guess it's not really going to a link, but to a different frame in the timeline) But where would I find exactly where each button points to in case I want to edit one of them in the future, or create a new button with a new link?

I have purchased an image gallery program that works fine but I am struggling to make a very minor modification. I have asked the author for assistance but previous requests have met with no response so I am also asking my question here. This program has most of its logic in an external AS2 file. I have made some small changes to this file and want to save it under a new name. However, that would also require me to change the reference to the external AS2 file from within the fla file. That's where my problem lies. I can't find any code in the fla that contains such a reference.
If I try to publish an swf without this file in the required location it causes a compiler error thus proving that there must be a reference somewhere to that file. However, doing a search for this AS2 file in the 'current document' when viewing the fla file in Flash CS4 produces no results. Where else could this reference be hidden?

since i'm on this text kick, i was wondering if anyone knew if there is a way to have an imported text field contain some code that can be injected into the SWF itself? for example: an HREF that passes code to the background image movieClip. click the different imported links and the BG changes.if there is no way to do that, cool. just wondering. because i know you can pass parameters to OTHER SWFs via the HREF... so i wonder if it's possible to do that to itself.

I am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Flash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?

[URL]regarding this tutorial I started my site [URL] to get some trasition effects but im getting somewhat different since the external SWFs take time to load. isn't it better to create "intro and outro" on the same time line instead of loading external SWFs bcos once the movie loaded as a whole will lead to smooth and contineous transitions.

I am new to Flash. I bought a template online a couple weeks ago, and for the most part have made all the changes to personalize the page. The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. I have a datagrid with different types of columns, like I have checkboxes, combo boxes and text Inputs as the column types. Now I want one of the column type to a link, with the label "view". All the rows in that column are link with the same label "View" and on clicking it, I want a Pop up window to be opened?

I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:

<item>
<header>Test Message 1</header>[code]....
So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.
