This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.
Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...
function goNow (event:KeyboardEvent): void { thisOtherKey = event.keyCode; if (thisOtherKey == 32) { nextCar.gotoAndPlay(2); parkingQue.play(); tries++; }}stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goNow);
I have a movieclip with 3 frames. each frame has a button on it. Using actionscript I jump to a frame then add an event listener to that button.However, it doesn't work since the playhead for that movieclip doesn't actually get moved to a different frame until the frame redraws. So actionscript says the button doesn't exist.(other than not dynamically adding the buttons with code... which will be my next step...)
my event listeners does not catch a custom event while all of the others do. I have this in my FLA:
[Code].....
...which obviously means p5.finished() executed AND NGDemoEvent successfully fired the custom event. But I don't get the trace from closeP5Handler() (and obviously not from closeP5).
My FLA file has six other such function calls to six other classes (P2, P3, etc.) and these all work. They're identical. I'm tearing my hair out over this. Why won't the listener get the event?
The keyBoard event listeners call on the rotate and unrotate functions and based on the key inputs(A and D) will implement either of the functions and rotate the image or return it to the original upright position. However, I haven't been able to get the function to work. When I press the A or D keys on the keyboard nothing happens. I even put trace() in one of the functions to see if the function will even be implemented but I don't get anything. I put in my Scripts below. Why are the functions not working? Do the eventlisteners fire or are there conflicts? I'm not getting any error messages.
Atm im putting a a game i build into my main flash app.Everything works fine except the keyboard listener.unny.AFTER a mouse click on the 'loaded' swf the keys 'arrow UP' + 'arrow DOWN' start working.I created already a script that loads the listeners IF they are not loaded yet, but i think thats not the problem. Same situation.After clicking on the movie it starts to work, but apparently the listeners are already applied. All other listeners work besides the keyboard listeners.Stand alone(the game swf running by its own) the game works perfectly!btw the game is importing a main document class.
Code: this.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN var keybListenerLoadedUp:Boolean = false;
I'm creating a minesweeper game as my first flash project, but I'm already stuck on something technical. I have created a button named Button which contains a bitmap. I have a lot of instances of that button on stage, and they are put there by actionscript using a for-loop. Their instance names are button0, button1, button2, button3, etc.
This is the code for the eventlistener: It's in the first keyframe of the actions layer. var buttonListener:Object=new Object(); buttonListener.click=function(evt:Object):Void{ trace("clicked"); } for (i=0; i<rows*cols; i++) { eval("button"+i).addEventListener("click", buttonListener); }
I also noticed that when I do this for one button that I created myself and put on the stage manually, this also doesn't work, but when I pick one of the predefined buttons, it works just fine.
Just using the script below to output the key that is pressed in the output but I get the "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." warning on the addEventListener line, which I assume is because of the "stage" var. How do I correct that?
and I have the ClassPath pointing to the folder that contains this .as file. I do get the trace "In setUp" but I'm not getting seeing any Keyboard events. There also aren't any errors showing up in output so I am kind of stumped.
- Flash CS4 Professional Version 10.0.2, working in Actionscript 2
- I work with Mac OSX 6.4
I implemented a FLVPlayback component in a Flash file I've published on my website, so it could load an external movie without having to put it in the SWF itself. It works fine when using the SWF offline, but when I put it online it never runs on the first go. I either have to restart the browser, or when that doesn't work I'll have to wait for a few hours before it magically does what it's supposed to do.This goes for both Safari and Firefox on my Mac, and while using Firefox on a PC (I haven't tested different scenario's yet). Once it works, it'll always work on that particular computer in that particular browser. At first I thought the browser didn't allow internet access to the SWF (the FLV that it uses are hosted on a different site), but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Maybe it's a cache issue, but I haven't been able to prove that either.URL..I kept the actionscript at a minimum. When the play button is pressed, it simply goes to the next frame where the FLVPlayback component is ready to launch the content. As you can see on my website there is a visual loader when you select the play button, but this is just an endlessly repeating movie clip that doesn't do anything accept give the viewer the idea that something's loading.
I don't have an idea about Flash & ActionScript 3.0. Please help me regarding this issue.Suppose, I have created a simple flash application(say, Test1.fla & Test1.swf file has been generated and works fine). Now, I need to use this swf file in my Java application as son as a menu-item is selected/gets clicked by the user.
