View 21 RepliesI have pretty good basic "action script" skills for developing flash files and movies, but I don't know how to do dynamic things with asp, aspx, etc. I have a local application that runs form my computer and is not connected to the internet. The application keeps track of button clicks on each buttton as separate variables. Here is my question ... each time the flash movie runs and buttons are clicked, I want to record the clicks on each button (which exist in the application at runtime) and save them to something like an excel spreadsheeet or access database. Any easy way to do this without getting into server-side stuff?

The problem is here, I will try to explain it as clearly as I can: everything works fine when I do that on the computer that has all the source files and of course xampp running.

I'm developing a game add-on/plugin which replaces a built in feature of an online game. The game loads an .swf therefore, my solution also has to be an swf for it to work 'in-game'.
I would like to be able to have the user press a button in the custom .swf I am making - and this would open an external application (amongst other things). I.e. if there was a button that said Notepad, it would open Notepad.exe on the machine.
My initial thinking was that i could have a XML Socket server 'daemon' runnning (c#) , which i could connect to with flash - however, as both the swf and the daemon are local, flash complained and gave this error: "Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not permitted to use sockets."
The only way i know to fix this - is to change the security settings of flash - not very user friendly!
So! Any thoughts on how I could otherwise go about this? I was thinking a custom http server could do the trick (connected with URLRequest) although i'm not too sure.

The files typically come at at somewhere between 5 and 15mb and are in AVI (mpeg4) format.I'm using a Max/MSP patch (program) to do the recording and encoding, and controlling it remotely from Flash.Once Max has recorded the video file it passes the path to the finished file back to Flash.Flash is interacting with a web server via SWX/PHP for a number of other reasons to do with the project. I'd hoped to upload the video files using the following method:Load the video file into Flash as a ByteArray via URLLoader.Serialise the ByteArray as a String using Base64 encoding and pass that to a SWX/PHP method on the server which would in turn save it to a file.The problem is that serialising a large file such as an AVI is causing the Flash player to crash, so I'm going to have to look at a different method of doing the upload.Get a video file from the local machine onto a web server simple as that.

However, what I want to do is load a video from the file system (the same server the SWF is deployed to) rather than fetching a video from a URL. Reading the documentation for the source property tells me it will only accept URLs. I stream some h264 videos to my application in FMS3.5， the videos can be played in FMS, but don't work in the local playback, <s:VideoPlayer source="test.f4v" x="31" y="18" width="402" height="206"/>. I get some h264 videos from FMS application "vod", they work well.
View 6 RepliesI'm currently working on a webcam recorder to record high quality video. I had the recorder working before, but the video quality was quite poor. Instead I'm trying to use a client side buffer and then upload the buffer after recording has stopped. I thought after I unattached the video and audio from the NetStream that either a NetStream.Buffer.Empty or NetStream.Record.Stop event would be sent when the buffer was finished uploading.
What is actually happening after I start recording is two NetStream.Record.Stop events are being sent in a row, so recording never really happens. Also, on the server side I'm trying to save a user name and password into a variable, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that since the application script is just a bunch of callback functions.
Is there still really no way to use the Flash Player, whether embedded in a web page or as a projector, to record video files to a local directory on a user's computer?I understand that this is potentially a security nightmare, but I thought Adobe had worked around those issues.
View 2 RepliesI'm having a problem with flash/javascript/iframes. I have a flash banner that is positioned at a fixed position on the bottom of the screen. When I press a button on the banner, the page (which is an iframe) should change.
I got it to work using javascript. But it only works on the Internet. On my local computer it doesn't work. No error, nothing. it is a task for school (for my exams) so it should work only locally.

View 3 RepliesHave downloaded trial version of Flash CS5.5. In Flash I converted a FLV Video into SWF Datei (ActionScript 3 / Flash Player 9.0.124 / chose the skin that was suggested by Flash.
Have also downloaded latest Flash player)
Published SWF and HTML and saved FLV File.
If I load the HTML into local Browser it works perfectly.
If I load the HTML Datei
into IIS 6 on local computer or
into IIS 7 on local computer or
upload to Hoster with IIS 7 or
upload to Hoster with linux Server
the Video is invisible
I have also checked the mime Type (.flv video/x-flv) on both IIS 6 and 7 on local computers so the problem doesnt lie there. There's no point in me buying the program if I cant get this thing to work.
My Flex app downloads a bunch of images. When the user closes the browser window (or navigates away from the page), those images shouldn't be saved in the local cache. HTTP headers for the SWF file tells browser to fetch it from the website every time -- that is, it shouldn't save the SWF file locally. I just want to make sure that any of the images that the Flex app downloads isn't saved locally.
I checked Windows XP & Flash 9 for this. And nothing was stored locally. I assume this is true across all platforms and all versions of Flash greater than 9?
I would like to know if it's possible for flash to stream it's webcam directly to another computer without a flash media server in the middle, I want to build a highly scalable video system which basically logs people into the site, records their ip address and then when someone wants to chat to that person, connect the output from the webcam to the input of the flash video player and vice versa. The idea being that they basically plug together, rather than a huge, expensive, bandwidth hungry server in the middle. Is it possible? I heard that flash can talk binary directly to sockets now, could this be a solution?
