Oct 16, 2009I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

Feb 17, 2009I have a project that was done in AS2, and instead of porting it to AS3(no budget..)I created an AS3 "shell" for all new features to be loaded into, and am communicating between the as2 and as3 with localConnection. This works fine, but the problem is since I want the new content to appear to be part of the old, I need to 'float' the as3 swf over/above the as2 swf. I can do this no problem using divs and css, but as soon as I do, the localConnection fails to connect in either swf. Both the swfs function fine in this configuration, but no localConnection

To see the xml, but itīs php. It hasnīt generated it.
I follow every tutorial. This is the way. Is there any other way to make it "EXECUTE" the php code?? it donesnīt seem to work. The same happens when i assign it to an XML in AS3. It doesnīt work.
Flash :: Dynamic Loading Of Nested Swfs
Dec 12, 2011Background: I have a class called MultipleChoiceQuestion which pulls the stem and choices from an xml file. The choices for each question are randomized. The Quiz class has a set of specified multiple choice questions which it loads dynamically. It also references the xml file to determine # of questions. The quiz controls the question progression based on correct answers. The main movie launches the quiz at the appropriate time.
Issue I want the question building to be dynamic and load the choices and randomize them. How do I do this? Right now I publish the quiz as a swf and then load it into the main movie, but that is static and always has the same choices in the same order. How can I do this dynamically?

Flash :: Loading SWF Doesn't Work When SWF Is Stored On Local PC
May 2, 2011I have an HTML file which contains a Flash .FLV player; which then loads a given FLV video and plays it. The idea is all these files are stored locally on the PC as part of an application install, we use HTML/flash for the help/manual. On my PC it works fine but on a user's PC nothing is displayed. However if I host the exact same file-structure online and give them the URL, it works perfectly.
I am guessing this is a security issue of some sort but have no idea how to address it. The browser being used is actually a XULRunner app, i.e it's the FireFox 3 engine but not actually FF. Since my PC isa developer PC it's entirely possible I've done something in the past on another project that makes it work, rather than my PC being special in some way. For reference the HTML has the following in it - this is generated from some 3rd-party app:

I've created an extremely simple flash website. I need it to display some pictures and to keep the filesize down I want to load these images on demand. The images are hosted on my server in folders in the same directory as the website swf and the html file that initializes the swf.
I use the most rudimentary way of loading an image, it looks like this:

When I upload the website to the server it simply does not display the image, it's not loaded, the place where it's supposed to be is blank.
I've searched the site and there have been some threads with similar issues but the answers given just don't seem relevant. Something about cross domain policies, but all my images are on the same domain as the website swf.

Feb 1, 2007I have built this AS2 game that uses quite a few classes and library symbols.It works fine the first time you play the swf. But if you try to do the whole ctrl + ENTER in the Flash IDE, it doesn't seem to load any of the assets that are dynamically attached to the stage.This also happens if you have another swf use loadMovie to load it.I have all the dynamically attached symbols assigned with the linkage and set to export on the firstFrame. There is an include .as file on the first frame of the fla.

Nov 29, 2009- I put 3 dynamic text field to stage. I selected Verdana both of them and select bold and italic for other 2 field. after that I created a textfield.

1)Passing params Load file.swf?langid=n then reading by loader info (this one is not easy to test since loading swf with params doesn't work in flash ide debug env.)or
2) on load complete cast the loader to a movieclip the accessng a main func with the task of translating the whole swf contents(the same func i should have at point 1)

I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.

Apr 21, 2010I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.

I am creating a clock with a textfield and I am loading fonts from a SWF library: the available classes/linkages are "Arial", "ArialBold", "MyriadPro", "MyriadProBold" and "Verdana".This is the line where I get the class from the SWF, and it extracts the class correctly

ActionScript 2.0 :: Getting Transitions Between External Swfs To Work?
Jun 12, 2005i've used an empty moveclip and loaded external swfs into it using buttons. Each of the swfs has an intro and outro and uses the transition action script from the tutorial on this website. When I navigate through the site on my computer the transitions work fine, but when I go to the actual uploaded site none of the movies load up. All of the swfs are in the same folder on the site so surely I only need the "the_name.swf" as the path.

Mar 26, 2009here is the scenario..I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple buttons ...it currently works for a button loading a single swf. The name of the instance name of the buttons is the same as the name of the swf file that they load so I thought I could do something that when the button is clicked it would pass the name of the button into the URLRequest but I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using.

Swf Into Fla Doesn't Work?
Jul 23, 2009I have a swf that is pretty complicated, you can interact with the page and go to different keyframes and it stops and/or starts depending on buttons, but I want to put it in a fla or something so I can put other swfs next to it and build it up and put several of them together as one.
I don't care about making it too complicated, I just want one interactive swf to go to the next compiled swf when that movie ends, but when I try importing it or loading it it just runs straight through without stopping or paying any attention to the scripting.

The part where the code moves to frame 2 seems to work perfectly but I can't seem to move to frame 1 when "1408" is returned.

Flash Doesn't Work On Some IE's?
Apr 14, 2010I'm having a problem, where random IE's are not able to display my .swf file. All the IE's are IE8 with the latest flash pluggins and all security's are set at Medium, however some IE's get just a grey box and other's get the full flash file. What's going on? It works fine in Safari and Firefox of course, but why so much difficulty with AS3 Flash9 in IE? here is a link to the site, and it's the big image changer at the bottom of the front page.
