View 4 RepliesA project has various local HTML & video files for pages. We need to be able to embed these videos in HTML pages - but because all are local files we have no server-side streaming.
Can I still just use SWFObject? Are there other well-known controls that will let us play .mp4, .swf/flv, .wmv files? This solution is targeting HTML4 across Chrome, FF and IE (I don't know if IE6 is needed).
I realize it is possible to play audio with Flash and HTML5 by passing a URL.
However, is it possible to get a reference to an audio file using a file browser (either with HTML5 or Flash), to then play this local file, again using either Flash or HTML5?
Of course, this should happen without the interference of a server. Since the file is already on the local system, it does not make sense to route it through a server only to receive the same file again.
We would like to build a flash video player into our corporate intranet site, currently we are evaluating JW Player and have come across and issue accessing the FLV files stored on a mirrored share drive that all users have access to on the local intranet.From what I can tell the Adobe flash plugin will not allow a SWF file hosted 'online' (intranet) to access a shared directory that the user has access to. Is there any way around this?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to load a local xml file:
xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("../xml/xmlData.xml"));
But I'm getting this security sandbox violation:
#2148: Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.
I don't get this error when I embed the XML file directly with the EMBED metadata tag.
i have the problem of local files of flash not working in any browser. to explain further i have html pages with headers in flash in my hard disk with links of the connecting pages. when i open such pages in any browser the links dont work. the page just stays as it is. when i click on the links only the state of the rollover changes when clicked on a link. the links when clicked dont go to the linked page. but when i upload these files to the server, they open and work perfectly in any browser.
View 8 RepliesI'd like my application to be pretty light so it loads quickly. So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?
View 2 RepliesI have three flv files that I need to play sequentially, one right after the other in the same location (box) in an html document. I have segmented the video because of it's size. Does any one know how I would make this happen or where I can find some sort of tutorial that can assist me with this? I also have another project in which I have 4 animations that I want to play in sequence but they are in different locations on the web page.
View 1 RepliesI've made several FLV files and they all pause while playing. A 3 minute video 640x360, 37MB will pause 4 times. If I open the page and let it sit about 3 minutes before playing the video, then it will play smoothly but since no one will ever do that I must resolve the issue. Also, once it plays all the way through, then it will play smoothly, but again, I need it to play smoothly the first time someone clicks on it.[URL]..
View 7 RepliesI want a swf file that will play other swf files one after the other. They are swf, not video files, as I need to change everything on the page when the video stops playing. So, one swf opens with a custom page - plays a video - and then the next swf will open and do the same thing. There's much talk about 'typing stop(); on the last frame of a video" - As far as I can see - everything is automatically sitting on a single frame in Flash - whether it's scene 1, or I open the movie file - the movie is all playing in one frame. If try to simple put different material on a second frame, it loops back and forth between one frame of each movie (it will change the background, and video - but I get only ONE frame of each movie - not the full movie before switching).
View 9 RepliesI'm using Flash CS4 and I have a jukebox coded in AS3 to play songs 1-4.
If I click publish preview>Flash, everything works fine. The songs load, play, and can have their volumes adjusted.
If I export a swf file and the associated html file, along with the songs in the same directory structure as they were on my computer (in an audio folder in the same directory as the swf), the graphics show up, but the music doesn't play when I click the song buttons.
what I may have done wrong to go from a working publish preview of flash to a non-functional swf and html on the web?
I have several SWF files which are essentially little trivia files, provided to me by a 3rd party. They are individual files that number about 20. I am wondering, how can I play this as a list; like a playlist, and then loop back to restart? I'd like to do this in the stand alone player however it can only seem to load 1 file at a time. How I might look to accomplish this looping playlist?

Is there a way to do this with get url? or some other easy method?
I installed the yahoo webplayer to play mp3's on the html page. Works fine on the net. Playing local files, it is continuously buffereing and doesn't play. In DW live view, the css box in the right hand corner flashes as the flash screen operates. The flash screen moves at half speed. It appears that the webplayer is somehow interfering with the flash and vice versa. <p><a href="samples/song1-1.mp3">song1-1</a></p></td><td align="center" width="52">
View 2 RepliesMy users upload a certain kind of text file that sometimeshas references to images stored locally on their hard drive. I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.
I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. Is there anything
I'm creating a standalone flash application. Now, I have a user interface with a menu, and I have to launch a new stage in fullscreen mode with at the center an 800x600 swf.How can I create the fullscreen?

View 3 RepliesWhy is there no 'update' available to take the Flash Pro standalone and debuggers to FP11? There don't seem to be any Adobe authored instructions on doing it manually and I can't find an update. Have just upgraded from Flash Pro CS5 to CS5.5 on WIndows, it's telling me my product is now up-to-date, but the installed players are still on 10.
View 13 RepliesFlash Player 10.2.153.1and Flash Player 10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than 90% CPU. The new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to 30%, but the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.
In the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)
I'm on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
I did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7, graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more stable but finally crashes too.
Finally if I export my application with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.
My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.
I have created a simple flash movie which I use to stream MP3 files into HTML documents using the JavaScript Flash integration Kit. When an audio file has finished streaming it fires the onSoundComplete function; using the integration Kit as a proxy allows me to fire JavaScript events within the HTML document. The event fires correctly when I am streaming from the Internet, however, it fails to fire when the movie and the files are on the same, local, machine.The problem lies, I think, in the following lines of code:

I currently have random external swfs of "Buttons" loading and unloading into mc_containers into my main movie. These load and unload every couple of seconds.
What I would like to do is have sounds associated with these.. So if you was to click on one of the buttons, it would play a sound.
I have tried this by placing the sound in the button "down" section. However, it starts to play the audio and then as soon as the SWF unloads to load the next, the audio stops.
My question is: Is there a way that when you click on the external SWF loaded button - that it would then link to an audio file in the "main" timeline/library ? This way the audio would continue playing even though the SWF has unloaded.
I have wmv files that i need available for download from answf (both swf and .wmv's will be on a DVD or CD). The wmv files arein a folder named WMV which is at the same level as the swf. I justwant the user to be able to click on a button and select "Save As"and download the file. I've been trying to use the download()method but keep getting IO Errors and also tried usingnavigateToURL but it tries to download it through firefox (no "SaveAs" option, just tries to open with Windows Media Player) andwindows media player says it can't find the fil

View 2 RepliesI am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

View 1 RepliesI have noticed that I have to put flv files in the same or sub-directories of the application file, for example myproject/bin-debug/flvs/1.flv, and use videodisplay.source="flvs/1.flv" to load.
If I put it in myproject/flvs/1.flv, I cannot load it in VideoDisplay, using videodisplay.source="../flvs/1.flv". However the metadata (duration for example) is retrieved, but play() cannot start it.
I have a very stupid problem. I'm using Flash Builder (Flex) 4. My application displays a video using VideoDisplay component and some images. The video filename is always named video.mp4 and the images are inside a folder called "real/". The video file and the real folder are in the SAME location of the .swf built.
The video source in the code is set like this: videoDisplay.source = 'video.mp4';
and the images, loaded dynamically, are like:
img.source = 'real/' + imageFilename;

in older versions of flash player if I opened a swf file in a web page locally it would bring up a security settings box where I could allow files to play locally - but this doesn't seem to happen in flash player 11 - how do I enable my swfs to play locally?