But, when I run my whole application in IE7 browser window, If I select the Flash menuitem by clicking on it, then no flash file[viz., contents of Test1.swf file] gets visible.Instead a blank page without any conents is displlayed. In addition to this, it don't/doesn't display any message like this:" Install Flash Player to view the contents of swf file you need."
I have a problem when I try to use the loadVars class in an ActionScript 2 (CS3) file. Actually, it works fine in the debugger but it doesn't work at all from a web browser (IE or FF).
This is my AS code :
ActionScript Code: _root.testURL = "http://REMOTE_SERVER_IP:PORT/FILE.html"; var myLoadVars:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); _root.info.text = "Loading...";
[Code]....
I can see "File loaded" in the info text field, but the file is not called (I checked the server log) when the swf file is loaded into an HTML page and displayed by a web browser. Thus, _root.sr.text is set to undefined.
I'm working on a slideshow using a class that I wrote that builds the slideshow and an XML file that points to the images. I plan on improving it later but for now I just want it to cycle through a set of images, resize them if they're too big or small, and show a loading bar while the image is loading. It works fine if I test it in the Flash IDE or standalone Flash Player, but if I drag the SWF into Firefox or Safari, the loading bar refuses to show up. I also tried publishing to an HTML file and that didn't work either. I figured there could only be two different reasons why it wasn't showing up - either it wasn't being added to the stage, it wasn't being made visible after it's initially set to invisible. I decided to comment out the part of the code that make it invisible to begin with the loading bar showed up, but it wasn't showing how much of the image had been loaded when it changed to a new picture. Here's my code:
[Code]...
For some reason the pictureLoading function isn't being called when I test it in any browser. I've seen the loading bar randomly pop up a few in times in Safari 4 but then I try closing the window and testing it again and I get nothing. Can anyone help me figure this out? About:plugins in Firefox says I have Flash Player 10.0.22 installed, and I'm using Flash CS3 in OS X.
I have an email form that sends some variables and receives a true/false from the server. It works perfect if I use a computer that doesn't have the lates flashplayer OR if I just test from inside flash.[code]...............
ive been using this tutorial [URL] after following the tutorial everything works except when I have an image that is not on all frames, the fluid layout doesnt work on that image until I resize the browser again after I have gone to that frame, which obviously isnt quite right.
The mouseOver event doesn't work should be pretty basic but... y'know it's flash and that which should be simple is usually a PIA when you're an actionscript beginner
the custom cursor is a sprite. using it to click another sprite no longer triggers the MouseEvent.Click event. it looks like my custom cursor is being clicked on the sprite i want to click
I have a CustomTextInput component based on TextInput (Spark) component. The instance of this class is placed on a popup window (TitleWindow). How can I capture the popup move (dragging the title) event inside CustomTextInput implementation?
MoveEvent.MOVE event of the CustomTextInput itself doesn't work. Of course, I can't access the parent popup window inside the component implementation, because it's a common component that can be used not only on the popup windows.
There are other animation added to this function also.So the function works well but sometimes when I move the mouse out of the window from middle of stage to its out,the function doesn't work.Meaning it works for some fraction of time and then hand cursor is shown and camera rotation is not set to zero.Is there any trick that must be done to force Event.MOUSE_LEAVE work properly.
I'm using removeMovieClip and AttachMovie twice in one rollOver event, but only the second one works. Here's the code:
[Code]....
So - if there is only remove/attach of "LetP" everything works fine, but whene I add ramove/attach "k" only the "k" works, the "LetP" doesn't change. Should I put it into a function? Or is there another reason?
Actually I just checked and the removeMovieClip doesn't work in both cases. Is that becouse actionscript is attached to object itself instead of a dedicated actionscript layer?
i'm creating a reusable flex tree component. And i would like to stick in the itemclick funtion. So that when a user clicks anywhere on one of the tree's Branches. the branch expands.My problem is that i don't know how i can get the listener function to fire.What i would like to do is create the tree completely in as3. (no mxml). Normaly i set the itemClick on tree in the mxml. but i want to do this in as3. My component has alot more functions in it but i have deleted them so that it becomes easier to read. I Thought if i override the createChilderen function and add the eventlistener in there, that i would work. But no luck.
