ActionScript 3.0 :: Making A Slideshow - Doesn't Work If I Test It In A Browser
Aug 2, 2009
I'm working on a slideshow using a class that I wrote that builds the slideshow and an XML file that points to the images. I plan on improving it later but for now I just want it to cycle through a set of images, resize them if they're too big or small, and show a loading bar while the image is loading. It works fine if I test it in the Flash IDE or standalone Flash Player, but if I drag the SWF into Firefox or Safari, the loading bar refuses to show up. I also tried publishing to an HTML file and that didn't work either. I figured there could only be two different reasons why it wasn't showing up - either it wasn't being added to the stage, it wasn't being made visible after it's initially set to invisible. I decided to comment out the part of the code that make it invisible to begin with the loading bar showed up, but it wasn't showing how much of the image had been loaded when it changed to a new picture. Here's my code:
[Code]...
For some reason the pictureLoading function isn't being called when I test it in any browser. I've seen the loading bar randomly pop up a few in times in Safari 4 but then I try closing the window and testing it again and I get nothing. Can anyone help me figure this out? About:plugins in Firefox says I have Flash Player 10.0.22 installed, and I'm using Flash CS3 in OS X.
How come the following AS3 works fine when placed in Scene 1, but throws multiple "1120 Access of undefined property" errors when the code is placed inside a movie clip? Somehow none of the variables in the code are recognized in the later case.
I tryed to do this several times, and it didn't worked. The main problem is that if I test simulate the movie (56Kb) the preloader doesn't work. First it loads the entire file, then it loads the preloader which is not needed then, and the 2nd scene after that.
I have a slideshow with 3 sections. The slideshow loops automatically as well as when being prompted by a button to go to a particular section. I also added a play/pause button which works initially, however, when clicked on one of the buttons to go to another section, the slideshow resumes looping..I"m assuming I need to check weather the pause button has been clicked to resume/or not resume the slideshow... but I'm unable to figure out how to do that.head of time! Here's the code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;import fl.transitions.easing.*; //Timervar tl:MovieClip = this;var slideDuration:uint = 12000;// or use whatevervar slideTimer:Timer=new
We've only successfully got this flash slideshow to resize correctly up until it goes to the #2 slide. I've looked all over the net, including this forum, many other have similar problem with resizing and scaling their movie clip to the full browser with correct aspect ratio, but most of them all involve a single video MC only. In my case, it's a bit more complicated which involves several pictures, masks, along with a pre-loader. Here's the FLA file. [URL]. Basically in a nutshell i am trying to make a website with an animated flash background that will scale to the user browser size according to the increase and decrease in browser width. exactly like you would see here on samsung's website [URL]. We know that it has something to do with the resize listener code. but we just can't overcome this glitch.
- Flash CS4 Professional Version 10.0.2, working in Actionscript 2
- I work with Mac OSX 6.4
I implemented a FLVPlayback component in a Flash file I've published on my website, so it could load an external movie without having to put it in the SWF itself. It works fine when using the SWF offline, but when I put it online it never runs on the first go. I either have to restart the browser, or when that doesn't work I'll have to wait for a few hours before it magically does what it's supposed to do.This goes for both Safari and Firefox on my Mac, and while using Firefox on a PC (I haven't tested different scenario's yet). Once it works, it'll always work on that particular computer in that particular browser. At first I thought the browser didn't allow internet access to the SWF (the FLV that it uses are hosted on a different site), but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Maybe it's a cache issue, but I haven't been able to prove that either.URL..I kept the actionscript at a minimum. When the play button is pressed, it simply goes to the next frame where the FLVPlayback component is ready to launch the content. As you can see on my website there is a visual loader when you select the play button, but this is just an endlessly repeating movie clip that doesn't do anything accept give the viewer the idea that something's loading.
I don't have an idea about Flash & ActionScript 3.0. Please help me regarding this issue.Suppose, I have created a simple flash application(say, Test1.fla & Test1.swf file has been generated and works fine). Now, I need to use this swf file in my Java application as son as a menu-item is selected/gets clicked by the user.
But, when I run my whole application in IE7 browser window, If I select the Flash menuitem by clicking on it, then no flash file[viz., contents of Test1.swf file] gets visible.Instead a blank page without any conents is displlayed. In addition to this, it don't/doesn't display any message like this:" Install Flash Player to view the contents of swf file you need."
I have a problem when I try to use the loadVars class in an ActionScript 2 (CS3) file. Actually, it works fine in the debugger but it doesn't work at all from a web browser (IE or FF).
This is my AS code :
ActionScript Code: _root.testURL = "http://REMOTE_SERVER_IP:PORT/FILE.html"; var myLoadVars:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); _root.info.text = "Loading...";
[Code]....
