i have the problem of local files of flash not working in any browser. to explain further i have html pages with headers in flash in my hard disk with links of the connecting pages. when i open such pages in any browser the links dont work. the page just stays as it is. when i click on the links only the state of the rollover changes when clicked on a link. the links when clicked dont go to the linked page. but when i upload these files to the server, they open and work perfectly in any browser.
I'd like my application to be pretty light so it loads quickly. So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?
the flash4 published set of files, with a variety of skins tried, works well on the local drive, even when moved to a different folder structure. when index.html is opened on the remote web site, the browser (firefox3 and ie7) displays the player conrols and a rotating horizontal barber pole, green and black, but no flash video.some of the skins i've used are: SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf, nOverPlayStopSeekCaptionVol.swf and SkinUnderPlay.swf. all work locally but do not play the .flv file on the web site. no problem playing flv movies on the remote web site if the file set is created by dreamweaver.
I installed the yahoo webplayer to play mp3's on the html page. Works fine on the net. Playing local files, it is continuously buffereing and doesn't play. In DW live view, the css box in the right hand corner flashes as the flash screen operates. The flash screen moves at half speed. My users upload a certain kind of text file that sometimeshas references to images stored locally on their hard drive. I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.
I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. in older versions of flash player if I opened a swf file in a web page locally it would bring up a security settings box where I could allow files to play locally - but this doesn't seem to happen in flash player 11 - how do I enable my swfs to play locally?
I've recently encountered a problem whilst coding when trying to upload local files to flash. With Flash Player 10 you can use the following code to load local files into flash.

This is not available in Flash Player 9 which is causing me issues as I only have a copy of CS3. All I need to do is retrieve a local jpg from the users computer and temporarily display it in my flash application. So to clarify, uploading to the server isn't required unless this is the only way to do this with Flash Player 9?

A project has various local HTML & video files for pages. We need to be able to embed these videos in HTML pages - but because all are local files we have no server-side streaming.
Can I still just use SWFObject? Are there other well-known controls that will let us play .mp4, .swf/flv, .wmv files? This solution is targeting HTML4 across Chrome, FF and IE (I don't know if IE6 is needed).
I am looking for a way to edit .sol-files (LSO/Local Shared Object). I have tried searching quite a bit, but I have not been able to find any program that can edit AS3-files properly. Is there a solution for me out there?
I realize it is possible to play audio with Flash and HTML5 by passing a URL.
However, is it possible to get a reference to an audio file using a file browser (either with HTML5 or Flash), to then play this local file, again using either Flash or HTML5?
Of course, this should happen without the interference of a server. Since the file is already on the local system, it does not make sense to route it through a server only to receive the same file again.
I have a problem when i try to access the internet from a swf that is run localy.I want to load other swf files from diffrent domains into my main file wich works fine when the swf is on some domain but when i download the file and run it localy it doesn't work.
Can i change the sandbox type from actionscript? Mochi Media does it after enctypting your swf but i don't know how.
I have an HTML file which contains a Flash .FLV player; which then loads a given FLV video and plays it. The idea is all these files are stored locally on the PC as part of an application install, we use HTML/flash for the help/manual. On my PC it works fine but on a user's PC nothing is displayed. However if I host the exact same file-structure online and give them the URL, it works perfectly.
I am guessing this is a security issue of some sort but have no idea how to address it. The browser being used is actually a XULRunner app, i.e it's the FireFox 3 engine but not actually FF. Since my PC isa developer PC it's entirely possible I've done something in the past on another project that makes it work, rather than my PC being special in some way. I have a strange problem: When I type the absolute URL to my SWF file it works fine; however, only the background image appears when the SWF is embedded in the home page.

I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
I am constructing a Flash animation and I was hoping to build it by scenes. These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?
I'm using Flash CS4 & Actionscript 3.0 to create a grid with different objects that a user can move with the mouse. This is a standalone application meant to be used on a Windows machine. Is there a way to download and save the user's responses (viz. location of mouse, type of object clicked, etc.) onto the local computer without using the Flash Debugger?

I'm developing an application and because of certain design restrictions I have to do it in Flash. This application communicates with another one done in c++, but just because I need a couple strings, so I thought it would be easy to write them to a .txt file and parse it. But the only way I've found so far is adding a browse event handler and select the file manually. That's no good for me, I need the file to be read automatically given a path, something like:

I am having trouble seeing my flash video on the server. I just see it in my local computer. I save everything and then preview it, copy the code and insert on the bottom site, and no video. Just the skin appears when you roll over the code. [URL]
