ActionScript 3.0 :: Swf With Mutliple Buttons To Load Child Swfs That Can't Get To Work?
Mar 26, 2009
here is the scenario..I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple buttons ...it currently works for a button loading a single swf. The name of the instance name of the buttons is the same as the name of the swf file that they load so I thought I could do something that when the button is clicked it would pass the name of the button into the URLRequest but I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using.
////////////////////////////////// code from the actions layer
var bioloader:Loader;
var biocontainer:MovieClip;
I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. But I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using on the stage
I've got this interactive poem I've been working on for a class. I've basically finished each "episode" seperately. I made a parent document which essentially loads one of the ten child documents onto the respective key frame. Here's a sample of the code for the first key frame of the parent document:
Well Two things are messed up about it, well my "ChildTimeline2" variable will off and on assosciate itslef not with the main time line of a child document, but of a nested symbol inside said child document. Even worse, the "gotoAndStop();" command I will give sometimes applies to Parent document... yaay! but often it will apply to the child document. The end result being this horrible looping moment where you are stuck in one child document for all time.
I wish I could attach the documents but they exceed the 300KB. how I can get Actionscript to listen fro the last frame of the maintimeline of the child document, or tell flash to gotoandStop for the parent document
I`m using AS3 + CS4, and have a problem. At the main page I have "loader" - UILoader, in which I want to load one of the 2 swfs - it depends of 2 buttons on stage
[Code]...
By default main_ru.swf is loaded, and after I press en_button I can see only a part of main_en.swf, and larger part of main_ru.swf. why?
I've created 5 buttons to load 5 different external swfs into my webpage. I use the following script. How do I unload it when the next button is been clicked. [code]
I had to create a menu using array and I had to animate it. With some great expertise from people, I've accomplished that. But now I have a question about OOP, because I'm trying to add functionality to the buttons to load swfs into my main movie. Even though I strictly follow tutorials and exercises, I can't figure out how to reference a variable made in one class to another. For instance, I have index.as, navbar.as, and menubutton.as. I assume I need to add a loader to my index.as. But I can't trace the loader in my other classes. I've been told to effectively accomplish this, it is best to use custom event dispatchers. But I'm lost on how to use them.
I am loading swfs into a movie clip. However, the contact button is not a loaded swf any longer. It's in the main flash page. This is what I want to do. All the buttons load the external swfs except when I click on the contact button that is in the main flash page. I need to get the other buttons to load after I click the contact flash button. Below is the code for the contact button and the one under for one of the other buttons.
I have my main SWF into which I want to load an external swf...When I've tried using the following code...
var light:Loader = new Loader(); light.load(new URLRequest("light.swf")); addChildAt(light, 1);
The SWF loads but the buttons inside it do not show. How do I load the swf and have the buttons inside it work? Anything inside of the external swf that is a movie clip works, but I'd like to be able to keep the up/down/over and hit features of the button.
I have an external swf (sub.swf) that loads into my main swf. The external swf has buttons of its own...that I would like to use to load additional external swf's in its place. I click on the buttons and nothings happens.
My current code is as follows:
All of the following code is in my main.swf ================================ //Location where the external SWFs will load var Xpos:Number=18; var Ypos:Number=10;
[Code]...
External swf has no code except for a stop action.
I pieced this current code based on various articles I've found on the net.
I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
I'm new and am having a bit of trouble loading one swf into another for a preloader and main program. If u open up flashSite.fla or the swf, everything works, but when I load it into a mc container of preloaderMomSite, the animated buttons no longer work. If someone could take a look, I would love to find out what I'm doing wrong. All files are located on in the same directory.
I have a big problem - I decided to make a website using flash as I am good with photoshop and thought it would be fairly easy to construct in flash using tutorials. All went well except now the website is published, weird things happen. The homepage works fine but when you click on "portfolio" some of the buttons don't appear and when you try the buttons, some images don't appear. Occasionally some of the buttons take you to the wrong place also. When I test the movie in flash, everything works fine so I can't work it out. I am a complete novice so advice will have to be spelt out in black and white.

I am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.
