ActionScript 3.0 :: Event Listener To Detect A Child Added To The Stage?

What is the correct event listener to detect a child added to the stage? I tried:

which doesn't work. I also tried ADDED_TO_STAGE but that doesn't fire it either. Do you know the correct way to detect when the child is added? Perhaps I should be attaching the listener to the parent instead?

if I have an event listerner (mouse, keyboard, enterframe,....event) that is being triggered, and when it finishes its event, something that is able to detect the finished event listener and fire out another sets of event.
It works more like MOTION_FINISH in TweenEvent, but it is only available for TweenEvent only, what if I want to detect a mousclick, keyboard, enterframe or even touch event?

I'll present my problem in a few steps:
- I have a constructor method which is trigerred automatically once the program starts
- The method's argument determines whether or not an enter frame event is to be added(move:Boolean = true)
- If true, add the event listener
- there are getters and setters created to access the variables from another class
The problem is that the event listener is run only once - at the initial phase, so it checks the move's value just once (true - add, false - don't add), so it can be turned on and off only in this class. I want to allow a user to change its value from an external class, which is impossible even with getters and setters, because it adds the listener before the user even gets a chance to change it. I want the listener to be added only if the user wants it to. I know it looks complicated,

My problem is basically as follows. There is an instance of a class extending EventDispatcher. Everything goes well when I add event listener to the object like this:

Now someFunction is not called even though the line containing dispatchEvent('eventName') is being executed just like before (and there is an external reference to myObject as well). The application I'm developing is quite complex so, unfortunately, I can't post the exact code.

I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:
test01.abtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, mouseHandler);
test01.bbtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, mouseHandler);
test01.cbtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, mouseHandler);[code]....
It is only targeting the movie clip, not the buttons inside the movie clip.

I'm having trouble getting the Video class to work.. Everything works fine until I try to add an on enter frame event listener to the movie. I basically want to overlay an effect that gets updated every frame but adding the event listener causes the movie to freeze before it loads or on the first frame or just shortly after starting play back.. It freezes even if the enter frame method body is commented out so I don't think it's because of extra overhead..

I m using a dynamic text field in my app. I have added one Event.Change Listener on it. When I type into it with the keyboard, the event triggers. But when i set some text in it when user performs some action, like textfieldName.text = "test" then the event does not triggers. In this type of situation where we are not using keyboard, which listener should be added to text field to trigger the change event?

I am currently having problems referencing a MovieClip child which I add to the Stage from the Document Class. Basically when the MovieClip child is added to the Stage from the Document Class, I want a certain MovieClip already on the Stage to reference it once it is on the Stage.
Also, if it is possible, I don't want the MovieClip referencing the child being added to the Stage to have parameters linking it with the Document Class, because I plan on nesting this MovieClip within another MovieClip later on in the future.
Here is the code for the MovieClip class which is referencing the child once it is added to the Stage:

I am trying to do is to add an eventListener to a MovieClip that is inside another MovieClip. Things are going like this:I have ParentMovieClip and inside ChildMovieClip. When I load ParentMovieClip I would like to add an EventListener to ChildMovieClip so that when I roll over the mouse on the ChildMovieClip it will play some scenes from the ParentMovieClip.

I'm trying to build a small game to try and get into ActionScript. This is my first real attempt at ActionScript.Currently I have an Enemy superclass and an Enemy_One class that extends that superclass.When an enemy has moved off screen I want to remove it from the frame. I have this slight problem with the event ADDED_TO_STAGE. The listener is launched twice so I figured the event is dispatched twice.
Here is my .fla code :

The output panel displays "test A" once and "test B" twice. I fixed the problem by adding this little line on the opening of the function createButtons :

I read here and there that the event ADDED_TO_STAGE is dispatched when children are added but my problem remains even when I comment everything below this line :

I need to add an event listener to the stage of this code.. this is for a scrolling slider.. and if your mouse is not over the scroll bar area when you release.. the slider gets "stuck" to the cursor and it won't release. I believe I need to add a listener to the stage for the mouse up state so that if your cursor is elsewhere on the stage and you release the mouse, it will release the slider.[code]...

Basically I am dynamically calling product buttons, which on rollover invoke a child of a dropdown, which in turn invokes children which are squares filled with colour.What I need is for these squares to be clickable which will then colour something else using the colourMatrixFilter (I'll probably start another post for this problem at a later date).For some reason though adding the Square as a child to it's rightful parent - the dropdown makes the listeners completely useless. Add to the stage and the listeners work. I can't work out why either and have done loads of searching.[code] also if someone could show me in the right direction of pulling the XMLdata for the squares (which will be a name attribute).

I am using a component in my application, but it turns out, it's slowing my app down big time b/c it doesnt remove an eventListener on stage for mouse move. Is there a way I can remove this listener? I can't get into the class b/c it's a component and it doesnt have any sort of kill function to call.
