Flash :: Dynamic Loading Of Nested Swfs

Background: I have a class called MultipleChoiceQuestion which pulls the stem and choices from an xml file. The choices for each question are randomized. The Quiz class has a set of specified multiple choice questions which it loads dynamically. It also references the xml file to determine # of questions. The quiz controls the question progression based on correct answers. The main movie launches the quiz at the appropriate time.
Issue I want the question building to be dynamic and load the choices and randomize them. How do I do this? Right now I publish the quiz as a swf and then load it into the main movie, but that is static and always has the same choices in the same order. How can I do this dynamically?

Well this is the problem right here. In my flash movie, I made it so a member from my PunBB Forum can login using their login information from the forum, This is using the LoadVars and it loads the variables into flash and displays the username. In the php script i made it so it will display profile information that user has on the forum, this is where the problem comes in.. I can trace the data perfectly fine in the output panel when you are successfully logged into flash.
I can also display the data in Dynamic text boxes IF they are on the main stage.. I need to be able to load the data of the user inside of a movie clip.. that is loaded when you click "User Profile" on the menu, Once the movie is loaded, no data is displayed. Yes i have all the instance names and paths correct, but no matter what i do I cannot load the data into this movie clip. So me thinking it just wouldnt work, I tried making a profile page on a different keyframe in the timeline, That also did not load the data onto another frame.

I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf

Whats the simplest way to get a nested swf to modify the value of a variable located in the parent's swf? I'm not sure localConnection is what I need.
Here is a simplified example of my situation:
main.swf
content01.swf
content02.swf
main.swf loads and unloads content SWFs ontop of it's stage.
A piece of script in each content.swf needs to modify the _hieght of a movieclip in main.swf
(imagine the movieclip is a visual container for content, and content that takes up for space needs a taller content box; hence, changing the _height of the movieclip content box)
I'm also animating the movieclip's height expanding using actionscript:

I am using a flipbook that I purchased on activeden. It loads swf files as pages. If have one video on page 1 (page1.swf) and one video on page 2 (page2.swf). Both pages are on the same spread. I want the video on page 2 to start after the video on page 1 has finished. So on page 2 I want to listen for a .complete from the video on page one. This is the code that I am using to load the video on page 1 where I need to listen for the .complete.

I have a "wrapper swf" that loads a remote flash player that in turn loads video preroll ads from various advertisers. So my wrapper is the parent and the remote swf is a child and the video ad is a grandchild. I am looking to capture the url that the grandchild will navigate to when clicked. I am trying to trace it in the parent (wrapper) mouseUP and mouseDOwn event.
Is there a way to traverse ALL children until I get to the "bottom/last loaded" swf and get the URL? I wish to save the url to a variable so I can launch the url in another player of my own as opposed to having it launch an external IE browser.

I have an index.swf that serves as the main part of my page, and it loads swfs as sub pages.One of my sub pages, home.swf, needs to be able to load it's own set of sub pages as well, which means I'll have a swf within a swf within a swf (index.swf > home.swf > home_1.swf). When I test compile home.swf by itself, it works fine. But when I test compile index.swf, I get the Error #1009. Here's my code with the line indicated where the debugger says the problem is:

Flash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?

Let's say I have a movie clip named MC in stage. The following statements work.

this[clipName].y = 100;
However, if I put a child movie clip (named childMC) inside that MC movie clip, I'm not able to address the child movie clip by the same fashion. I'll get an error.

this[clipName].y = 100;
Is there any way to address the child movie clip with dynamic name?

I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:
There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
Phewww.. so long chain... inshort:
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:

Im trying to load series of external Swfs into a Movieclip on stage. The swf are 800 x 600 in dimension whereas as the container is 400 X 400.
Whenever i try to load the external swf in the container,the container takes the size of the loaded swf instead of 400 x 400 .How can i overcome this? I want to any swf loaded into the container to be 400 x 400

Here's what i'm trying to do:
I have 3 different movieclips that acts as buttons. These 3 buttons are called mc_projekt1, mc_projekt2 and mc_projekt3.
When one of the buttons are clicked, they will load an external swf.
Here's my code for doing this with the first button (mc_projekt1):

This works fine and all, but what I'm doing right now is repeating the code above for each of the 3 buttons (mc_projekt1, mc_projekt2, mc_projekt3) and just simply add a "2" after each function instead. So for mc_projekt2, it's imageLoader2 and loadImage2 etc. This also works fine, but I know I'll be adding more buttons over time and in the end I'll end up with a lot of the same code that way.
So I was wondering if by adding mc_projekt1, mc_projekt2 and mc_projekt3 and any future "mc_projekt" to an array this could all be done much simpler, I'm just not sure what to do ...

