I have pretty good basic "action script" skills for developing flash files and movies, but I don't know how to do dynamic things with asp, aspx, etc. I have a local application that runs form my computer and is not connected to the internet. The application keeps track of button clicks on each buttton as separate variables. Here is my question ... each time the flash movie runs and buttons are clicked, I want to record the clicks on each button (which exist in the application at runtime) and save them to something like an excel spreadsheeet or access database. Any easy way to do this without getting into server-side stuff?

The problem is here, I will try to explain it as clearly as I can: everything works fine when I do that on the computer that has all the source files and of course xampp running.

View 10 RepliesI'm developing a game add-on/plugin which replaces a built in feature of an online game. The game loads an .swf therefore, my solution also has to be an swf for it to work 'in-game'.
I would like to be able to have the user press a button in the custom .swf I am making - and this would open an external application (amongst other things). I.e. if there was a button that said Notepad, it would open Notepad.exe on the machine.
My initial thinking was that i could have a XML Socket server 'daemon' runnning (c#) , which i could connect to with flash - however, as both the swf and the daemon are local, flash complained and gave this error: "Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not permitted to use sockets."
The only way i know to fix this - is to change the security settings of flash - not very user friendly!
So! Any thoughts on how I could otherwise go about this? I was thinking a custom http server could do the trick (connected with URLRequest) although i'm not too sure.
I'm having a problem with flash/javascript/iframes. I have a flash banner that is positioned at a fixed position on the bottom of the screen. When I press a button on the banner, the page (which is an iframe) should change.
I got it to work using javascript. But it only works on the Internet. On my local computer it doesn't work. No error, nothing. it is a task for school (for my exams) so it should work only locally.

View 3 RepliesMy Flex app downloads a bunch of images. When the user closes the browser window (or navigates away from the page), those images shouldn't be saved in the local cache. HTTP headers for the SWF file tells browser to fetch it from the website every time -- that is, it shouldn't save the SWF file locally. I just want to make sure that any of the images that the Flex app downloads isn't saved locally.
I checked Windows XP & Flash 9 for this. And nothing was stored locally. I assume this is true across all platforms and all versions of Flash greater than 9?

The navigation buttons in my .fla file are set to the font, Arial MT in Bold. It displays no problem on my desktop computer. However, when I view the website on my laptops, the font changes to what looks to be something like Times New Roman. The same thing happens with my "Read More" button text. It's also originally in Arial MT Bold. On my desktop it appears fine but on my 2 laptops it appears to be in Times New Roman. This is more of an issue because I have these buttons underlined. When viewing in my laptops, these underlines appear to be too long. If I shorten it, it'll probably appear to be too short when I view on my desktop. How can I get the font to be one consistent font for all computers?

View 3 RepliesI am working on this cd-rom and have just reached testing stage for part 1 (of 5). There are lots of interactive activities, video and animations. For the activities, I dont know if I am just too tired but there seems to be items which are visible on my .swf on my computer that sometimes are visible and sometimes are not visible on the cd-rom, also in testing yesterday there sere some activities that seemed to not be working correctly (Althought they perform fine on the desktop version, on a reset of the cd-rom they then seemed to work. Is there anything that I need to take into account for the code being read off a CD to make it more bullet proof? I am stressing out a bit at the Unknown factor- I cannot continue to produce this resource if I cannot guarantee how it will perform in real life?
View 5 RepliesI'm running Vista, 32 bit, and the latest version of Firefox. Any time I enlarge a video I'm watching on a website that uses the Flash Player, (youtube and others) to full screen, the computer eventually locks up. The video continues normally, but hitting escape does nothing to reduce the video back to the smaller size. I then hit CTRL ALT DEL and still nothing changes. The mouse can't move the cursor, hitting tab doesn't work, nothing.
I've tried uninstalling the Flash Player using the offline uninstaller, and reinstalling the latest Flash Player using the offline installer. I've gone to the Flash "about" page after each of those 2 actions to make sure that Flash is completely uninstalled, and reinstalled. I've also run CCleaner after uninstalling Flash Player just to make sure no registry entries, etc. remained.