I can see "File loaded" in the info text field, but the file is not called (I checked the server log) when the swf file is loaded into an HTML page and displayed by a web browser. Thus, _root.sr.text is set to undefined.
This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.
Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...
function goNow (event:KeyboardEvent): void { thisOtherKey = event.keyCode; if (thisOtherKey == 32) { nextCar.gotoAndPlay(2); parkingQue.play(); tries++; }}stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goNow);
I have an email form that sends some variables and receives a true/false from the server. It works perfect if I use a computer that doesn't have the lates flashplayer OR if I just test from inside flash.[code]...............
I use URLRequest where I need to load external swf file and pass it some parameters. I am now out of my ideas.
example of my code: var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("test.swf"); --works fine var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("m1-9.swf?param1=true"); --doesn't work, output
ive been using this tutorial [URL] after following the tutorial everything works except when I have an image that is not on all frames, the fluid layout doesnt work on that image until I resize the browser again after I have gone to that frame, which obviously isnt quite right.
One of the the most annoying errors to get is the "duplicate function definition" error! Flash doesn't want to see the same function twice... But what about the same function used in two different sections (labels) of one site? I've got two different slideshows in two different sections of my site, and I need the same function called out for each. The function is function nextImage():void If I remove it one, that slideshow doesn't work (remains fixed on image 1 of the slideshow).. if I keep it in, nothing works! I had wanted to use the same script for both slideshows, but forget that! So, I found another script for a different type of slideshow.
My buttons only work when I click on them on the stage while having the "enable simple buttons" option on. They do not work if I try to "test movie," "test scene" and publish it to a SWF. Nothing responds whenever I am in these modes. I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Actionscript 2.0.
I made an AS3 animation with Flash. The SWF work perfectly playing directly in the Flash Player.If I read the SWF file in a browser, interactions like "onRollOver" or "onEnterFrame" doesn't work anymore.
I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:
Code: var i:Number = 0; var myInt:Number; var t:MovieClip;[code].....
in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.
I've made a file in photoshop with layer. I brought it into flash. I created the movie and it plays but when I want to use the "test movie" feat. it does nothing. The graphics come up but no movement. I exported it as an .swf file but still no luck.
I created a button symbol on the bottom layer, then added action script code in the first frame on the top layer. Clicked 'test movie' so that I could click the button to generate the code:
my_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick); function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void { trace("The event handler works!"); }
The movie won't test. How would I fix this to work.
I was wondering how would i go about making a simple application that can be run on a website that can: -show a opening page that will stay for 5 seconds (for advertisments)
-show random pictures (well they will only be text)
make one of my images in a slideshow (which the images are linked externally through actionscript) load a button that is only accessible when that specific image is shown.
for example-image 1- no button but image 2 has the button, image 3-no button, image 4 no button.... and so on.
heres my script for the slideshow and prev and next buttons
var totalSlides:Number = 6;var currentImage:Number = 0;var imagePath:String = "images/ad";var imageName:String = "ad";var imageExt:String = ".jpg"; var adImages:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
I am using a quiz template and have placed video in the first frame. Now the quiz doesn't go past the welcome page when I test movie... I'm sure what I am missing is simple!
The movie works when I test it in the flash IDE, but when I try it from the server it just sits there doing nothing, all the neccessary files are uploaded but I get nothing when I view it.[url]...
I have implemented a flash detection script (downloaded from [URL].. Because I have Flashplayer installed I cannot produce a situation to test this script on my browser. Has anyone an idea how I can test if this script works on browsers that have an old version or no Flashplayer installed?
I'm making an xml slideshow width 2 navigation arrows. I have loaded either the xml and the images. The problem is this: in the first frame i have a movieclip called "foto1" in which i load the first photo and underneath this i have another movieclip called "foto3". I load the two photos and i fade "foto1" to "foto3". after i'm going to the second frame in wich i have "foto3" and underneath this "foto1". I've loaded "foto3" but when the movie go to the second frame "foto3" contains nothing.
Making a photo slideshow to load as an external movie clip on my site when a button is pushed. Here is a link to the .swf file: [URL]. There is text that describes each set of 6 pictures. After the set of 6 pictures plays through the text is supposed to disappear and a new text appears to label the next set of 6 pictures. Problem is: the text doesn't disappear! I made all the text layers a symbol/movie clip. I animated each text to disappear at a certain point in the timeline but when I test the movie the texts just remain there and build up one after the other. When watching the movieclip, pay attention to the text in the lower left screen.
I've made a slideshow with externally loading text and images. How can I make it so after the title screen flashes off, the first thing is the first photo/caption without having to click on the next button?
