I have made index swf which is loading other child swf's into index these swf's are images.swf,portfolio.swf, about.swf etc.., I have made 2 public function in each swf which is construct or diconstruct. when i unload any swf then i play disconstruct public function of every child swf.. I stuck in when I remove stage event listener of every child swf then it shows error.
I have created event listeners for a particular movieclip.Insidet this movieclip there is so many objects.When ever I click on the parent movieclip the event listener calls the function for the child object. I had tried removeEventLIstener()
import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.MouseEvent; var info:MovieClip=new MovieClip(); info.graphics.beginFill(0x000000,0.35); [Code] ..... I want to delete mc's parent
I'm trying to place an event on a child and not the parent but it doesn't seem to trigger the event. Example. Code: parent.child.buttonMode = true; parent.child.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, onMouseOver ); private function onMouseOver(evt : MouseEvent) : void{ trace("child = "+evt.target.name); } The above event is not getting fired.
I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:
I am trying to do is to add an eventListener to a MovieClip that is inside another MovieClip. Things are going like this:I have ParentMovieClip and inside ChildMovieClip. When I load ParentMovieClip I would like to add an EventListener to ChildMovieClip so that when I roll over the mouse on the ChildMovieClip it will play some scenes from the ParentMovieClip.
I'm trying to build a small game to try and get into ActionScript. This is my first real attempt at ActionScript.Currently I have an Enemy superclass and an Enemy_One class that extends that superclass.When an enemy has moved off screen I want to remove it from the frame. Here's the errors I'm getting:
Code: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at Enemy/checkHitPlayer() at Enemy/loop() Enemy.as
i'm new to AS3 and i was wondering what is the best way to remove a child at a point. i tried Holder.removeChild(Holder.getObjectsUnderPoint(new Point(exampleX, exampleY))[0]); however that returned ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
What is the correct event listener to detect a child added to the stage? I tried:
[Code]...
which doesn't work. I also tried ADDED_TO_STAGE but that doesn't fire it either. Do you know the correct way to detect when the child is added? Perhaps I should be attaching the listener to the parent instead?
I have an issue where removechild won't infact remove a child. I think its something to do with my dropTarget.parent issues. The concept of the code is that you drag a source onto a destination. When you drop the source onto the destination you will get a text field that says "Hello" or "Goodbye". The objective i want to achive is that once i drop a source onto the destination, removechild will remove any previouse textfields added. This is proving difficult.
I have a website with a slider that worked once upon a time. It still works if the swf is not added to the stage by the preloader. If I load the swf directly, rather than the html with the preloader, the slider works. Otherwise, the stopDrag() function appears to not work, making my video player's volume slider infinitely follow the user's mouse (which is completely unacceptable as you can imagine)
Keep in the mind, the slider works on its own... just after the site has been added to a stage of a preloader via addChild() does it not work.
I have two classes in my project - a main class and a fancyText class. In main I create a new instance of fancyText and add it to the stage. Inside fancyText there is a timer that runs and when x time is up the fancyText fades out.
I'd like to know the best way to remove the child from main when the alpha of fancyText hits zero. Should i go down the route of adding a listener to fancyText in main, and dispatching a custom event from within the fancyText class?
I guess i could just check the child's alpha value in main and remove it when the alpha it's zero. But fancyText only gets added in a certain scenario - so i can't check it all the time - which would mean doing something like this:
Code: ... addChild(fancyText) checkFancyText = true (assuming a boolean declared earlier) ... elsewhere in main -
[Code].....
Seems like there are a number of ways to do it - I don't suppose it's possible to remove a child from main from within fancyText class? or is that space cadet talk?
This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.
so I have a movieclip on the stage(lets call that selection movieclip) that once a button is clicked is going to open another movieclip(call this slideshow) I am trying to remove the selection movieclip when you launch the slideshow movieclip.
the problem is that when i click on first button the Movie Clip does load ok but when i click on second button the first movie cliip is visible, i have try everything i have read here but no luck, i want to learn how to remove first child and allow only the second child to show up, i am looking forward to add more buttons so the remove child should be for multiple buttons, i am learning and so far did purchase a online tutorial but did not help me with this situation,
I have a web site that creates a page by calling another class object. When I return from that page to the Main page I want the old page removed. I have done it like this but I am getting errors.
Two vars in GlobalVarsContainer: public static var removePages:Boolean; public static var pageToRemove:Object;
Create new page object: function onClickBtn1():void { var servicesHome:ServicesHome=new ServicesHome(); addChild(servicesHome); } [Code] .....
This is the error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable servicesHome is not defined. So I know it's getting back here with all vars set correctly. I've tried changing the public static var pageToRemove:Object; to a string but that is not right.
I have a movieclip with 3 frames. each frame has a button on it. Using actionscript I jump to a frame then add an event listener to that button.However, it doesn't work since the playhead for that movieclip doesn't actually get moved to a different frame until the frame redraws. So actionscript says the button doesn't exist.(other than not dynamically adding the buttons with code... which will be my next step...)
Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...
function goNow (event:KeyboardEvent): void { thisOtherKey = event.keyCode; if (thisOtherKey == 32) { nextCar.gotoAndPlay(2); parkingQue.play(); tries++; }}stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goNow);
I'm using for loop to display 3lifes on stage using:
[Code]...
and I have already create a hitTestObject on the character, once the character comes in contact with a movieclip, removeChild(Life); is triggered. The first child removed successfully but when it comes to the second one, an error appear:
[Code]...
What should I do to solve this? and how do I trigger an event after no more life is left?
The code I am having trouble with is al the way at the bottom (Actions layer on the stage). Below the multi-line comment.Basically, I have a rotating image bar. One the first level of my file, on the stage, is a container movie clip called "imageScroll". The code that allows the images to rotate is applied to the container clip. Inside of "imageScroll", are a series of 36 images, each with their own unique instance name.On the main level, I have a block of code which first detects when the user mouses over imageScroll. Next my code attempts to dig down one level into imageScroll and find the instance name of the image the users mouse is hovering over.
I want to then store that instance name in a string "_destination", then take that string and store it in a MovieClip variable "currentClip". By doing this, I can then use the variable currentClip to effect the code at the bottom, which causes the images to scale up when the user mouses over, and scale back when the user mouses out.The way I currently have my file set up, the code always returns the instance name imageScroll. I am using event.currentTarget.name to try and pull the instance name of the image. I have tried using event.target.name, but that pulls the instance name of a movie clip two levels lower then I want to go.I basically need a way to modify my code so it finds out which movie clip inside of the container imageScroll the user is mousing over.For those who would prefer to have all the code here, see below:
Does anyone know the actionscript 3.0 parameters in removing the child within a movieclip? This is my scenario:
1. I have two (2) languages which play on the main timeline. Each languages are movieclips.
2. I have a movieclip which has buttons. These buttons are added dynamically using "stage.addChild(main_menu)"
3. I have a go back button together with the main timeline. How can remove a child on a timeline? For example when I choose the language A: it will play through by a movieclip and the buttons will be added dynamically [the dynamically added buttons are inside this movieclip; also the AS3 is inside that movieclip]. I wanted to remove the added child when the go back button is pressed and return to certain frame on the main timeline. The go back button is not included in the said movieclip--it is within the same timeline of languages and I wanted the script to be on the main timeline.
I got a Parent Sprite, let's name it SpriteP, which holds inside it two other Sprites. Sprite1 and Sprite2.[code]Sprite2 is a rectangle. When I rotate it, of course, the height of its parent, SpriteP, GROWS. But I would expect that height to go back to what it should be when I'm removing Sprite2!And it does! If I remove Sprite2 while NOT being rotated, the height of the parent drops back to normal, 200.
I got a Parent Sprite, let's name it SpriteP, which holds inside it two other Sprites. Sprite1 and Sprite2.
When Sprite2 is NOT rotated:
Code: trace(SpriteP.width + ' ' + SpriteP.height); //100 250. SpriteP.removeChild(Sprite2) trace(SpriteP.width + ' ' + SpriteP.height); //100 200. -> works, 200 is good. When Sprite2 is rotated at 90:
[Code].....
And it does! If I remove Sprite2 while NOT being rotated, the height of the parent drops back to normal, 200. But if I rotate Sprite2, the Parent won't update its bounds.
I'm using removeMovieClip and AttachMovie twice in one rollOver event, but only the second one works. Here's the code:
[Code]....
So - if there is only remove/attach of "LetP" everything works fine, but whene I add ramove/attach "k" only the "k" works, the "LetP" doesn't change. Should I put it into a function? Or is there another reason?
Actually I just checked and the removeMovieClip doesn't work in both cases. Is that becouse actionscript is attached to object itself instead of a dedicated actionscript layer?
when i do this it does remove the child BUT i get the old "The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller." business. How would i do this properly?????
I'm in one movie clip and want to remove an event listener set in another movie clip
the following code brings up an error
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at GemoroBovoMetzia23b_fla::Draw_Tool_7/toolsbtn()
So in my toolsbtn function I have written the following code which doesn't work Object(root).slides_mc.help_btn.remove.EventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Object(root).PresentationHelp);
I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. But I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using on the stage
I am facing a issue in Flash container. I am having a project which has main container which call different SWFs into it. Now I call this main container file into another container, and their problem starts. Many option doesn't work properly which generally have _root, _parent etc...
If I want to run project (main container SWF and child SWFs) into another container file which place on a website. I want to show whole project from this container file so what I need to do?
I have movieclip which contains child movieclip. when child movie clip finish to play i want to run a function in a parent movieclip. so I made a custom event dispatcher in the first frame of the child movieclip:
