Flash :: Loading SWF Doesn't Work When SWF Is Stored On Local PC

I have an HTML file which contains a Flash .FLV player; which then loads a given FLV video and plays it. The idea is all these files are stored locally on the PC as part of an application install, we use HTML/flash for the help/manual. On my PC it works fine but on a user's PC nothing is displayed. However if I host the exact same file-structure online and give them the URL, it works perfectly.
I am guessing this is a security issue of some sort but have no idea how to address it. The browser being used is actually a XULRunner app, i.e it's the FireFox 3 engine but not actually FF. Since my PC isa developer PC it's entirely possible I've done something in the past on another project that makes it work, rather than my PC being special in some way. I want to play a video, for it I decided to use a FLVPayback with a skin, and it works very well when I test it in Flash CS4, also when i called it from my server with the "network access" only preference. But when i embeded into a html... it plays the video but the skin doesīt shows up.

While trying to develop some Android app I ran into the following problem:I load an swf file to a WebView, that makes js calls. I want to catch those js calls, so I useWebViews.addJavascriptInterface() to do so.Everything worked just fine when i loaded the swf file from a remote server, but when I load the same swf file form the Android file system, the javascript methods seem not to run (at least I cannot see them).

I follow every tutorial. This is the way. Is there any other way to make it "EXECUTE" the php code?? it donesnīt seem to work. The same happens when i assign it to an XML in AS3. It doesnīt work.

I've created an extremely simple flash website. I need it to display some pictures and to keep the filesize down I want to load these images on demand. The images are hosted on my server in folders in the same directory as the website swf and the html file that initializes the swf.
I use the most rudimentary way of loading an image, it looks like this:

When I upload the website to the server it simply does not display the image, it's not loaded, the place where it's supposed to be is blank.
I've searched the site and there have been some threads with similar issues but the answers given just don't seem relevant. Something about cross domain policies, but all my images are on the same domain as the website swf.

im loading a text from a mysql-db with php. I use url encoding/decoding but still my flash shows a small "square" instead of "ïŋ―" (for example) in the textfield (using arial). Embedding the font doesnt work either i think.

I have built this AS2 game that uses quite a few classes and library symbols.It works fine the first time you play the swf. But if you try to do the whole ctrl + ENTER in the Flash IDE, it doesn't seem to load any of the assets that are dynamically attached to the stage.This also happens if you have another swf use loadMovie to load it.I have all the dynamically attached symbols assigned with the linkage and set to export on the firstFrame. There is an include .as file on the first frame of the fla.

I have a flash website, with two menu the main menu that loads by Loader class swf files with the respective content. And the secondary menu that changes the language of the site. How do u implement the action of having the site translation?
1)Passing params Load file.swf?langid=n then reading by loader info (this one is not easy to test since loading swf with params doesn't work in flash ide debug env.)or

The "inv" variable is set to 0 from the beginning, and when it changes to 1, a movieclip named "key" is supposed to show up.Somehow I can't seem to be able to do this. First I tried to set it on various locations on the timeline - that didn't work. Then I tried to do it directly into the event listener - that didn't work either. What am I doing wrong? i have the problem of local files of flash not working in any browser. to explain further i have html pages with headers in flash in my hard disk with links of the connecting pages. when i open such pages in any browser the links dont work. the page just stays as it is. when i click on the links only the state of the rollover changes when clicked on a link. the links when clicked dont go to the linked page. but when i upload these files to the server, they open and work perfectly in any browser.

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

I want to write a function that will load all of my external sounds stored in an array which are just strings of their filenames ie:

I'm having a problem, where random IE's are not able to display my .swf file. All the IE's are IE8 with the latest flash pluggins and all security's are set at Medium, however some IE's get just a grey box and other's get the full flash file. What's going on? It works fine in Safari and Firefox of course, but why so much difficulty with AS3 Flash9 in IE? here is a link to the site, and it's the big image changer at the bottom of the front page.

i'm pretty new to flex 3 but it's really cool so far. now in the center of the screen when i try to load an swf file using the SWFLoader object i get the following error:

For various reasons, I would prefer to store binary data like images and videos as BLOBs within a MySQL database and have Flash retrieve that content directly from the database as opposed to getting it from a URL on a fileserver. So, I have written a PHP script that Flash calls which does a database query and returns the bitmap data from the BLOB. I have verified that the image data is being sent from the database through the PHP, but Flash either doesn't display the image or gives me an error saying that it is an unknown type.

Is there a way to get Loader() to accept bitmap image data that is retrieved from a BLOB in a database? Should I try to get PHP to mimic the response from an HTTP server or is there another way to load bitmap data stored as a BLOB into a display object?

I'm trying to export an animated text image, but for some reason, when I publish in .gif format, the text is all screwed up. I have example of it, in the attached file. It worked for me in flash mx, but in flash cs4 it doesn't work. I want the text to be readable and animated, in this .gif.

I have a problem when i try to access the internet from a swf that is run localy.I want to load other swf files from diffrent domains into my main file wich works fine when the swf is on some domain but when i download the file and run it localy it doesn't work.
Can i change the sandbox type from actionscript? Mochi Media does it after enctypting your swf but i don't know how.

I am a student trying to learn how to take multimedia elements from one class and put them on a webpage using Dreamweaver CS4. From an online tutorial, I created start/stop buttons with ActionScript3 URLRequest to reference a sound file. The swf works fine when played; it plays from the html generated by flash but when I use Dreamweaver CS4 > insert > media > swf and then preview page in browser (firefox), the button doesn't do anything. When I compare the html page generated by flash to the html created by Dreamweaver, they look completely different. I don't have a clue what to do next.

I have Flash CS5 and I'm trying to export SWC from it to use as a library with Flex SDK (FlashDevelop). I have "Export SWC" checked in publish settings and for a while it worked. Now, even if it still is checked, SWC isn't created (at least in the same directory as SWF). I even tried creating a completely new FLA and copied everything from the old library in there. Still it doesn't work.

They asked me to include a flash image on one of our websites. When I try to add text to the stage, I can't make spaces. That is all. I've used flash before and I've never ran into this problem

I have a flash form that although it does exactly the same as its html version (just passing variables) doesn't work. It doesn't redirect to the right page, processing the send variabeles and sending a custom email. [code]As you can see it's just a form - no hidden scripts - and sends variables to the correct url.I've turned it into a flash form which is just a button which sends the exact same variables as above, but now the browser isn't redirected to the same page. Although the variables are sent which I can check in Firebug. It doesn't redirect to the same page as the html form and all variables are therefore not processed and no email is sent. The only thing I had to workaround is the variable name 'function' which in AS is a reserved word. Bypassed that by using array notation.It's just like the url the variables are send to can see whether the form is sent through html or flash?[code]
