Actionscript 3.0 :: Custom Event Dispatcher Fires, Listener Doesn't Respond

I've built a custom event dispatcher:

The event traces out that it successfully fired, but the listener doesn't catch it...

I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:

I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?

my event listeners does not catch a custom event while all of the others do. I have this in my FLA:

...which obviously means p5.finished() executed AND NGDemoEvent successfully fired the custom event. But I don't get the trace from closeP5Handler() (and obviously not from closeP5).

My FLA file has six other such function calls to six other classes (P2, P3, etc.) and these all work. They're identical. I'm tearing my hair out over this. Why won't the listener get the event?

I'm having an issue with an event dispatcher and an event listener. Here is the application code...

It will trace the loader.data variables but doesn't dispatch the event to the main application (Test). I'm listening for the event on the stage of the main but it doesn't trigger the event to display that the login has been successful even though it traces from the sendAndLoad class...

So I have a small game where I have implemented a* path finding. I have a spot where a player moves around the screen along the path found. I have a section where i know the user is at the end of the path and I am looking to dispatch an event at this moment so I can do things at the end of the path.

i have imported the aStar_path_dispatcher file into the move class then i do,

then in my main document class i import the aStar_path_dispatcher again, and set up an instance of it: then add a listener:

however this "move finished" doesn't seem to want to work. I have never used custom events before

I've got an app where numerous Sprite objects are being placed on the stage, and then when an event occurs (mouse click most likely) I want all the Sprites to move, independently, based upon an algorithm that each Sprite has. I can't get the Sprite objects to respond to the event; I get no errors.

The situation: - some radio buttons on the stage (design time, flash GUI) - A quiz class What I want: - create a RadioButtonsGroup in the quiz class (not with the flash GUI) - assign all the radios to that group (radio.group = myGroup) - respond to the CHANGE event It seems not to work. The group gets created (all the radios of that group are indipendent from the others on the stage), but it doesn't respond to the event.

I have a ColorPicker Component and I want to (on its CHANGE EVENT) have the LISTENER OBJECT ( known as A) change ANOTHER OBJECT's (known as B) color, based on the ColorPicker's.selectedColor. I do this because i need OBJECT A to keep track of the colors used. Also OBJECT B is dynamic and its instance is based on USER INTERACTION thus B can equal B1 or B2 or C based on mouse click at any given time but must only be 1 at any given time. SO I'm trying to "chain" the events together using listeners/ or delegation but I'm not sure at the logic.how do i reference the objects in the event? should I just try to chain B to listen directly to the event?  How can I do this without having to attach listers to the colorpicker every time?

I have a button (toggleBtn) when clicked dispatches the following custom event - dispatchEvent(new Event("togglePause"));

I have second object with a listener listening for this dispatch. Not sure what to attach this listener to to receive the dispatch. Attaching the listener to the stage does not work for me. It might be worth mentioning both the these objects are external objects instantiated in the document class.

For graphical representation I use fla file as a resource. I work in Flash Builder 4.6 to code. I try to create own class Panel which contains the click event. But event doesn't work when I test the move! When I move the event handler (buttonClick) and event listener to main class (test) and apply the event to the card object (for example), all works fine.

I'm trying to add an eventListener to a custom class. I created a motion tween in CS4 and exported the motion as as3, which then gave me a chunk of code.I then took that code and turned it into a class. What I'd like to be able to do is set up an event listener in my FLA to listen for when this animation is done playing, however, I have been unable to get that to work. I have an issue catching a custom event that I am firing. I have a view, let's call it "A" which calls a webservice "B", and when that webservice returns with data it fires a custom event "C". "A" is listening for that custom event but never hears it being broadcast. I have trace() lines in each method of the classes and they all fire in turn except the listener.

The event is not Firing!!!!!!!!!! Why? The "hitplayer" is supposes to fire and thats the one I'm having the problem with. It wont even trace. I know its a problem with the event because it works fine with Event.ENTER_FRAME.the listener:

I have an eventListener that is listening for the end of an audio channel that is playing an external MP3:

This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.

I have a movieclip with 3 frames. each frame has a button on it. Using actionscript I jump to a frame then add an event listener to that button.However, it doesn't work since the playhead for that movieclip doesn't actually get moved to a different frame until the frame redraws. So actionscript says the button doesn't exist.(other than not dynamically adding the buttons with code... which will be my next step...)

The keyBoard event listeners call on the rotate and unrotate functions and based on the key inputs(A and D) will implement either of the functions and rotate the image or return it to the original upright position. However, I haven't been able to get the function to work. When I press the A or D keys on the keyboard nothing happens. I even put trace() in one of the functions to see if the function will even be implemented but I don't get anything. I put in my Scripts below. Why are the functions not working? Do the eventlisteners fire or are there conflicts? I'm not getting any error messages.

Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...

I'm programming a little tank game (Check the attachment). The main class for tank is game.serovkonstantin.tanks.Tank.as and there are also 2 subclasses for now: Abrams and T90 which extend Tank. In my game.serovkonstantin folder I have a custom event (TankEvent), and the only event type inside of it which is TANK_INACTIVE.

I've added an event listener for MouseEvent.CLICK to each of the tank instances (inside Tank.as) which works just fine. When I add any of the tank instance onto the stage and click it, it traces the tank's name just like I wanted whether it's Abrams or T-90 depending on what tank I clicked. But the problem is that when I click a tank I also want it to dispatch my TankEvent.TANK_INACTIVE. The main stage has a listener for this event, so I expected it to catch the event and trace some phrase, but nothing happens I don't know whether it doesn't dispatch my event or doesn't catch it.

if you're interested why I need to dispatch this event, well,I suppose it will help my game know what tank to move when I click somewhere on the stage, and what tank(s) should be inactive,event it they all of the same type. I mean if I click one of the tanks it accepts all the controls while the other should be inactive

flash is not my area of expertise, but I've inherited a task that deals with AS2 Basically, I have a flash document (a loader?) with the following AS 2.0 code:

Basically, the idea is after the movie finishes playing, you should get redirected to a new page. The problem is that sometimes the page redirects immediately (before the movie is played). The movies are being served up from a media server and this seems to happen more consistently with newly uploaded movies. Sometimes it takes several attempts to actually play the movie all the way through, but over time, the movies generally start to play problem-free.

I have multiple items in my app that I would like the user to click on.Some items are completely different classes.The classes dispatch events and then when the events are captured, some modifications are done to the transform properties of a loosely coupled display object.I want two separate classes to dispatch the same type of event, since I already have an image class that draws images based on a given url... I want the classes to dispatch the events, but then I think I want the difference to be detected when the event comes along... i.e., I would like to recognize the 'origin' or 'sub-type' of the event. Some sort of if/then logic would suffice.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Event Dispatcher: Only Receives Event Once

So I have two classes talking to each other with EventDispatcher. One is a thumbnail of an image, and when it's clicked, it sends an event to the other class to display the full size version. I'm using a MovieClipLoader instance to load the full version (and the thumbnail).

Here's how it's sending the event from the thumbnail class:

The problem I'm having is it loads the full size version ONCE. After that, it no longer receives the event. The ("event received") trace no longer comes through. But the ("send event") trace continues to work.

The other weird part is if I comment out the loadClip, then the events come through just fine on both sides. But it's like after it loads an image once, it quits responding to that event ('onPhotoSelected'). Is there some kind of mis-communication between the events of the MovieClipLoader and my custom event or something?