I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.
I'm designing a battery of online psychological tests. Each test is created on its own swf file. What I need is help coding a main parent file that will load and unload each of these child swfs in sequence.So, when the main site is first visited, the parent loads "test1.swf" as a child swf. Then, when the user clicks a "finished" button in the "test1.swf" child, the parent unloads "test1.swf" and loads "test2.swf". An important point is that the child must be unloaded completely, as we're dealing with large video files that can't remain in the active memory without causing problems.
I have a parent swf that loads 5 child swfs.Everything loads fine but after the xml loads the data there is no functionality on the child swfs other than the listen command to use the left and right keys to switch between images. The scrolling and buttons on the child swf become deactivated.
I THINK I've traced the problem to the activateButtons() function. I've tried modifying it with no luck.If I comment out the function then the child swf works and the parent swf doesn't.Again, this is only an assumption,not conclusive.Both swfs work fully independantly. Only some functions of the child swf work loaded into the parent swf.I got the code for the parent swf online and I can't even remember where, but here it is (modified):
I'm trying to create a music bar that will have next/prev track buttons.I thought of creating an array of the tracks and navigating through the array.Naming the tracks "track1", "track2" etc, start with track1 and increase the number after every pass through the loop. Although I thought of these I could not get the code to work.
I'm confused on the parent/child thing. Seems like the "child" statement would refer to the file I'm loading, not the file I'm in? I want the file I'm IN to kill ITSELF when it loads the next swf (it's child?)And then there are other times when I want them to stack one on top of the other. I've added comments above each set of button code to explain./This code is in home swf. Handles portfolio buttons. I do not want to unload Home.swf, so this works fine.
I have a site that contains approx 20 pages of lengthy forms. The forms exist on single frames within the flash movie. This application is used as a demo only, so I do not have a need to submit the form data. The demo is used to go back and forth from form to form and fill in mock data. The problem is when the user goes from form to form the data they have entered is not saved. Is there a way I can set all frames to remember the data entered into the form without having to set every form control instance? There thousands of fields in these forms and I am trying to avoid individually naming them and scripting them to save their values.
Is there a way I can share sound assets between parent and child swfs?
Currently, I have a parent swf that loads a child swf (and each have preloaders) and some of them have the same sound assets. I would rather only load the sounds once... can I reference a sound even if it 'lives' in another swf?
I have a project which has a main swf file that is compiled with a bunch of classes. The main swf also loads in other child swf objects, created in the flash IDE, that happen to reference some of the same classes.
It seems redundant to have the child swfs include the main swfs classes, especially if I update the classes which means I have to recompile all the child swfs, not just the main swf.
Im using FlashDevelop 4.0 RC3 with Flex 4.6/AIR 3.1 to code the main swf, and the child swfs are flas made in CS5.
I was thinking of using SWC's, but I'm not sure how to incorporate that into FlashDevelops workflow. I tried the SWC export plugin but that doesnt seem to work very well, it attempts to export everything in the project and doesnt seem to offer me an option to be specific...
Surely there is a way to compile flas from the IDE and allow for classes to be used for compile type checking etc, but not actually include them in the compiled swf? I know with the flex command line compiler you can generate a link-report xml from the main swf then use that xml file to exlude classes from the compile of the child swfs, but I cant see how to do something like that when exporting swfs from the flash IDE.
I have a page that loads loads of swfs*. I'm loading in them all at the same time, Sequentially which is slowing down the intro animation. Is there a way to load swfs sequentially? Or if not load them on a timer (half a sec would do the trick I think)
*there lots of different dynamically generated Flex graphs so it's not possible to have them all in one.
I am trying to copy frames from 6 different layers along with the objects (action script, tween motions, buttons, graphic elements) from one movieclip to another. But once I do that, everyhting seems to be shifted and if I try to reposition the items in the new clip, it seems like I would have to repeat after every keyframe for each layer.
So my question is A. Is there a way to duplicate a movie clip but give it a instance name (an entirely new movieclip with the same frames and layers in the same position as the previous)?
B. How can I move mutliple objects across layers and keyframes?