I found some handy script on xml flash menu, in which I've modified the code to how I would like everything to look and behave. Only, because I am new to this business of not having anything on the timeline, I do not know how to set the menu buttons as links to external swfs. I would like the buttons (menu items) to load an external swf into a holder on click. Then I would like the menu to collapse as it does when another main menu is clicked.

There are two external swfs loaded in one main flash file - the rolling ball, which is a default external swf, and the circles swf, which loads after the gray button is clicked. I would like the circles swf to load into the blank movie clip I have set up. I would like the external swf contained within the blank movie clip to be full browser flash and scaleable with any change in browser size. To do this, I set up some actionscript to make the blankmc full browser and scaleable (i've done this on a regular movie clip slide show from within a flash file, rather than being an externally loaded swf, and it worked.) with the hope that the blank movie clip and its contents, which would be the external circles swf file, would resize and rescale appropariately if the browser window were changed.
Currently, when the gray bar is clicked, the circles swf comes in not as full browser. Once the window is resized, the animation relocates itself to the lower right corner, with the top corner of the external swf situating itself on the center of the blank mc. I know this is a registration issue, but before resize the animation is where i want it. I have a parent SWF (Parent) that handles user navigation between multiple children SWFs (Child_1, Child_2, Child_3). How do I add event listeners to the navigation buttons on the children SWFs so that the user can move laterally between Child_1, Child_2 and Child_3? I can think of two options but can't get either one to work:
1) The parent SWF sets up the event listeners when it loads a child. So, I use a loader on Parent to load Child_1 and in Parent add eventlisteners to Child_1.myNavigationform.myButton.
The problem here is that the Parent is only handing the loader instance and I can't think of how it would drill down to the individual objects within Child_1.
2) Child_1 adds the event listeners to its own objects. This just reverses the problem. Child_1 has no problem accessing its own buttons but when a user clicks them it has no way of accessing methods on parent so that Child_2 can be loaded.

It appears that under certain circumstances, movie clips from a SWF loaded at runtime (using Loader) cannot be instantiated if another SWF has been loaded in the mean time. I am loading multiple .swfs into multiple .swfs, but the .swf are never being properly unloaded. I thought they were unloading until I started monitoring my Page File Usage and seeing it increase everytime I loaded another external swf.
In using this function to load my content, what would be the proper way/function to unload the content?

I've never had to deal with a mc inside of an mc this way before... Basically they're already on the stage and creating them dynamically would require recreating everything.... Not worth it.

I'm working on an educational game that interacts with randomly selected characters. The names and attributes are imported from xml. I have a mc called characters that contains each character on a frame tagged with their name. The frame label is the characters name and I am having no problem displaying each character as they are randomly called.

Each charater is a mc with 2 frames one with mouth closed and one with mouth open. Because the characters are accessed using the variable characterName as the frame tag I can't figure out how to tell the movie in AS3 to gotoAndStop on frame 2 of the character mc. I've tried numerous variations and just can't get it to work.

I'm working on a project and the deadline is near but I'm stuck at making my video presentation work. So here's the problem: it should be played linearly and non-linearly. Because the video files are long, i keep them in 9 seperate swfs. If you don't press any buttons, the presentation runs smoothly, but the problems start when you try to jump forward/backward to another part. Here's my code so far (I don't have much experience with as3, so it's mostly based on tutorials):

Everything works correctly below. The new button displays on stage, but the nested dynamic text (instance name "campText") will not display.

I have been working with AS2 for a long time, but are a total newbie when it comes to AS3.On my stage I have placed an empty MC with instance name "holder".In my library I got a MC linked by the name "sektor".
"sektor" has several movieclips and buttons with instance name, e.g. "corner1", "corner2", "corner3"....
I have nested "sektor" inside "holder" by writing this code:

I have figured out that by tracing holder, I know it�s excisting (Result: [object MovieClip]) but if I try to trace holder.sektor1, I got the result "undefined". So it seems like "sektor1" is not excisting. Why?

Using a hybrid of some K tutes and others, I was able to get dynamic HTML to load and scroll. No prob. I added it to a nested movie clip, figured out some dot targeting (in an ongoing attempt to shuck telltarget), and got the HTML to load but the scrollbar isn't functioning. It's there, but doesn't work?? I've searched around here and found plenty of titles that fit the description, but not the issue... Chances seem really good that I'm doing something obviously wrong. I'm hoping so at least...

Say we have a set of similar MovieClips in the library that all use the same base class, such as Car(). Each of these clips in the library contain nested clips, such as windows. Now, different cars can have a different number of windows (an SUV is larger than a smart car), and thus a different number of nested MovieClips. How would one create a list of all the nested MovieClips in a parent clip dynamically? In AS2, for...in was sufficient for this, like so:
